Penthesilea padded forward at a brisk pace, but did make sure that it was not too face for Glacier to keep up. Glancing at the blue pup he had grown quite a bit since she had found him hidden within the bushes half starved. Back then she had thought of him only as a slave, but over time their bond had grown strong and now she considered him to be her son - even if she didn't say so in front of the others. She didn't think Glacier minded that one bit, better to have her admit to those things in privacy only than never at all.
Smiling at him, she glanced forward once more. "We are almost there. Then you can play with Lichen and Bracken while I talk to Chivosi. We are in their pack today so you must respect their rules, don't do anything you wouldn't normally do." Then as an after thought only because she knew Glacier spend a good chunk of his days attending to duties instead of playing she added. "But make sure you have some fun. This is your day off after all."

Glacier was exceedingly pleased that Assalea - as he'd continued to call her in his mind - hadn't ratted him out yet for some of the things they'd done during their confrontation. Hopefully he never would but if sh did after they got back it wouldn't matter quite so much. He hadn't missed the trip and that was the important thing. Trotting along at Pen's heels he beamed at her when she addressed him "Yes ma'am" He told her sincerely "I'll be on my very best behavior" He further promised. "Do they have allot o wolves here?" He asked out of idle curiosity. Chiv was still trying t get used to the new Derecho and then Merrilll had told her some time ago. She wasn't sure how she felt about being a grandmother...but she wasn't completely surprised at Merrill - the purple wolf might be brisk but Chivosi had noted the gleam in her eye as puppies came into the pack - first with her own offspring..and then verse and Corvus' children. She was surprised at her choice of males perhaps..but not by her unconscious desire for pups.
And speaking of puppies the youthful voice of a young one carried through the woods to catch her ears. The youth was not so very far away and changing direction's she quickly came upon the nearly silent Pen..and a male pup. Goodness...not another abandoned pup she hoped..though this one looks far happier then the first two had been. "Penthesilea" She greeted the Alpha in a welcoming tone.

She was well aware of Chivosi's presence before the wolf spoke. And as the other came into view she slowly down, came to a stop now far away and tipped her head in greeting. "Chivosi, it is good to see you again." She smiled and then glanced towards Glacier. "This is Glacier, he is - my son." The words always felt a bit odd to say but even though they shared no blood she did feel that strong motherly bond to Glacier. "I came to check on Lichen and Bracken. I thought it would be good for Glacier to see them as well. How are they adjusting?"

Glacier couldn't help but feel a slight swelling of pride when Pen told the other Alpha that he was her son - she didn't ever say such things in their own pack but when you thought about it a certain way being acknowledged as such to a stranger was far more important. He would need to make sure he behaved himself like he promised and gave a good example of both his pack and Pen's mothering abilities.
"It's a pleasure to meet you" He told Chivosi politely with a slight wag of his tail. He tried to hold in his excitement but the thought of playing with other pups - ones not in his pack had him nearly quivering.
"And you as well young Master Glacier" Chivosi told the excited pup with a slight wink - she was greatly relieved to find out he was not another unwanted male from their pack - true she had offered to help with such pups but with two litters on the way and Corvus brood still so young they were about to be overrun with young wolves.
Turning her attentions back to Pen she motioned with her head towards the more central part of the packlands and fell into step alongside the feathered wolf as they started that way. "They are...doing better" she finally told Pen with a slight sigh "They sleep in their father's den and they've stopped eying most of us like we're either going to steal their food or beat them. Bracken is somewhat over protective and Lichen rarely speaks...perhaps having another pup about for a while will loosen them up some" She stated with a look to Glacier who didn't seem to be impeded at all by his time in the northern pack. "And they will need to get used to other pups as we're expecting two litters in the pack - this will be a good trial run for them both" She finished as they entered the central den site.

