With a great yawn, Cal emerged from her room. It had not been more than a day that she had been out of the infirmary, but she was still out and about. Her leg ached, but not as it had when she was stung by a Beedrill. Her visit to the infirmary had been very calm after she woke up, Mau and Skye were with her while she was asleep. They made the her stay more enjoyable, even though she had seen them for a brief time. Speaking of the two, where had Skye gone off to? Maybe Mau would know.
She soon found what room Mau had been staying in and made her way there; very slowly. When she reached his door, she was hesitant to knock. What if he wasn't there? What if her was with someone!? She thought for ten long seconds before finally knocking a few times on his door.
She waited a few more seconds. "Mau? It's me, Cal. Can I come in?"

Mau was too tired when he got back to his room to care. He had pretty much just fallen asleep as soon as he got in his room, and slept the next day away. When he had gotten up, not realizing how long he'd been out, he slipped into the small bathroom to get ready for the day. After a shower, while he was brushing his teeth, he heard something in his room crash. Startled, Mau stepped out only half dressed and saw one of his heat lamps had fallen. Odd. He quickly switched it off and inspected what would have knocked it over.
He didn't have to look too hard. There was a familiar blue and yellow tail sticking out of his cheri berry plant as a few leaves drifted down from it's bare, ravaged branches. Mau scowled slightly and grabbed the tail, pulling Skye from the plant and with a strange grace shifted his hold on the rodent so his hands were under the pikachu's arms and they were face to face.
"You ate all my-" he stopped at the knock and frowned. "Skye, you-" Cal's voice made him stop again. He sighed. "Come on in Cal." He called over his shoulder, still holding Skye.

Cal was reluctant to open the door. He sounds mad... She was thinking about turning around and just leaving. Lying to Mau would be simple. I didn't come to your room. On second thought, that wouldn't work... Out of sheer curiosity, she turned the knob before she knew what she was doing. "I-I was wondering if... You..."
Cal was at a loss for words. She had never seen Mau shirtless and she had to admit, he was very attractive. "I... Um.. I.." She had no clue what she was babbling about. Her face heated up with a light hue of red. It took her a few moments to notice that Mau was holding Skye. She reached for him, not once speaking another word to him. She kept her eyes down so that she wouldn't look like she was just ogling him.

He didn't turn to Cal when she entered, but instead kept staring at Skye until Cal reached for the pikachu. Mau let him go to her and turned to face them. "It seems Skye now knows I grow berries. But..." He looked to the poor cheri berry plant. "He's eaten all my spicy berries." Then an idea came to him and he addressed Skye directly. "You know this means that I'll no longer be able to make spicy poffins for you anymore." His tone was scolding.
Finally he looked up to Cal. "You're face is flushed. Are you feeling alright? You shouldn't be walking around so soon. You're obviously still not recovered." He gently put a hand on Cal's shoulder. "Come, have a ... a seat." One drawback to the setup Mau had his room in was that there were no chairs. The only place to sit was his bed. He guided her to the bed to sit, and knelt down on the floor, looking up at her, not even thinking about his state of undress. All he had were a pair of cotton black slacks and a gold chain around his neck sporting a ring hanging against his chest.

Skye didn't pay too much attention to Mau, being far too comatose from eating so many of his spicy berries. He had been there for days and Mau hadn't discovered his whereabouts until just then. He was living the high life pigging out on as many spicy berries that he could get his tinny paws on. His eyes were drooy and he seemed as if her would pass out at any given moment.
Cal's face was only getting worse as Mau sat her on his bed. "I'm fine... Really!" She turned away, squeezing Skye closer to her face trying to hide the ever growing blush that Mau thought was an after affect of her infirmary visit. It felt as if the blush was turning her ears a funny shade of red. Skye felt like nothing more than a plush toy being hugged to her chest as tight as possible. She could her her rapid heartbeat in her ears and felt that Mau could even her it. She wanted to withdraw into her black sweat pants and over sized shirt so that Mau couldn't see her.

