With a Scarsburough residential library card you can check out a number of books from the Library, relax at the few small tables or bean bags placed throughout the store, or select a copy of a book of the shelf and buy a brand new or used copy of that title at the counter! Hedwig's Haven also sells some novelty items, and also sells freshly brewed coffees, teas, espressos and more in the combination gift and coffee shop. No food or drink allowed in the library, however! Book and autograph signings are on every third Friday, check the board outside to see who we've got this month!

Come now, Jesse. We still have to buy you new... clothes... for school.

Jesse looked up from his spot on the carpet, a book lying open in his lap. "Can't we stay a little bit longer, please?"
Soft brown eyes were imploring as he looked up at his Father.

"Your appearance is more important than......." Micheal peered down at the book his son was reading, frowning lightly as he saw it was another book on music, a muggle one.
"...... let's go, Jesse." He said flatly, turning to leave. The boy spent too much time reading about music, listening to it, playing it. He regretted not introducing Jesse to a more useful hobby when he was younger.

Jesse frowned slightly down at the book and closed it with reluctance, but obeyed his father immediately.
His father already did so much for him, letting him wear some muggle clothes so he wouldn't look like a geek compared to the other kids, letting him have a few muggle things so he wouldn't be left out. He knew it was hard for Micheal, who was very traditionalist.
Jesse slipped the book back onto the shelf and stood, hurrying after his father.

Micheal held the door of the bookshop open for his son, putting a hand on his back to lead him out of the bookstore. The bright afternoon sunlight hit the boy's copper-brown hair and Micheal couldn't help but reach up to touch it, brush the hair away from his brooding child's face.
"We won't have to stay long." He said, letting the slight wind blow his own hair across his face. "You just need a few proper shirts."

"It's okay." Jesse shrugged, sticking his hands part way in his pockets. He wished he could have finished that book. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine." Micheal snapped, his fist clenching lightly in reflex. "..... you do understand that music is just a hobby? I just wish you would spend more time studying Potions, rather than leisure reading."

"I know." Jesse's eyes darted downwards, catching the motion of the hand, and he slipped his hand out of his pocket, quickly taking his father's relaxed hand. "How many shirts do I need to get? I could get some pants too."
Jesse looked down at his white muggle shorts and then smiled a little at his father, diverting the small show of anger.

Micheal sighed, suddenly looking tired as his twelve year old son took his hand and attempted to calm him. "You're too old to be holding hands, Jesse." He said, but made no move to make him stop.
Jesse was still so small, not undernourished but just a thin boy, somewhat delicate looking. The hand in his felt fragile, especially as he gave it a small squeeze in reassurance. He was fine, nothing to worry about.

"I like to though." Jesse said, moving closer to his father as they stood outside the book shop. "It doesn't mean I'm a baby."
He frowned, shaking the hair out of his face.