Terreis had a bad night of sleep, especially after Derecho told her the news of the other litter to come in to YMCA. It wasn't the litter or who was the mother that bothered Terreis so much, but the knowledge of who their father was. At first she had been determined to make the long hike up to Antianeira last night to inform Penthesilea immediately, but as it had been quite late when Derecho had told her she reluctantly waited until morning. She knew Derecho would try to stop her, say that she shouldn't travel that far considering her condition but she couldn't just sit idle on the situation.
Though luck seemed to be on her side today, as she lazed about in the den that morning she heard voices slowly drift in. Most were pack members getting ready to attend to whatever their duties were for the day. But then a very familiar voice reached her ears and she perked up. "It's Penthesilea." And she quickly - as quickly as one so heavy with puppies could - got to her feet. Derecho couldn't argue with her walked around the dens, so she pushed past him and pulled herself out of the dens.
It didn't take long for her to find the Queen as she was being led by Chivosi, most likely here to check on Thealia's pups no doubt. She spotted a small blue male pup at Penthesilea feet but didn't care to give him two thoughts right now. Padding forward, her round body made it's way somewhat slowly over to where the two Alpha's were. Inclining her head she stood silently not wanting to interrupt their conversation. When Penthesilea was ready she would allow Terreis to speak.Walking along beside Chiv she nodded slowly. "I'm sure it will take time for them to adjust. But I am glad to hear they are doing better." It was also good to hear that they were spending time with their father. She had been worried when she had first dropped the pups off that he would want nothing to do with them. "And the father, Corvus, how is he adjusting to parenthood?"
As they came to the central dens Penthesilea couldn't help but take stock of how many there were. The pack seemed to be a good size, perhaps a bit bigger than Antianeira. Ears perked up at Chivosi's next words. Two litters? My that would swell the numbers a bit. "Well yes, it does sound like they will need to get used to pups being around." No sooner did she finish this sentence than an all too familiar splotchy pelted female make her appearance. "Terreis." She greeted the female and noticed the extra bulk on her. So she was to have pups, that was a bit unexpected. But the Queen smiled anyways. "You are to have puppies, how wonderful. Come sister, let us see you."

Derecho had been relieved after winning the argument about her rushing up North the night before. Like telling the other Alpha now would change anything he had told her and though she had reluctantly agreed - Derecho had spent a fretful night trying to figure out how he would stop her come morning. Thankfully it looked like that wory was going to be taken off his shoulder because who came calling the next morning but the very beast she had been so anxious to see - thank the moon. Letting out a slight 'oof' as she pushed past him Derecho turned about and ducked out after her. When he drew close and noticed Terreis behaving so well...politely something in the back of his mind got just a touch irritated and a small part of him wanted to tell her to cut it out and stop putting this northern wolf on a pedestal...but recalling his desire to be a pack ambassador someday he managed to remove most of the irritation from his gruff voice when he spoke. "Mother" He greeted her before eying Penthesilea for a few moments. Polite..he was supposed to be polite he had to remind himself "And you must be Penthesilea, Terreis has been wishing to speak with you....I do hope that not another homeless pup" He remarked as the sight of Glacier caught his eye. So far Glacier had seen only other females in this pack so when the relatively large male came up - and didn't whine or grovel or otherwise seek approval Glacier was a bit taken aback. He was even more so astonished when the beast choose to address everyone present like an equal - why he even carried himself like some of the higher ranking females did back home.
He was probably going to get beat up. Glacier didn't want anything to do with a surly male who was going to get put into his proper place by the girls. He;d learned pretty quickly to stay away from such squabbles because sometimes you got hit in the crossfire. Trying not to draw attention to himself or his intentions he skirted about Pen and sat down a few steps away from the group."He is not" Chivosi told Derecho with a slight warning in her tone, though one could expect nothing less from her independant son "Glacier is Penthesilea's ward" She told him before looking to Pen "Derecho...my son" She introduced him to her and then smiled at Terreis, no doubt the patchy wolf would have a few things to say to him herself but for the moment Chiv turned her focus back to the reason Penthesilea had come calling "Corvus is young - but he is trying and there are many wolves here he can seek help and advice from we are all trying to be supportive...and hope he has learned a bit of a lesson from all of this"