Mau was now quite worried as Cal seemed to shrink in on herself. "Are you sure you're alright?" He rocked back on his heels, looking up at her. "What brought you here anyways? Your quarters aren't close to mine... are they?" He really didn't know.
He stared at her a moment more before standing up. "So um... Do you need anything? Gods, what time is it? I feel like I've been asleep for days."

Cal nodded her with a muffled "Yes" from behind Skye's head. She didn't really make eye contact with him, hoping that he would somehow get that she wasn't quite so sick. She sighed and gently put Skye on Mau's bed. "I was looking for him..." Her voice was low and weak, but she smiled nonetheless.
She thought about the directions to Mau's room in relation the hers. "Actually," She pause, mapping out the floor, "I'm down the hallway to the right!" She was proud that she actually knew where she was. She looked around Mau's room to keep her eyes off of him, noticing that he had lots of berry plants in his room. One in particular had been destroyed by a certain mouse pokemon. "Well, about the plant," She watched it seem to whither before her eyes, "I can get you a whole 'nother plant." She smiled at her secret fancy; growing berry plants in her closet. It was locked and Skye proofed from the day he arrived in her room. "I'll even make some poffins!" She smiled, looking back to him before realizing he still didn't have a shirt on then looked away again.

Mau thought about that. "Really? Huh. I didn't know that. Well, Guess we're almost neighbors then." Mau looked at the plant that was now all but useless. "No, getting just any plant wouldn't due for my research. I'd been working with that Cheri plant for a couple months. I just... have to start over, that's all. At least he only likes spicy, and my other plants are safe." He moved around some the plants and ducked out of view for a moment.
When he popped back up, he had two cans of mixed fruit juice. "Hm... Poffins? That all you cook, or can you make other things too?" He came back around to the bed and sat beside Cal, offering her one of the cans.

Cal was dieing a little inside. I wonder if he walks around without a shirt all the time? He's right around the corner so I could... She shooed these thoughts from her mind, taking the can of fruit juice from Mau and occupied herself with reading the label a few times over. Huh... You never really know what's in these things until you read them.
The ingredients on the back could only keep her attention for a little while, so she finally answering Mau's question. "I can cook lots of things!" She smiled, "I just want to compensate you for what Skye did to your Cheri plant..." She opened the can of fruit juice and took a delicate sip. "Just tell me what to do and I'll do it!" She paused, thinking that wasn't the best choice of words.

Mau had the can to his lips and almost choked on the juice at Cal's choice of words. Thankfully he recovered, sparing them both a spit-take. He cleared his throat. "Well then... I can think of three things you could do. One, is you could get me some more Cheri berries. I think 10 should be a good stock. I could work with that and get my research started again. The second thing would be to help me pika-proof my room, so Skye can't devastate my research." Mau was suddenly glad that he was only growing the more common berries in his room. If Skye got ahold of his other stock...
"The third thing..." He had to think a moment. He hadn't intended to say three. Slowly, a grin formed on his face...

Cal smiled awkwardly. Mau had obviously caught what she had said, but she was glad that he was going to take her offer. If he didn't ask anything of her, she would've felt horrible. Skye was her responsibility after all and the way he behaved was no excuses for what he did.
She nodded with each of his conditions. Still she tried to take no notice of his appearance, looking everywhere but his chest and ended up staring at his face intently. "Ten berries? No sweat!" She beamed proudly regarding her secret stash of berries for what seemed like every occasion. "To Pika-proof your room," She looked around, "I'll need a little time with that..." She laughed bashfully. "The third thing?" She looked at Mau curiously as to what he had in mind. What ever it was, didn't sound too pleasant by the way he was grinning. She still didn't want to back out, so with another wide grin she asked, "What is it?"

"You have to be my sparing partner." He said before taking another swig of his juice. "Gotta toughen up sometime, and I haven't had much of a chance to train since... well, since I came to Kodo. So you get to be my training partner until we've all toughened up a little." He shut his eyes thinking about the swamp, and how everyone had failed to find the pokemon they were sent to capture, and then the escapades when he'd run into Cal when he'd intended to train hard for a week.
Mau finished his drink and stood up, taking a couple steps into the bath that was connected to his room and tossed the can away. He paused a moment, looking at the mirror before turning away. He walked past Cal to the solid oak dresser that blended a little too well into the plants he had growing. He shuffled around in the drawers a moment before walking back to the bathroom. "Excuse me." And he closed the door, scolding himself for not realizing he was still in his sleep clothes, only half dressed even. And in front of a lady no less!

