Hinekiri sat deep in a den, it had been days since she had come out of the den, days since she had even seen the light of day, or talked to another. The news had come back to the pride shortly before she had sank deep into the den, Kana had been killed, and Mizu was assumed dead as well. It was a tragidy, Hinekiri had lost both her mother and sister in one incident she didn't know who to respond or what to do, so she just sat in the dark waiting. She wasn't sure what she was waiting for but she knew she was waiting.

The cub was dirty to the appearence, something she would have never allowed to happen normally, her pelt was something she had great pride in, she felt that it was her most distinguishing factor, a gift from her mother who was now gone. Hinekiri had defined herself based on being her mother's spitting image and now she felt like she knew nothing at all. The cub moved into a laying position, eyes stinging with tears she had shead over the days.

Bwana moved over the territory slowly, unsure of himself. It was easy enough to walk around like you were a total bad a** while in your own pride, which you stood on the top of the food chain in. He was the king in his home land. Here? He was nothing but someone who shouldn't be there at all. But it wasn't his fault- he had grown concerned. She had said she would come and visit the cubs, yet it had been a long time since her last visit. It felt like she wasn't the kind to be driven off by an angry queen, so what kept her away? As he moved over the lands, he couldn't help but feel uneasy.

Finally, he found the den. The home he had visited a few times in the past, never staying more than a night. Peeking inside, he moved slowly, working his way as his eyes adjusted. "Hello?" He asked, spotting the dirty cub. His heart all but sprang into his throat. This was his cub- the one he had seen leave with her mother. "My child..." he offered softly, "what on earth has happened to you?"

Hinekiri lifted her eyes slowly blinking rapidly trying to plave the voice, she knew she had heard it before, but it wasn't one that was from this pride, the pride had given up on her days ago, not bothering to try and coax the little cub out of the den anymore. They just occasionally left the little cub food at the moouth of the den.

"Momma is gone" Hinekiri whispered. As she spoke she realized who the lion standing before her was. It was her father, he must have travelled all this way just for her, the cubs years perked a little feeling somewhat important, but still not finding it with in her to move.

Dead? Bwana found he didn't know what to make of it. They hadn't been mates, there hadn't been that kind of love between them, but that hadn't been strangers either. She had been a friend of his, and someone he had a deep connection to through these cubs. Now she was gone. It felt like a part of him had gone with her.

But he couldn't let himself show his sorrow- not when there was a sad, lonely little cub to look after.

"My dear, don't worry," he said softly, moving himself closer to her, "your father is here now. I'll take care of you. You won't have to be alone anymore, I promise." He gave her a couple licks, wanting to clean her up a bit as well as give her some love..

Despite herself Hinekiri found herself purring with her father's attention, she enjoyed feeling his love, it had been far to long, she hadn't seen him since her and her mother had left once the other cubs were weaned. It was a great feeling to be cleaned, since her sister and her mother had left, Hinekiri didn't want to clean herself, she was far to sad.

"You... you will?" Hinekiri stuttered, it shouldn't surprise her that her father would take care of her after all he had been caring for all her other siblings. Tears welled up in the cubs eyes, tears she didn't even know she had anymore, the spilled over the lids and all Hinekiri could do was let them. "What's going to happen daddy?" she whispered

Bwana cleaned her a little while, before lying himself down beside her. There was no need to go rushing off just yet, though he did want to get her home before it got dark. The walk was long, one he hadn't iintended on making twice in the same day. But he didn't mind- he wanted to see her home so she might feel the love of her brothers and sisters again. That would help her heavy heart.

He had always wanted brothers or sisters. But, unfortunately, he had been an only child.

"You'll come home with me," he said, "you can ride on my back if you want to. We'll go back to my pride and you can live with your brothers and sisters. There's a happy family waiting for you, I promise. You'll even get to meet Kal- she's my queen and a very nice lioness."

Hinekiri cuddle into her father's side happy to feel the warmth of someone else again. "Ok" she mummbled in response to his plan. She stayed there curled in a little bawl until she began to feel warm inside again.

Rising to her feat a look of determination on her face, "Lets go know, I dont want to be here anymore this place has nothing for me anymore." tears were beginning to well up again for the little one but she shook them away determined not to start crying again. "I will walk for as long as I can, I am a strong girl my momma taught me well."

Bwana watched her, smiling. She did seem to have a lot of her mother in her. Not that he could really say that; he hadn't known her that well. Well enough, though, to know when her daughter was trying to be like her mom. He stayed against the floor, though he wasn't going to argue leaving.