Terreis couldn't help but let a smile cross her maw as Penthesilea acknowledged her condition. Though her slight happiness was momentarily interrupted by Derecho being...well Derecho. He hoped that for everyone's sake he could be somewhat civil during this meeting. "My Queen, it is so good to see you again." She said now ignoring Derecho. He knew full well that she was loyal to both packs so why shouldn't she show her respect to Penthesilea. Padding forward she bumped her head gently into Penthesilea in a greeting and then laid down in front of her, laying on her side. It was after all tradition for the Queen to inspect all expecting mothers in Antianeira, so Terreis couldn't see why they couldn't do that here.
She laid still and quiet though her eyes moved to Derecho and Chivosi for a moment. They could think what they wanted over this but it was a pack tradition. Turning her attention back to Penthesilea as the queen laid her head down on Terreis' stomach she spoke once more - if a bit hesitantly. "My Queen, there is something I wish to tell you." She paused for a moment really not sure how to tell the Queen such news, best to just spit it out she told herself. "Tierehl is here, and he is the father of the other litter that is to come." Out of slight fear of Penthesilea's reaction the splotchy wolf flinched ever so slightly though she knew the Queen would not harm her no matter how angry she was at this news.Penthesilea glanced upon Derecho as he came noisily into view. She knew this to be the father of Terreis' pups from what the wolf had told her of this pack during her last visit to Antianeira. Before Chivosi could even introduce him she spoke his name. "Derecho, I hope you are taking good care of my sister." She said peacefully, then at his comment over Glacier her eyes narrowed and her tone changed to something with a bit of anger behind it. "My son is not a homeless pup!" She didn't press the situation further as now Terreis was the focus of her attention.
Returning the gentle head bump Penthesilea waited for the other to lay down before lowering herself to the ground as well. It seemed for a moment that she had completely forgotten about all others around her. Her entire focus was on Terreis and her unborn pups. Gently laying her lead down on the swollen belly so that her cheek and ear were pressed up against it. Feeling the pups move within the Queen smiled widely. "They are strong." She said proudly as she looked upon Terreis and then up to Derecho and Chivosi. "It will not be long before they arrive."
Lifting herself back to her paws she went to speak once more only those words from Terreis stopped her. Tierehl was here and had fathered pups? She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. Her face was a mix of anger, confusion and concern. It wasn't often that Penthesilea faltered with words or actions but the mention of Tierehl had done just that. Finally with a shake of her head she managed to clear her thoughts, lowering her head she gave Terreis a nudge to help her to her feet before looking at Derecho. "Bring him to me!" She ordered, and it was not the type of order he should ignore. Turning her attention to Glacier she spoke again. "Best go with Chivosi and see the pups. I don't want anything to happen to you."
Her eyes moved to Terreis. "Return to your den now, your pups are your main concern now." And finally she looked to Chivosi. "Please keep Glacier safe. And I'd like to apologize in advance for what is about to take place." And with a final after thought she looked to Derecho once more. "And do not tell him who wishes to see him." Tierehl was busy lazing about his den. He didn't know exactly why he had stuck around this long, after all the thing between him and Merrill had been strictly for pleasure, the fact that pups resulted from it wasn't his problem. But he had to admit that seeing that purple female birth his pups was as good of a reason as any to stay around. Sure he had promised her that he would stay until they were all grown up but he had no intention of actually doing this. And from the last time he saw the purple Beta he knew it wouldn't be too long before the pups did arrive. She was pretty good looking to begin with but seeing that extra bulk on her and knowing he was the cause of it made a smile stick on his maw most of the time.