"Sparring?" She smiled, that wasn't too bad. "It sounds like a lot of fun!" She blushed a bit, liking the idea of spending more time with Mau. The training would be good too, not just for her pokemon's sake, but for her's as well. She need to train more and maybe, one day get promoted. Might as well start her training now. Training with Mau was a big plus. As her face began to heat up once more, she shooed the thoughts from her mind.
Cal mentally sighed in relief. He was finally going to put a shirt on after the torture she endured. Once he had disappeared into the bathroom, Cal took this chance to snoop around. She walked over and touched the plants, all were in good condition, except of course the one Skye had destroyed. She let her eyes trail over the various knickknacks on the the oak furniture. She peered into a partially open nightstand drawer, careful not to move anything, spying an old box with the pokemon league emblem on it. She laughed to herself, Mau was old.
She let her eyes roam until they his something of interest, a table, hidden behind a little of the clutter of plants. This table had picture frames with Mau, pokemon, rockets, and people in lab coats in them. Two of these pictures in particular caught her eye, those two had women in them. Her face grew hot once more a little jealous of them. "I should take some picture with Mau..." she mumbled to Skye. She thought for a moment, thinking that she obviously sounded crazy.

Mau stepped out of the bathroom a few minutes later in a pair of dark brown dress pants and a plain white button up shirt. He was fixing the button at the collar. He spotted Cal behind the plants, and snuck up behind her.
"I used to work with them." Mau said from behind her. "Before coming to Kodo that is." He reached past Cal and picked up one of the photos. It was a picture of Mau and a man with pink hair and minty green eyes in a lab coat. He had a round face and an innocent look, making him look like a jigglypuff almost. "My partner, Koi. Good man. Worked his tail off for the breeding program and research." After a moment, he started laughing. "He had the most annoying Magnemite. It would follow us around and, I don't even know, I think it thought it knew attract. It ended up attached to more then a few walls and fried more then one computer." He returned the picture to the table and put his hands on his hips. There were several pictures of him and Koi in the labs where Mau used to be, including one where the two of them being swarmed by Grimer.
There were a few photos of Mau and a moss-haired young man, and in all of them, it looked like they were fighting. There was a picture of Mau holding carrying an aqua-haired rocket woman bridal style, and she was hitting him with a pokeball. It shared a frame with a picture of her, Koi, the moss haired man and Mau, with Aki, a chatot, an aggron, a houndoom, a voltorb and magnemite.
At the back of the table, hidden behind the other pictures, was one of Mau and a woman. It looked kind of old. Mau was much younger in the picture, and he was leaning over the shorter, fair-skinned, green eyed girl. They were both laughing.
"I'm kind of a sentimental fool. Couldn't help but bring photos of my crew. I think you'd have liked them."

Cal was caught off guard, jumping at Mau's sudden appearance behind her. She let out a quiet yelp, bumping into the table and almost knocking them over. She appreciated his more suitable for of dress, even though she was still in baggy clothes looking much like a boy. She wanted to go change too, but that seemed awkward to leave and come back just to change.
Cal looked on at the pictures Mau was describing, trying to note down the details in her head. The man with pink hair interested her, he looked so cute and innocent. Why would he have joined Team Rocket? Well, they could ask the same about her. The stories Mau told were odd, but funny and she smiled as he told them. "You're just attractive." She said jokingly although she blushed a little.
She eyed the old picture of Mau and the greened eyed girl. She was pretty, far prettier than Cal considered herself, but most of her focus was on Mau. "What happened? You were so cute when you were young." She stressed the last part, trying to tease him.
"They all look like fun." She sighed. "I wounder if they would've liked me?" She strained a laugh with a slight smile.
