User ImageIt was another afternoon of solitude for the streaked cheetah, though not one she imposed on herself. A sleek black tail shoved aside the ground's grasses as its impatience showed through its rapid movement. The burning fire that rested in the cheetah's eyes flickered dangerously out of boredom, and darkened brown paws silently clawed at the ground before her. She had laid down after a successful hunt - the yield of it resting not quite so tranquilly off to the side, and the humming of insects could be heard faintly as they started to congregate on the exposed flesh and bones. It wasn't quite a capture; she lacked the need to down something greater than what she needed, as the right amount of food brought the right amount of satisfaction to her.

But all of that would have been more exciting if she had someone to share in the chase, the hunt, and meal. This female cheetah, being a particularly social creature - more sociable than other cheetahs - often felt compelled to seek others to solve her isolation from life. Being around others was simply life for her, and she would not have it any other way. A day going by without making a new friend or running with another was too horrible to imagine, though she suspected they had to come by sometimes, especially with her endless wanderlust.

With a formal sigh exhaling to the slight savanna breeze, the cheetah got up, letting more of the sun hit her glossy coat, and started to pace - then turning the strides into a full circle. She had met so many others - particularly male cheetahs coincidentally (or perhaps she subconsciously picked them out to meet), but none she would ever see again. That was fine for now, as long as she had others to meet - if only the sun could expel a companion for her daily as soon as she wished!

She then looked up at the sky, avoiding the bright gaze of the sun, and shouted, "Grant me my wish, you!"

Nanashi was walking, as he usually was, when he'd somehow managed to slip away from his sister. If he stopped walking, Aiko would catch up and well, he didn't want that. She was annoyingly hyper some times, but mostly, it was because she was just so...so...well, annoying. He sighed. He loved his family, but sometimes he just wanted his own company.

His paws hit the dirt with satisfying thuds, the only sound he could hear and he closed his eyes as he walked, his shoulders relaxing with every movement. He had a lazy grace to his movements, which seemed to guide his steps even as he wasn't watching where he was going. His dark coat soaked up the warm sun, drawing a reluctant purr from his throat.

Silence. All he could hear was himself and his own movements. He heard his stomach growl and snickered, breaking the silence on purpose. He had not hunted that morning, too busy with patrolling the small spot his family had claimed, to really pay attention to food, but now his stomach was starting to protest. His eyes slipped open, and he glanced at the landscape he now found himself in.

A glimpse of colour, darker than average, surprised him and drew his eye. It was a cheetah, a female, and she was pacing. He narrowed his gaze and paused his movements, just watching her. Would he bother to approach, he wondered, enjoying his company perhaps a little too much to be thrilled at the sudden company. Her words seemed to register and Nanashi quirked a faint smile.

"Talking to yourself is a sign of insanity," he called out dryly.

It was ironic that she was oblivious to company. Wasn't that what she was searching for most throughout her days? Not for the necessity, but for the possibilities and enrichment brought from each encounter. That, and solitude perhaps didn't quite suit her. Social creatures had such a hard time!

It was automatic, though - her attention snapped immediately to the strange (but welcoming) presence, and she couldn't resist an instinctive smirk when, without surprise, it was a male cheetah. It was uncanny how most of her new companions were exactly that. At first, she wasn't aware of his greeting's implications, instead focused on the appeal of his pristine near-black coat; soft blue eyes surrounded by the darkness framed by the look of aptness made her all the more curious to who he exactly was.

But physical appearances weren't everything, of course.

"Huh," came out at first, realization of his words sinking slowly, "Is that what it is?"

Her own expression was a mix of being quizzical at his almost stern tone, but she was able to muster a smile as always. She was a female cheetah eternally open to the various types of folk who wandered the lands, and a cold first impression would have to be deeply severe to alter her cheerful disposition.

"Who are you to say that?" she began playfully, taking the few strides that separated them, "And what would that make you? The one talking to the insane."

He had an amused expression on his face as she finally seemed to work out what he had said, and tilted his head to side at her reply.

"Me? Why, I'm nobody," he said with a chuckle, as he eyed her pretty coat as she approached him. "How do you know I am not a figment of your imagination brought about by your insanity?" He shot her a crooked smirk. This was kind of fun, he thought, in amusement.

She seemed bright, and bubbly, actually happy which was a nice change to his sister, who was happy but it had a rather fake edge to it, like it was just a mask. This girl seemed actually happy.

"Nobody!" she exclaimed, with a tone that implied she half believed it.

"Your name is Nobody?" she hesitated to ask, surprised at such a prospect - however, the prospect of the male considering himself to be not a part of living existence was more foolish than being named Nobody.

"Well, I'm Kuchwa," she began, looking upwards quickly to actually considering his next question.

It almost dawned on her as if a faraway rock flung towards her hit her head - it was instantaneous and brought a change in her thinking. The black cheetah was trying to play at something with her, wasn't he? A smile creased onto her mouth as the feeling of beginning excitement crept into her skin.

"Ooooh," she said as she couldn't restrain a giggle to do along with it, "Well, if you're just my imagination, then... Do you feel this?!"

She jumped out, having stepped close enough to subtract the gap between them, and lightly rammed his side with her head as a tail went to swipe the ground's dirt onto his legs.

Nanashi shot her an amused look, though he hid it under a slightly skeptical gaze. Did she really think his name was Nobody? What a dumb name that would be, but she seemed almost to believe him. Far too trusting, he decided, far too much. "Nanashi," he told her, correcting her use of 'Nobody' as a name. "I simply meant I was nobody to claim how crazy, but now I am reconsidering," he chuckled, a heavy rumbling sound.

"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Kuchwa,
" he told her, out of polite formality. However, he didn't get much of a chance to remain formal, as she began to giggle move towards him.

Blinking in surprise as she purposely bumped into him, barely restraining from falling over but maintaining his footing. His nose twitched from the dust had stirred up and he wanted to growl over his dirtied fur, now his legs were covered in dust but he maintained his stoic pose, tilting his head up. "Of course I don't, I'm imaginary, remember?" He winked at her, surprised at himself. Immediately, he frowned. What was he doing? He was acting like a fool, playing games with her.
