Joshua was pacing the floor of the living room. He was holding the phone in one hand, and seemed to be hesitant to dial the desired phone number. How was he to go about this? What was he supposed to say? Maybe it had all been a dream, anyway. Just a dream... Maybe he hadn't met Nataya in a kingdom of dolls at all.
Oh well, the worst thing that could happen was Nattie laughing at him. Wait, there was worse. What if Stasia picked up the phone? He didn't know what he'd do. With Zee so sick, he figured Stasia would be kept busy, and hopefully she wouldn't come over with a gun. He'd heard that parents tended to do that when boys asked their daughters out.
He dialed her phone number at last. His free hand was hung loosely at his side, his hand seemed to be seeking something as he tapped his leg. "Hello? Can Nattie come over?" His first instinct was to add 'and play', but he ignored it. He didn't want to sound stupid.

Nataya had dozed off on the couch, the sketchbook she'd been doodling in hanging haphazardly over the edge of the couch. She had been having tea and brunch with Aiteral when the phone slowly drew out of the sugary kingdom and back into "reality". She sat up slowly, the sketchbook finally losing it's grip and falling to the floor. The purple-fairy looked down, petting the little black dustbunny she'd accidentally woken. "Sorry, Toguki." she murmured before reaching over and answering the phone.
"H'llo?" she asked, her words slurred by sleep. "Oh. Hi Josh... Sure I can come over." she said, nodding and rubbing her eyes. "What time d'you wan' me to come over?" She'd need some time to wake up a bit before she'd be ready to walk or fly over to his house.

Joshua wondered at Nataya's obvious tiredness. "You were sleeping, weren't you?" he guessed. "I'm sorry I woke you up." Had she been dreaming? A tinge of guilt pulled at the back of his mind. "Maybe in an hour?" he suggested. That would give her time to wake up, and hopefully time for her to forgive him for waking her.
"Hey Nattie? Have you been having weird dreams lately? About sugar kingdoms and dolls, and all sorts of stuff?" He paused, it was now or never. Time to see if his dreams were really dreams, or something different. "I keep having them. There's this teddy bear... and these dolls, and they all seem to know me. Especially this one--she keeps trying to convince me to marry her. And then there's this princeling named Jaxon... He never leaves me alone. I never get out of the castle."

"Issokay, Josh. I needed to get up anyways." she assured him, stifling a yawn. An hour? Got it. By then, she'd be okay and hopefully back to her usually energetic self.
She paused, listening to him. "They aren't wierd, but yeah, I have the dreams. All the time. I saw you there...Rayne did too." she said, a look of confusion slowly spreading across her face. "So that really was you there?" she asked, even though she already knew the answer. Of course that had been him. She still had the teddy bear he'd given her.

Joshua was silent. He disagreed with Nattie, of course they were weird. They were dreams that weren't actual dreams. He took in a breath. So the ball had actually happened then; he'd wondered. "I remember Rayne," he said, considering. "Pest of a doll, nice, but entirely too gossipy? That's her, right? I think she said something about us being a good couple. Or maybe it was one of those other gossiping dolls..." It was hard telling them apart when you were ignoring them.
He hesitated for a moment. "I'll let you go now, Nattie. See you in an hour." He was too nervous, much too nervous, to tell her he had meant everything he'd said at the ball.