Derecho found himself silently fuming over his normally strong and self assured mate being so... subservient to another. He doubted she would be so placid to his mother..no that Chivosi ever asked for such things. He did however have the good sense to hold his tongue and ignore the others tone when she snapped at him about the blue pup - last time she'd shown up with pups it had been to dump them off so how was he t think anything different this time around? It was good to know not all of the other packs females were heartless wenches like the green pups mother though.
He shifted uneasily as Terreis lay down with the feathered wolf standing over her, hackles raising silently as his typical overprotective nature shone through - if she even pretended to harm a hair on Terrie and his soon coming pups he'd well..he'd show her something that was for sure. Was she supposed to be laying her head on his mates stomach like that? What if she pressed to hard and injured the pups? His ears flicked back slightly..but his worries were seemingly for nothing. "Of course their strong, Terreis receives only the best of care" He stated as though daring the other to contradict this statement.
He might have said more but Terreis belayed him with news of that wretched lazy beast Tier and the Queens reaction to this was more then interesting enough to catch his attention. Drawing himself up to throw a fit when she dared order him about like..well like a slave, lips pulled back slightly "I am not one to be ordered about" He told her in a far to calm voice "But I shall do as you request for the wretched creature has hurt the heart of one important to me" He told her before trotting off to search for Tier.
Oh yes..he did so hate to be ordered about - but he had to admit he would enjoy this particular task. Like always the pale colored wolf was lazing about in the den he had been given and Derecho glared at him as he arrived "You!" He snapped at the gamma "bring your foul hide with me" He ordered.
Chivosi had already been made aware of just who this Tier wolf was and his relation to the queen compliments of Terreis the night before. Derecho had made her promise Terries to keep and eye on the wolf until she could speak with his sister.
And as much as she realized the family squabble was inevitable Chivosi was not predisposed to protect the patchy wolf from his sister ire. He'd wounded Merrill. However...she also had to uphold the packs ideals. "Very well...as this is a family issue I will turn a blind eye, however please remember this is a sanctuary and whatever transgressions the wolf has committed he has agreed to remain until the pups are adults..." Her tone made is clear she didn't really believe this herself "...So...don't kill him at the very least" She finished before glancing at Glacier. "Come along young fellow - I'm sure you anxious for some fun yes?" nudging him lightly in the right direction she trotted off with the blue pup bouncing along beside her. Clearly he wasn't worried about Pn disciplining her brother - but then he'd probably seen such things before.

The Queens reaction had be somewhat expected, though what Penthesilea planned to do about it she was not certain. With help of the Queen she stood. She gave her another bump of her head this time it was more of a supportive one than anything before turning and padding off. Terreis would return to her den as told, but not only because the Queen had told her to, but because she knew it was best to be far away when Tierehl arrived. She did hope that Derecho wouldn't take too much offense to Penthesilea ordering him to go get Tierehl but what did he expect her to do given the circumstances - ask nicely?
With a final glance back to where the Queen was Terreis made her way into the den that her and Derecho shared. As much as she would like to rest she couldn't help but stay alert, wanting to at least overhear what was said. And honestly she was a bit worried that Tierehl would seek some revenge on her for telling Penthesilea about his transgressions.
Tierehl slowly lifted his head as Derecho approached. Ears flicked as he barked his order. Foul hide? Well wasn't the little Alpha's son acting all high and mighty today. Of course he did wonder for a moment if the time had come, so not wanting to miss out on Merrill struggle of birthing his pups he raised himself to his feet.
Following the Beta towards the other dens Tierehl couldn't help but keep that smile on his maw. The wolves here really did hate him and yet they let him stay, fed him and he didn't lift a paw to help them. Of course his smile faded when his eyes fell upon Penthesilea, but he looked over at Derecho instead. "Couldn't bring yourself to beat me yourself so you have to get some female to do it?" Then he smiled once more an padded towards Penthesilea. "Well if it isn't my little sister all grown up. Come to see my pups come into this world?" His eyes roamed over her taking in her feathers and other decorations. "And what's this? Has she made herself a Queen. How many innocent wolves did you have to kill to pull that off?"
Penthesilea ignored Derecho's comments about him not one to be ordered around. It didn't matter right now, all that mattered was that Tierehl was brought to her. So when the young Beta left to do just that she was quite relieved. Her eyes also watched Terreis as the female departed making sure she did indeed return to her den as told. She did not want her getting involved in this spat.
Her attention moved to Chivosi as the Alpha spoke. "Empty words, it is what he is known best for." The mere idea of Tierehl sticking around to help raise these pups to adulthood was ridiculous. "But have no fear, he will survive - which is quite unfortunate." There was no point in hiding her anger and resentment towards her half-brother, and after Chivosi left with Glacier the b*****d showed up.
Immediately her lips curled back, growl rumbling in her throat, hackles raised. "Do not flatter yourself brother I am not here to beat you, I am here to ripe the throat from your very body." Eyes ticked to Derecho for a moment. "Stay if you wish, but he is mine." In a way she hoped he would stay, it would be good for one of this pack to witness what happened when a sister of Antianeira was betrayed. With her attention now back of Tierehl she spoke once more. "How dare you insult me like that! And what is worse you have gotten one of their females pregnant!" She took a step forward, muscles tense ready for the fight ahead. "You will not make that same mistake twice Tierehl." Lunging forward she immediately went for his neck. Tierehl was always a weak fighter so this should be quite easy.

