OK First Off I know I Am overweight D:
I am A guy and I am 15 years old
I am 5’8
When I Started to try to loose weight I weighed a horrible 238 I am now 223 D:

What I am wondering is am I doing anything wrong? On Saturday I was 222.5 and today I weigh in and I gained half a pound? I am really Confused I eat a egg sandwich for breakfast, I don’t eat lunch because my school tries to make me eat at 10AM which is ridiculous and when I get home I eat a snack and later what ever my mom cooks. Now on top of that I work out everyday.
I do an hour of Cardio and then I move on to weights and stuff which the time on that usually changes.

Now Why did I gain Half a pound? It is like I put effort and I am getting nothing back. Today I did Two Hours of Cardio and I might make that an everyday thing! I Am Just wondering.

What am I doing wrong?

Although I have some ways to go I actually started to feel good about how I looked and this half a pound was like a Slap In the Face!

So yea.. I am Just looking for advice.

Thanks,
Carlos

That half a pound you gained is most likely muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat and if you're working out every day, your muscles are going to gain some mass, making them heavier. So don't think of it being bad. If you're feeling better and slimming down, even if you think you weigh a lot, then it's not such a bad thing. You're losing fat, but you're gaining muscle. Besides, at 5'8" I'd say you have a medium to large frame, yes? So eventually your body is going to weigh more proportionately to your height, which means it might not necessarily mean you're going to weigh 165 lbs, which is very lean for that height and build.

Fat weighs more than muscle.

But on top of that, you need to figure out a sort of diet plan. That doesn't mean go off and buy diet pills or starve yourself. You need a meal plan. Eating less does not equal losing weight because you'll tend to gorge yourself at meal time.

You should familiarize yourself with the food pyramid, for one, and follow all serving size suggestions for everything. Eating five small meals a day will also boost your metabolism to help you lose fat faster.

I eat a egg sandwich for breakfast
That's probably your first mistake. Egg yolks are loaded with fat. In fact, one egg yolk has almost your entire day's fat limit. If there is cheese or sausage on that sandwich, then you're probably over your limit.

So either ditch eggs or just eat the whites. Fruits, vegetables, and whole grains would also be good options.

I don’t eat lunch because my school tries to make me eat at 10AM which is ridiculous
That's probably your second mistake. If you're trying to lose weight, you should ideally be eating small meals/snacks often. That makes your metabolism say, "I guess I can run fast and burn all the fat I want; no need to store if I'm getting it often enough!" If you go all day without eating, on the other hand, your metabolism says, "I don't know what's going on out there...I better slow down and hang onto some of this fat in case there is a food shortage..."

So eat a small breakfast, then bring a small and healthy snack for lunch.

Now Why did I gain Half a pound?
Fat does weigh more. So don't worry so much about what the scale says.

So:

-Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.
-Cut down on fat. Be careful with dairy and meat in particular.
-Cut down on sugar. Be careful of soda, cookies, cakes, etc.
-Be careful with pre-packaged foods. They often have a lot of fat, sugar, salt, or all three.
-Be careful with eggs.
-Read nutrition labels. Pay attention to fat content.
-Keep up with the cardio.

Drink only water, milk, orange juice, Cranberry juice, that sort of thing. Also, no Alcohol. I believe it makes people gain weight, even though they say it doesn't.

Don't eat junk food of any kind, eat as healthy as possible. Go for 30 minutes to a hour of exercise.

Breathe in,

Cutting out some of your potatoes, and bread would probably help. Or just switch to whole grain bread would help some, too.

Another thing that would help:Fiber, because it can't be digested and it makes you "go", so it cleans out your digestive track. A little each day or a few times a week would be good.
Breathe out.

You are correct, alchohol does have calories in it. Why do you think they call it a "beer gut"? wink rofl

  • you're 15, and for guys you are just starting to grow
  • weight lifting adds muscle and bone density - both of which increase the amount you weight
  • real weight loss (achieving a health weight) takes time (months not weeks)
  • for your age, any weight over 200lbs should be brought to the attention of your doctor;
  • the American Heart Association recommends cardiac (heart) monitoring for the signs of heart disease;
  • further your weight puts you at risk for type 2 diabetes;
  • type 2 diabetes and heart disease is starting to appear as young as 14

Skipping meals is very bad and will make you either gain weight or not loose anymore weight.
So either eat at ten or take a snack and be sneaky while eating it.

Since you are lifting weights you are building mussel, mussel weighs more than fat.
You are likely burning fat and turning it to mussel.

A lot of that juice that you are drinking may be full of sugar, sometimes if you don't burn it off it can turn to fat.

Fiber, fiber is amazing it will clean your system out and it keeps your metabolism going. The grains is harder to burn so you burn calories by digesting it.

eggs are full of fat, I'd switch to whites or switch to something healthier.
