Thunk, Thunk, Thunk, Thunk, Thunk, Thunk, Thunk, Thunk!

The echoes of steel-platted foot-falls ricocheted off the hallways' walls with the soft-padding of smaller paws following closely behind as an agitated flame-haired grunt ran down the halls of the underground 5th floor with her eevee at her heels.
"Veeeeee!" the stitched-up pokemon protested.
"We are not lost!" Addison countered over her shoulder, oblivious to the loud squeak of paws skidding across tile behind her as she suddenly took a sharp turn. "Just need to find one of those robotic-dudes to tell us which hall it's in!"

Tucked snugly under Addison's arm was a tightly secured box of gelignite; otherwise known as blasting jelly. Being the fairly new grunt in the Demolition Department, it was expected of her to run most of the errands between the 4th underground floor and the storage floor. However, she didn't realize that being the fairly new grunt and having access to more floors meant she was more likely to get lost. Why did this place have to be so bloody huge?!?

"Eeeveeee," came the disconcerted moan in response. Patches' loyal nature normally didn't argue against his trainer's ideology of not admitting how lost she was. However, it was the fact that this place carried the strange feeling of pokemon experiments that made him uneasy... no doubt pertaining to the mismatched appendages strewn over his body. That, and it was a little distressing that Addison was literally running around with blasting jelly near rooms filled with beakers, glasses, and chemicals.

Yeah, this definitely wasn't the right floor.

'All readings normal.' She wrote on the clipboard. 'cell clusters stable and replicating.' Nyx looked up at the large liquid filled tank. There wasn't much in there, yet. She sighed and put the clip board into the plastic basket hanging on the wall nearby. As fascinating as cloning was, it was a long and boring process.
Might as well go have some coffee and something to eat. She wouldn't have to check up on project02898 for another two hours.

Nyx left the cloning lab just in time to see someone walking towards her. Who was that?

Addison skirted down another hall, just in time to-- GREAT SCOTT! Was that a person with an Altaria on their head?!
Oh, no- wait, that was just their hair.
...Regardless.
The taller grunt flailed her free arm around in exasperation before pointing to the other Rocket. "Ffffff- ahh, you! Person!!" she exclaimed to get the smaller woman's attention, although it seemed she had already noticed her. Addie came to a sudden stop when she came in range of the other grunt, causing the eevee to bump into the back of her legs.
"You don't know where the demolition sector is, do you?" she asked anxiously.

"Demolitions? That's the floor above us. You're down in the labs. Genetics, to be specific. Well. The hallway." Nyx pointed at the strange looking thing at this person's feet.
"what is this?"

"Ugh, seriously?" Addison moaned in annoyance. Not at the scientist, but at the fact that she'd be walking all over the place for nothing. Well, better go find the lift rather than take the box all the way up another flight of stairs.
At the girl's inquiry, she looked down at the eevee, whose eyes were welling up at this point at being called a 'this', as if he weren't even a classifiable pokemon anymore. "Oh, Patches? He's uhhh... umm... a Umbre-espy-jolte-flar-...leafy-- ... He's an Eevee."
"I think."

She pulled down her goggles, which made her eyes appear huge and bugged out. She knelt and looked closely at the strange Eevee and said nothing for an uncomfortably long amount of time.

Finally she stood up. "Failed experiment." The statement was very matter-of-fact. She smiled "Alright, well, see you later." The strange scientist started walking towards the elevators. She had a cup of coffee waiting for her.

Addison watched bewilderingly for a moment as Patches squirmed under the scientist's gaze before the other woman simply stood up and dubbed him a "failed experiment." She and the eevee exchanged a confused glance as the white-haired girl began to walk away. "Oi, oi! Hold up!" she called after, the loud clunking of her boots picking up again as she began to follow the scientist. Namely because she had to go that way as well, but she hadn't come across anyone before that told her what Patches was. "Whaddya mean 'failed experiment'? How'd you know? Was he one of ours?" she asked bluntly as the sulking Eevee began following in pursuit yet again.

"I don't know if someone down here made him. Certainly wasn't me, I wouldn't have messed up that bad. What? You can't tell it was an experiment? Huh." Nyx shrugged and pressed the up button for the elevator.

Well, obviously he wasn't naturally-born... but she didn't know where in Kodo he could've came from. "Well, I mean, I don't know." she huffed, waiting for the elevator as well. "I mean, for Arceus' sake, I thought he was a stuffed toy when I saw him just laying around Makko! Maybe he escaped from here or another lab... or somethin'."

Patches waited quietly at Addison's side, choking back muffled sobs at words like "messed up that bad," and "it" and "stuffed toy."

"Well, it is obvious that it was an attempt at either merging the power of all of the different branches of Eevee-Evolution, or enabling spontaneous evolution. However what you seem to have, is a hodgepodge of non-functioning evolutions." The doors to the elevator opened and Nyx stepped inside and waited for the other girl.

"Huh," she murmured, dragging a gloved hand through her soot-smudged hair as she gnawed at the tip of her toothpick in thought before slipping inside the elevator. "Non-functioning, eh? That would x'plain why he's only got standard attacks like tackle... and tail whip." she droned, extending a finger to press the '04' button, before quickly correcting herself and choosing '4' instead. "You'd think that he'd be able to conduct some electricity, 'cos he's got part Jolteon him? But, nah, he can't. Not that I tried.... Intentionally." she muttered under her breath, making sure Patches got through the door before it closed on him. "You like... a vet-tech or bio-engineer down here or somethin'?"
PostPosted: Sun May 09, 2010 11:08 pm

"Bio-engineer. My name is Nyx. I'm also going to take a guess and say that your Eevee is incapable of evolving. Genetic code is probably far too damaged. I can run some tests, if you'd like. Make sure it is healthy and not in danger of falling apart. Literally. That's happened with these kinds of experiments. Eevee-goo, all over the place." Not that she had any first-hand experience with it.
Sure, she'd been curious to try it this sort of experiment. Every bio-engineer with half a brain thought about it. But it was too difficult. Even if it worked, all of the theories she'd heard about resulted in amazingly short life-spans.

"Ohh, very cool. I'm Addison." she introduced in return before leaning back against the cool steel wall as she listened to Nyx note off the dangers of Patches' predicament. She stole a glance down at the distressed-looking eevee, feeling a little bad for the misfit and beginning to wonder if he was ever a normal eevee at one point, or just purely lab-based. Putting things together wasn't her area of expertise, only destroying things via large and flashy explosions. "That'd be good. Wouldn't want him goin' all leprosy on me and start fallin' apart at the seams." Literally. She had wondered if his limbs were detachable, but never actually tried it before.
PostPosted: Sun May 09, 2010 11:34 pm

"Alright, well. Even if it isn't stable, it doesn't look in immediate danger of falling apart. So if you want to bring it down to my lab later." Nyx pulled out a notebook, wrote a number on it, ripped the sheet of paper out, and handed it to Addison. "I can give, uh, him a looking over. As of right now I'm on break, I haven't slept for forty-eight hours and I desperately need coffee."

"All-righty then, very righteous." she mused with a wry grin, giving the number on the paper a look-over before folding it and slipping it into her pocket. "That's fine. I need ta get this blasting jelly to the boys up in demolition anyway before they send someone after me."