"Don't worry," he hummed, "you don't have to be strong right now. Climb up on my back and I'll walk us there. You can sleep or talk to me, whatever you want to do. You'll want to save your energy, anyway, for when you reunite with you siblings!" He watched her, keeping a fond smile on his face though he was still adjusting to the news. Kal wouldn't be angry with him bringing home another cub.

Not this time.

Hinekiri knew enough not to argue with an adult, and she quickly climbed up on her father's back, finding a nice couchy spot at the base of his mane she snuggled in, "Ok, I am ready" she took one last look around her den before burring her face into her father's mane not wanting to see anything thing more of the pride that had been her mother's, she just wanted to leave.

There was no one to say good bye to, her sister and mother were gone, and her brother had left before the tragidy occured, she was sure that someone would see her and her father' leaving and the messaged would be passed around. Hinekiri was going to a new home.

Bwana took the small cub back the same path he had walked not that long ago, moving slowly but steadily back towards the pride that he so deeply loved. A pride he now had more of a connection to. It took a long time, night creeping over the land, but he eventually managed to get them back home. Well, back for him. The whole thing was new for the cub on his back.

"Are you awake?" he asked softly, as not to wake her if she was already asleep, "this is home."

Hinekiri stirred lightly, she had slept most of the way on her fathers back, falling asleep out of prue exahustion before her father had even made it out of the pride she had thought of as home. "mmmmmm" she mumble stretching lightly on her father's back.

"Home" she whispered blinking as she looked around the dark lands, lands that she would get to know quickly. She was a little overwhelmed not sure where to turn. "Where will I live?" she asked lightly

Bwana chuckled. Did she really have to ask him that? "You will live with me of course," he told her lightly, "until you're big enough to live on your own. I live right at the top of the cliff there, in a huge den just for us! Well, you, me, and the rest of the family. You'll see- it's probably the biggest cave you've ever seen. There a lot of tunnels that go into the cliffside, but you have to have permission to go venturing into them." He explained as he walked, heading up the beaten paths that led up the cliffs to the den at the top.

"Tomorrow I can show you around the place- you can see all the fun animals and what they like to do to amuse themselves. Have you ever seen a play? They pretend they're other animals and act out a situation for us."

"Why do I need permission." the cub was already adjusting to what her new life would be she had to adjust it was jsut the way life was, she didn't want others to get angry with her or not want to be her friend because of her gloomy attitude.

"A play no nope I have never seen a play, I think I would like one though, I like to pretend." the chipper personality was coming out in the little one. Even though it was late at night and she was sti very tired, she wanted to know a great deal more

Bwana smiled. "Because the tunnels are very deep and long. If you're not careful, or you don't know your way around, you could get lost. If you go in there, and we don't know where you've gone, then we might not be able to find you if something like that happens."

The purple lion was feeling a little tired by the time he got to the den at the top of the cliff. Who wouldn't after such a long walk? "There's some food left from earlier," he said after a moment, "you must be hungry. I can go find you something fresher if you would like." He knew the rest of the family had to be asleep, so he kept his voice low.

Noting her father's whipering Hinekiri followed suit "This is fine" she said, it was her favourite anyhow. Eating quickly Hinekiri fowned herself yawning, more and more. Unable to hide her tirededness any longer. She looked up at her father, her eyes showing how greatful she really was. She turned and looked towards the den waiting to be invited in, she knew that it was her home now but it felt odd to just march in.

Bwana watched her, feeling a bit of relief. He was pleased that she was going to eat something- it would have had him worried if she refused her food. He was still somewhat new to the whole parenting thing, after all. An upset cub was going to be hard to understand, but he would do his best. Of course he would: he only wanted to see his cubs happy.

"Let's go inside," he said softly once she had finished, "we can get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a big day." She'll get to play with her siblings again. Hopefully they would welcome her. He knew Borachio, at least, would be happy to have someone new to play with.

And then he would tell the world about it.

Moving slowly, he ventured into the den, keeping his pace slow so she could follow him in and settle down for the night. Maybe in the silence, once she had gone to sleep, he would mourn for the loss of his friend.

Hinekiri followed her father in at his pace, when he settled se settled next to him, unsure of which siblling was which. The young cub felt safe at once. She driffted into sleep quickly. It was a sleep that was filled with dreams of her mother but it was sleep none the less.
