School was out and Devi couldn't be more excited to get home and try to get some rest. The nightmares had been getting worse, and she'd been sleeping a lot less. Her books in hand, she started heading home as quickly as her exhausted body could manage. Not paying much attention to her footing, and being one who is prone to being embarrassed, she tripped on the last of the steps outside, falling onto her chin and sending her books and papers into the air.
She picked herself up, her chin was bleeding and her papers were scattered everywhere as a stampede of students stepped on her belongings. A few turned and laughed, and Devi started muttering under her breath. Something about slitting their throats and ripping off their ears or something along those lines. She was too tired to lose total control.
She started looking for her papers and books, but couldn't be seen in the crowd of shuffling feet rushing out of school.

It seemed the nightmares were plaguing everyone. His step-mother, his sister, even Damian himself. They were getting so bad that he was basically running on constant shots of 5-Hour Energy, and about three hours of sleep a night. His grades were slipping and he was getting more and more irritable. Really he just wanted to go home and try to pass out without dreaming. But he knew that wouldn't happen, he'd go home scrape out some homework, and then have to go patrol as Orion. He'd get in at about three am and have the crappiest sleep ever for three hours before he woke up at six.
It was with these wonderful thoughts that he headed down the steps after school. He wasn't paying a lot of attention, but he did notice when a girl got knocked over and no one stopped to help. Some jerk even laughed. Now Damian wasn't one to get angry right off the bat, but this wasn't normal Damian. "Hey, a*****e! Why don't you stop being a douche and help her instead of laughing?" The guy he was yelling at just flipped him the bird and then walked off with his friends laughing at the red head.
Damian rolled his eyes and then went over to the girl that fell, crouching down next to her. "Are you okay?" It took him a moment to notice the blood on her chin and he frowned. "Oh damn, you're bleeding. Here, let's get your stuff then we can get a band aid or something." He started forcefully shoving people out of the way so he could find all her books, ignoring the protests from the other students. Someone stepped on his fingers and he hissed in pain, those were the fingers he burned picking up one of his meteors. Ignoring the pain he gathered up all the books and papers he could find, moving back to her side. "Is this all of it?"

"Thank you," she stated under her breath, and then repeated a little more loudly. She wasn't very good with first encounters - especially with boys her age. They usually consisted of her silently staring at them, cracking an inappropriate joke, and getting angry when they are creeped out by her. She has a few friends of the opposite sex, but they're more of kind acquaintances than true friends. As such, her interactions with the opposite sex in recent years have been limited, to say the least.
"Thank you for helping me, nobody else would," she said nervously, trying to be a wee bit more assertive. This was a big step for Devi, and would have been a greater moment if she weren't so obviously bleeding from her chin. "Yes, thats all of it." She didn't really look to check, but she didn't want to bother the boy who was being so nice to her already.

"You're welcome." He threw the words over his shoulder as he went to retrieve her books. When he got back over to her he smiled. "Don't worry about it, a lot of these people are jerks." He rolled his eyes a bit and then after shifting all of her books and things to the crook of one arm he stood up, offering a hand down to her. "Here, I think I have a first aid kit in my car if you want a band aid and some Neosporin? Wouldn't want to scar a pretty face like yours." He smiled down at her as if saving damsels in distress is what he did everyday. To be fair ever since he became Sailor Orion it was pretty much what he did every day, or night rather. He was just lucky that he started keeping a first aid kit in his car after the first time he got hurt as Orion.

D-Did he just call Devi 'pretty?' At sixteen, this is the first time she had been called that term by a boy before. Her felt her face turning bright red and she did her best to control it, hiding her face in behind one of her books, trying to think of what to say next. Does she say thank you? Or is that strange? Does she smile? Does she say something nice back? Yes. She should do that.
And so, Devi made her first attempt at flirtation.
"Thank you, you are very pretty too," she said, then flashing the most awkward uncomfortable smile to have ever existed. It looked more like someone was stretching her cheeks towards her ears more than performing the everyday human ritual of smiling. It was not very attractive, especially with the bleeding chin.

Damian watched as the girl flushed before she managed to hide her face, his smile growing a bit. It was always a nice feeling to flatter a girl enough that she blushed. He kept his hand out in case she decided to take it, she seemed a bit distracted by his compliment at the current moment.
Her words were the last thing he expected and he had to bite his lip to keep from laughing, but he managed. Instead he gave her his best smile. "Thanks. Now, let's get you cleaned up." At the moment her smile was kind of unsettling, but he had a feeling it'd be a lot nicer without blood seeping from her chin.

Devi nodded and finally rose up onto her feet, standing up...short. Even standing, she still had to look up at the boy, but she was a short girl. "You said you have a first aide kit in your car?" she asked redundantly. She had heard him clearly the first time, but she really wanted a band aid to cover her bleeding chin. Her parents had always told her not to follow strange boys to their cars, but he seemed plenty nice and didn't seem like he was going to hurt her.
Besides, he called her pretty.

Once she was up he smiled down at her, she was a dainty little thing. He liked petite girls personally, there was just something hot about being able to pick a girl up. He took a moment to drag his mind out of the gutter so that he could answer her question. "Yeah, it's just in the student parking lot, c'mon." He headed towards the student parking lot after he was sure she was following him.
"Oh, by the way, I'm Damian. Are you a senior? I don't think I've seen you in any of my classes." He looked down at her as he talked, interest showing in his eyes. The girl was certainly pretty enough when she wasn't smiling like an awkward turtle. Maybe he'd ask her out on a date, he hadn't been out in a while. Then again he hadn't been out in a while because he was working on getting Alessa to go out with him, but still. He could handle both girls...maybe.

