User ImageA small area of ground vibrated as the coming of a rather bulky lion passed through the terrain; eyes were open and bright in pure interest as he neared the grounds of where royalty tended to roam; that is not to say that he wasn't a vague part of that line himself, but it definitely wasn't the dens he would call his own. The mild, bashful boy was more likely to keep to himself, his family, and the youth he grew up with in both the times of peace and strife he observed in the Mizimu, and nothing extraordinary made him wish to go beyond his boundaries.

However, things have settled down, and the white-maned son of Chuma had long since birth proved his loyalty to the Mizimu, following the devotion both his father and mother had for the pride. There were looser restrictions on business occurring within, and it just happened to be an off day on which the male found curiosity to be too potent a temptation to wander through the royalty's den; it had been a while since news had come, after all. Perhaps there was something to be learned, or at least an interaction to be had that would guide him in his trade; he hadn't been able to truly walk in the same steps as his father, as he had been young when the Claw was needed quite recently. As he wasn't quite grown, he didn't find he was near the skillful level needed to be half as inspiring as tales of his father. Maybe the great warleader Sakata would have had time to guide his claw, if he was lucky.

With this hopeful intent in mind, the young adult stepped courteously around, feeling the need to announce his presence for good manners, "Helloo, is any royalty or anyone in the place?.. It's Janja. Janja'Nafsi..."

While things had indeed settled down, not everyone had proven their loyalty. Kizuka had, indeed, proven exactly the opposite. Resentful and full of ambition, she had desired to become seen as more than just an offshoot of the royal family tree. As such she'd proven fertile ground for treacherous words, and it had cost her dearly. In a way, now she was more than just another royal relative. Now she was an enslaved royal relative, serving as amusement for the Royal Sacrifices.

Be careful what you wish for, Kizuka mused, before a voice interrupted her thoughts. Frowning, she rose to pad out of her tiny den. A milky eye stared blindly at the pale-maned stranger, while the other one studied him. "The queen is in seclusion, and the others are not here. I do not think a slave would interest you."

Janja heard the shuffling on the ground of someone coming out to greet him; his eyes focused more intently in anticipation, and not a second later he saw a black form emerge from a small entrance. He recognized her; he had seen her during Sakata's great triumph and issuing of punishments to the Mizimu's criminals of war, which brought a vivid memory, though he recalled seeing her around the pride before then, too - she just had not been as noticeable.

"Kizuka'ruya," he said in a rather neutral yet hesitant voice; he wasn't sure what to think, knowing that she deserved whatever Sakata imposed on her, yet not knowing the true extent of her offenses.

He took a few more steps towards her despite the statement, getting a good look on his much older second cousin. He briefly gazed at her clawless paws, then turned to her one working eye. She must have done a great deal of damage to the Mizimu to suffer such things.

"Oh," he said as he looked back for no reason, as he most likely intended on staying, "Right then. So there's no one guarding you now."

Janja took another step closer to Kizuka, raising his head to look into the den behind her; it was apparent that Kizuka was the only one around.

"Hrmm, well then, maybe I can see to... securing you, you know. With no - what was it you had to do? Without our royal cousins around, someone like you could have too much time on their paws? I'd lend a claw, I'm on free time as my sparring partners are resting."

"Yes, that is I." Kizuka dipped her head in acknowledgement, standing quietly as he finished his examination. Others had been crippled and scarred in the war, but Malaika and herself had received...unusual ones. Such punishments served as warnings of what the cost of treachery could be, and were meant to be seen. She couldn't blame the young male for staring.

An ear flicked back at the mention of a guard, however, her temper flaring. "I am not so stupid as to think I would have a chance of escaping, guard or not," she muttered. "Running does little good when you cannot hunt." Another slave? Maybe. Some of them had seemed to enter slavery with little in the way of crippling wounds. Not her.

Exhaling a deep breath through her nostrils, she nodded again. "As they are not in need of me at the moment, I imagine you could do so."

Help. Ha, ha.

Janja was taken aback by Kizuka'ruya's volatile reaction; though, on second thought, he shouldn't have been, because she was a slave, after all. If he had been in the same situation, perhaps his temper would have changed. But he wasn't angered easily, so he was always skittish whenever someone was acting hostile around him.

He was grateful, at least, that she was responding, and appropriately, if one could call it that.

"W-why can't you hunt?" he inquired, containing himself so as to not stutter again, "I mean, if you can run out from here..."

Janja, though perhaps showing it by his speech and appearance, did not have much to worry about. If Kizuka'ruya was able to harm him in her position, he would have had enough strength to handle her from his training. And it wasn't as if the lioness had much fire in her to do something about the situation anyways.

"At the very least... you s-shouldn't... be left alone?"
