Name: Rothkhin Age: 14 Gender: Male Sexual Orientation: Pansexual (with a bias towards females) Craft: Beastcraft Rank: Apprentice/candidate, not yet searched
History: Rothkhin, along with his younger sister Alaria, were raised in a cothold off the coast in Telgar's small little portion of coast. His father worked with the runners and his mother worked in the kitchens. Being raised in such a small place, can and does usually lead to some rather interesting situations. Since he’s an active child, he’s been in his fair share of trouble, including nabbing extra servings of food.
About the time that Rothkhin began to be able to do some hard work, he began to get into trouble. Instead of doing his chores, he’s shirk his duties in order to do things that interested him more, and learned early on that if he charmed the adults who caught him, he could usually get out of trouble. As he got older, it became a little harder since most of the adults had learned his game. Nonetheless, he continued to get into trouble, so his mother and father decided in an attempt to curb his attention to more productive activities, has been trying to teach him the ways of the beast craft, so a lot of his time is spent outside doing chores under his father’s watchful eye or inside helping to take care of his younger siblings under his mother’s watchful eye. However, as much as he enjoys being around the beasts of the beasthold, he has no real desire to follow in his father’s footsteps. On trips to Telgar for Gatherings with his father, he'd hear tales of dragonriders and his overactive imagination led him to believe he'd make a good dragonrider, and perhaps have his own tales told about him someday.
Appearance: Rothkhin is a burly child, bordering chubby. At fourteen he still hasn’t lost his baby fat, so retains the roundness of boyishness despite his 5’11” height and a hundred and seventy pounds of bulk. Because he spends most of his time outside, his skin retains a permanent tan. He has short dark brown hair that looks as if a runnerbeast has chewed on it a few times (which it probably has been) because of its choppy tendency to stick straight up at odd angles. His eyes are equally as dark, nearly black in color and give him a beady-eyed look. A small splotchy birthmark is hidden just under his hair at the front of his head turns his hair white. In juxtaposition with his babyish facial features, Rothkhin has a hulking look about him. His shoulders are slightly stooped, and his arms are a tad longer than his torso is, just noticeable enough to give him an apish appearance, since his hands are also large with pudgy fingers. Although his neck does exist, it too is thick so he often will turn his entire body to look at something instead of turning his head. It's surprising he has ever managed to sneak around anywhere, but he is surprisingly agile despite this look.
Personality: The three words that best describe Rothkhin is brash, charismatic and hyperactive. Oftentimes he does things without thinking, which ends him up in some serious trouble every now and then, but his charismatic side normally gets him a lesser punishment, if not out of trouble all together. He has a soft spot for animals of all kinds, and the only time he really settles down is when he’s helping the beastcrafters heal an injured animal. He can be forgetful at times as well, often distracted from his chores and running off instead to do other things that are more fun, but he’s reliable when it counts Although Ro can and does get along with most everyone, his favorite audience are kids younger than he is, mostly because he sees them as more fun and less susceptible to the responsible tendencies of older children and adults. Just because he can handle the responsibilities of a teenager doesn't mean he want's to after all! Although quick when it comes to thinking up ways to cause trouble, he is somewhat dense when it comes to things being told to him. It would not be out of character for someone to tell him "Pern is round" and for him to argue that Pern can't be round, because if it was round then everything would be sliding off the surface of it.

Hello and welcome to DRoP! <33 I’ve just got a few minor things that I need you to change and then you’re good to go.
- If his father was a beastcrafter and he was teaching Rothkhin the craft that would make him an apprentice beastcrafter. Since it’s a Holdcraft, he would be able to achieve that rank at home. He can’t, however, be a beastcrafter of no rank.
- Southern Boll is a Fort-protected Hold, so unfortunately your characters can’t come from there. You’d need to pick a Hold or a cothold under Telgar jurisdiction. Three of the major ones can be found in the Telgar Weyr sticky in our information sub forum.
- We’re currently nearing the end of an Interval, so there hasn’t been any Thread falling for a long time. It’s possible he may have seen a dragon flying by, but the chances are fairly slim.
- At 5’11” and 200 pounds he’s well into overweight rather than just “burly.” You’ll need to justify how he’s reached this weight since his family isn’t rich and is a working-class family and thus wouldn’t have the means to provide enough food to get him to that weight. It’s a lot easier to just use adjectives rather than actual numbers when describing appearances. I’ve also never heard of a case in which hair turns white as a result of a birthmark. If you could find me some sort of documentation of a case like this then I’d be willing to accept it, otherwise I’m afraid I can’t.
- I’ll accept stubbornly dense as one of his flaws, however he needs another one. If you could either add another one or highlight something in his personality that you believe counts as his second flaw that would be awesome.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I've changed his weight to make him on the heavier side of healthy, but still heavyset. I've also changed his rank, where he comes from (found a map and from what it was saying Telgar does protect a small strip of beach between Fort and Igen territories. Also changed why he's wanted to become a dragonrider, and will be doing the same for Alaria when I get to her. Highlighted what I consider his second personality flaw. As for the birthmark, I've known two or three people over the course of my lifetime who have had various markings like this. Basically it's the follicular equivalent of a birth mark... and it results in a lack of pigmentation, and does have a medical term for it, but for the life of me I can't find the name of it. I don't have photo's either, but if you go Here the guy's daughter has a similar birthmark on the back of her head and he show's a picture of it. I'm currently researching for the name of this particular kind of birthmark, and when I find it I'll post it here, but if I have to, I suppose he doesn't have to have it.

Okay, I will accept the birthmark then! <3 If you find the medical name let me know. Now I'm curious.
Unfortunately, I still have a bit of trouble with your second flaw.
"Oftentimes he does things without thinking, which ends him up in some serious trouble every now and then, but his charismatic side normally gets him a lesser punishment, if not out of trouble all together."
Flaws need to be something that one of his other characteristics can't really save. If he doesn't get into trouble or gets a lesser punishment then his reckless/impulsive flaw is basically negated. D:

It doesn't always work. But I can change it. I just had this image of a babyfaced young man managing to get out of some of the trouble he manages to get himself into. Normally was to broad a word... I should maybe have said 'can get out of it when people don't know his reputation'. Doesn't mean he doesn't try... but talking himself out of punishment for forgetting chores doesn't seem like a flaw, yes. Give me a few hours to think of something new, as I'm going to a concert for a cousin here in a few minutes.