"No, I'm a junior," Devi said, answering his question. She continued following him to his car when she realized that he had given her his name. She should reciprocate. "My name is Devi. Well, its Devorah, but if you call me that I'll have to cut you up and kill you." That came off creepier than she meant to, and she knew that those types of jokes were often not well received. "N-not literally. I was only kidding."
Devi sucked. At life.
"Are you graduating soon?" she asked, trying to change the topic.

Ah, well that made sense. "No wonder I haven't met you till now, which is a shame really." Yes, Damian laid the flirting on constantly, it was like it just seeped out of him. He opened his mouth to make a comment on her name but was stopped short by her joke about cutting him up and killing him. Well that was...different. "Note to self: Never call Devi Devorah, she may shank you." He laughed, trying to ease the awkward moment. "Too bad you didn't threaten to whip me, then I could call you Devo." Yeah, Devi wasn't the only one who could make really creepy awkward jokes.
He nodded in response, "Yeah, in June. It's going to be so great to get out of here." They had reached his car by then, a dark green Jeep Wrangler, and digging in his pocket he pulled out the keys, unlocking the doors. "Alright, lemme just find that kit." He set her books and things down on the floor of the passenger seat after opening the forward passenger door. "You can go ahead and sit if you want, might make it easier to clean up your chin." He smiled and then opened the rear door, rummaging in his back seat for the red tin box with a white cross on it.

Devi frowned briefly at the 'Devo' comment, but she didn't want to say anything. She couldn't tell if he was making fun of her or just making jokes, but he was being so nice to her and helping her find a band-aid that she pretended not to care. Nonetheless, she fidgeting her fingers, a little frustrated.
She accepted his offer to sit, and upon doing so noticed how filthy her legs were, probably from the fall. Hopefully Damian hadn't noticed! She started to brush herself off frantically, not wanting to be perceived as the type of girl who will allow herself to get covered in filth.
"What are you doing after graduation?" Devi asked, thinking it would be an appropriate follow-up question to her last inquiry.

Damian was too absorbed in searching for the first aid kit to notice that her legs were dirty. Not that he would've minded, a girl who knew how to get dirty was never a bad thing. He was pushing jumper cables to the side when he heard her question. He raised his voice when he answered to make sure she could hear him. "I'm gonna start working full time at Big Willy's Records, I'm part time now. My step-mom wants me to try and get into DCU, but I'm not feeling it. I'm thinking of starting a band actually. I play guitar." He was shifting things around as he was talking and finally he found the box. "Ah ha!" He pulled himself out of the back seat and moved back to the front seat standing in front of her.
"All right, let's see what we have in here." Truthfully he hadn't actually used the first aid kit yet. Setting it down on the dash he opened it up and poked around, there was a lot of junk in there. "Okay, so we can just put some Neosporin and a band aid on it, or I can go all nurse on you, and bust out the antiseptic swabs. Up to you." He smiled at her the tube of Neosporin in one hand and the antiseptic swabs in the other.

"Antiseptics," she said. She knew it was more of a pain (literally) but she didn't want to leave the wound dirty. Hell, just the very thought of leaving it that way bothered her. She perked up a bit when he mentioned she played the guitar. There was something about guys who played guitar that she founded to be so...dreamy.
When she was in her pretween boy craze days, she used to have posters of various boy bands on her wall, and she always swooned over the guitarists. "Do you like to play electric or acoustic?" The fact that there was a difference between the two was about all she knew about guitars, however.

"The lady gets what the lady wants, antiseptics it is." He smiled and put the Neosporin away for the moment, also putting the antiseptic swap next to the box. He rummaged through until he found a disinfecting swab and tearing the paper he jimmied it out, wiping his hands off so they were at least semi clean. It seemed the boy actually played attention in health class.
He talked while he cleaned his hands, grinning since she seemed interested in his guitar playing. "I play both, I really love acoustic but I'll probably mainly play electric in the band. Maybe I can play for you sometime." Once his hands were as clean as they were going to get he crumpled the swab up and set it on the dash to be thrown away later. "You don't happen to sing do you? I could use a cute lead singer." He smiled and picked up the antiseptic swab. Ripping the top off he pulled out the wipe the same way as he did the other swab.
Leaning forwards he examined the scrape. "Alright, this might hurt a bit, sorry." One hand went under her chin to steady her head, careful not to touch the scrape and the other one very gently began to dab at it. He didn't wipe too hard not wanting to hurt her, but he was careful to try to get all the dirt out.

A rare, genuine smile swooped across Devi's face for a few short moments as he called her cute. Cute and pretty all in one day? And from a guitarist? She was getting overwhelmed by his flirtations.
The smile faded as soon as the swab touched her chin, and she immediately flinched. She let him clean the wound, but it still stung even though she tried her best not to show it. "I don't sing," she said, trying to ignore the pain. Damn. Why couldn't she have a singing talent? Better to be honest, though. "Not well, at least."
"I'd like to hear you play sometime," she said, taking one small step for man, one giant leap for Devi's social life. She wasn't one to take the initiative in making plans for social interactions, especially amidst flirtation.
