No pics yet but I'll update this post when it's finished. It looks alright for an amateur but it turns out that a bike helmet was too big and jackets with prominent shoulders are mandatory or I look like a Daft Punk bobble head. So do you have/are working on/planning to make a helmet by one of them? Discuss materials, helmets, lighting and all that fun stuff. [:

Fo sho. Have you seen his custom robot outfit with The Device has been Modified playing to the vid? Really impressive gloves. Do you know a lot about EL wire? I noticed his feet switched between green and blue and I didn't know that was possible. I've thought about ordering some if I could but I wouldn't know what kind to look for or what I needed.

I'm hoping I'll finish today. It's just such a tedious procedure to smooth every little imperfection. The paint really magnifies it and makes it look like crap.
So here's a question for anyone. What do you think of people who make their helmets and sell them to the highest bidder? I found this video a while back and was wildly impressed by how reflective he made the helmet and gloves but then something popped up saying to contact him about buying it. It seems disrespectful to Daft Punk's originality to profit from their designs.

I'm very impressed by the shininess too! Selling homemade helmets is a fine idea to make money but it doesn't seem right. Making them yourself shows your dedication to Daft Punk. Making a profit from it seems dirty though. It's like turning Daft Punk's creative idea into a sell out. Am I making sense? :P I don't really know how to explain what I mean but I just don't like the idea of selling them.

I know what you mean. But really, if you just want to make a buck, if you have the skill to make a helmet you must have the creativity to make your own design and sell that. Like let's say if I became an internet sensation for doing weird antics while wearing my A.bot helmet I could make and sell more to my fans. But on the other hand if someone decided to copy my helmet and sell it themselves then I'd be pissed they would do that without my permission.

Yeah I don't think it's very respectful to be selling re-makes of original designs for profit either. If I knew how, step-by-step, I would definitely make my own helmet.

It's not really hard. A challenge but a great project.