Derecho on most other occasions might have responded in a temperamental way to Tierehl's remarks - but he was so incredibly giddy at seeing the no good creature get what was coming to him that all he did was offer him a wolfy grin "At least' He pointed out in a cheery tone "I'm still smiling" a small but pointed jab at the pale wolfs obvious worry at the sight of Penthesilea. Derecho had not at all miss ed that telling fading smile.
Still sporting the cheery look Derecho made himself comfortable in the shade of a nearby tree to watch what he clearly considered to be festivities.

Tierehl knew that he lacked the fighting skills that Penthesilea had, but that was no thanks to his upbringing in that wretched pack. But he was determined to not just let her beat him without a good fight. Especially with that smug Beta watching. If Derecho saw Penthesilea beat him in a fight then he would never hear the end of it. At Penthesilea's comment Tierehl smiled. "You would rob my pups of their father?"
As predicted Penthesilea was the first to make a move. Damn she was fast he thought as he struggled to get out of the way of her attack. But honestly Tierehl was lazy and had been for many years so his reaction time was less than perfect. He did manage to get his neck away in time, but not completely as he felt some fur rip away. That was too close. Turning his head he in turn snapped at hers but all get got was a mouthful of feathers which he spit out before kicking his front paws at her.
As she lunged at her half-brother she did see out of the corner of her eye than Derecho was indeed sticking around. Good, it would probably make him feel better over the situation to watch Tierehl get put in his place -especially by a female. The taste of fur hit her tongue as she just missed the flesh on Tierehls neck, but it just proved he was still a poor fighter. Not bothering to spit it out she pulled herself away just as reached for her with his teeth. Shreds of feathers fluttered down and instantly Penthesilea snapped. Those feathers were important to her, to the pack and he dared to destroy them.
Then Tierehl kicked his paws out at him, a flaw in her mind. For now that she had moved he would hit nothing. In fact he was actually helping her by making that particular move. With lightening quick reflexes she latched onto his left leg, sinking her teeth in deep. The cry of agony that came from him was quite satisfying, and just to make sure that he wouldn't be able to run off after the fight was done she violently shook her head, ripping deep gashes along his leg. Let's see him walk away from this, she thought before using her weight to knock him over.
Tierehl was beginning to curse under his breath. You think he would have learned to fight after watching the females of his old pack devote their lives to training to fight. But no, Tierehl instead left and devoted his life to finding any female tail that would spend the night with him. It had been going well until this point actually - though as far as he knew he wasn't sure if he actually had any other puppies out there, as this was the first time he had stuck around beyond that one night of fun.
When Penthesilea bit down on his leg he couldn't help but let a small yelp of pain out. Damnit, he just showed weakness, and to add further insult to it she did a fine job of tearing his leg up smartly after wards. Curses he wouldn't be able to go walking off now. As the female pushed on him he had no choice but to roll with the punches. And landing hard on the ground he let out an 'oof' sound as the wind was knocked out of him. He would have tried to get up, even if his leg was quite tore up but Pen was on top of him immediately and he had no where to go. Instead he snapped at her chest and tried to knock her over by kicking out with his back legs.
This fight was already looking to be over as quickly as it started as she stood atop of Tierehl. When he snapped at her chest she didn't move, his attacks were pathetic and weak, his teeth barely grazed her flesh. And as for him kicking out her back legs, then were far too rigid for that. When he let his guard drop for a moment she used her right paw to knock his head back and then promptly clamped her jaws around his throat. Eyes looked over to Derecho who was standing in the shade not too far away. So badly did she wish to make one swift move and snap her brothers neck, but she had promised Chiv that he would not be killed, son instead she just applied some pressure to his throat, choking him for the time being.
Damn! He thought as his kick did nothing. He should have known better to try such a weak move on a well trained warrior like his sister, but his pride had gotten in the way. Of course that momentary lapse in concentration left him open to another attack and within a second Pen had her jaws wrapped around his throat. He had expected her to do something more but instead she seemed to turn her attention to that blasted Beta. "Come on, just kill me and get it over with." He sputtered out, and as if taking his advice she clamped down harder. Eyes widened as he felt his lungs screaming for air that just wasn't getting in now. Desperation kicked in and he began to paw at her trying to make her release his grip. Blackness began to creep into the sides of his vision. "S-stop!" He managed to blurt out with his quickly fading breath.
Hearing him beg for his life brought about a bit of satisfaction to her. Slowly, very slowly she released her grip on his neck but stayed standing over top of him, face in his. He wasn't getting away so easily. "I made a promise not to kill you, so count yourself lucky brother." A growl rumbled in her throat once more. "You will stay and see to your pups! Do you understand that?" And just to make her point clearly she bite down on his neck again before releasing it once more.

