You know when you hold a rifle and it just feels so...perfectly right? This is the one for me. (and no, I don't care what you say about the stock because it fits me just fine) It's the AMD-65 Hungarian AK variant. It is a Nodak manufacture with minimal 922r compliance parts, imported by TGI. I really don't feel like saying just what I paid for it, just the $100 off sticker was one of the deciding factors. I tested it with a couple types of mags and found absolutely zero wobble. Also no canted sights or gas block. The stock locks up solidly in both positions with no play at all. The real test will be when I eventually make it to the range again, but until then it looks like it is good to go. So far I also got a steel tanker mag that came with it, a tapco polymer mag, about 30 rds of ammo and a boresnake. I'm truly still having a hard time looking at the pic and saying that's mine. Up until a couple years ago, I never thought I'd ever own a rifle since I had no real use for it and an AK seemed especially useless. I blame you guys. biggrin Here's a teaser for you until I get past the week waiting period: On a side note, cosmoline appears to just be some sort of low grade water pump / white grease. If that's the case, this will be easier than I thought since I already have plenty of experience with the stuff.

That's a pretty AK. Can't say I'm too fond of the wire stock or foregrip, but whatever's the most comfortable for you. Nice buy; looks like a real fine example of the AK platform.
I'm really hoping to get a single action revolver sometime soon, as they just feel so right. Never got that feeling from a rifle, though. sad
By the way, what's "EBR?"

EBR means "evil black rifle" It's just a term coined to describe stuff like ARs, AKs and other modern military based weapons. I think it was kind of a humerous poke at the left.

Congratulations! Looks like you got a winner.
Hope to see some target photos from the range when you get them.

Floyd Congratulations! Looks like you got a winner. Hope to see some target photos from the range when you get them. As long as you promise not to laugh. Really, I'm not sure when I'll get there between being a long drive and my current schedule. When I do, I will certainly post pics.

Man of the Demoneye Floyd Congratulations! Looks like you got a winner. Hope to see some target photos from the range when you get them. As long as you promise not to laugh. Really, I'm not sure when I'll get there between being a long drive and my current schedule. When I do, I will certainly post pics. I think it's mostly sights that make the Mosin and AK have "bad" accuracy. My groups with my Mosin are square. If you buy a good set of sights for your AK, you'll probably shoot pretty accurately. (For an old Russian rifle.) I hear Tech Sights are pretty good, though they cost around 100 dollars.

I dunno. It just doesn't look right to me. I like my AKs to have the full wooden stock, and the forward grip seems unnecessary.
Still, congrats.

Really though, I've never shot a rifle bigger than a .22 (well, other than shotguns & BP pistol), so I have no idea what to expect when it comes to recoil or how to adjust sights for range or judge wind. I probably won't shoot over 75-100 yds anyways. I did look at TechSights when I saw it in a magazine. Looks good, but not sure if I would want to go that route or get optics. Depends on how it performs the first time to see if I want to get either. @ Buckner - Looks good.

Not too much, but enough to let you understand the power in your hands.

Win. I don't care for the foregrip, but to each his own. Looking forward to more pictures.
Also, I never mentioned it before, but your Travis Touchdown avatar is badass. When I end up with my Helter Skelter avatar again, we should have a duel.

The piston tube being attached to the barrel prevents mechanical accuracy. It flexes and shakes the barrel.

We have at least 5 or 6 of those same rifles at a sporting goods store about 10 minutes from my house. They had them on sale for $ 399 last week.