Derecho was becoming increasingly pleased that he had chosen to stick around as the fight progressed - he didn't normally think of himself as a bloodthirsty wolf - but the useless creatures yelps and cries certainly made something rise in him. The brute was getting what he deserved as far as Derecho was concerned and if the blood dripping from that leg was any indication he wouldn't be running off anytime soon on Merrill - though he privately thought she'd be better off without him.
If she wanted him to stay - well he would stay. End of discussion and Derecho would see it so as best as he could, when Penthesilea clamped down on the other's throat Derecho rose to his feet - and while it might seem like a protective motion anything could be farther from the truth - if anything Derecho wished it were he choking the life out of Tierehl.

Females! He thought silently for surely saying that out loud would get him killed. Though the pain in the leg and neck was certainly something he wished to not feel right now so death wasn't a half bad idea. Of course if he did die he wouldn't be able to spend the rest of his life looking for females who would far for his charms and so willingly give themselves to him. When Penthesilea barked her order at him he huffed. "Hey I already told her I was gonna stay." Just because it had been a lie then and a lie now didn't mean that he couldn't say it again -if only to get her to leave him alone.
"You are full of empty promises Tierehl." She snarled. It took a long time before she moved off of him, giving her fur a shake, a few more bits of feather fell to the ground. Standing not far from him she kept her gaze steady, without looked away from her wretched brother she spoke to Derecho. "You have my permission to kill him should he try to leave before the pups are adults." And while she didn't think any wolf in this pack would do such a thing even after such a horrendous act it couldn't hurt to give them the thought.
Finally she tore her gaze away from him. Though forever in her memory would be the vision of Tierehl bleeding form his neck and leg. He would be lucky if he could walk back to his den without help and that help better not come from any of these pack wolves. Tierehl had always been useless and he continued to be so now. Looking at Derecho, she finally spit out a chunk of fur that had been in her mouth.

Derecho snorted slightly when she finally turned to look at him "I don't need your permission for such a thing" He told her matter of factly - she might be Terreis' queen but she certainly wasn't his and if she thought her display of fighting prowess would make him reconsider that she was quite wrong.
He wondered briefly if she found it surprising that Terreis had chosen him for a mate - surely she had expected her to choose a weaker, meeker male to father her pups. And then Derecho realized what had truly been bothering him about this visiting Alpha, about her inspecting Terreis as she had done, about the interest she had been showing his mate. Part of him was deathly afraid that this feathered Alpha would try to wheedle whatever daughters might come from his union away for her own pack. And Terreis..he feared she was so hung up on her - that she might just let it happen.
"Oh be quiet!" He snapped at Tierhl whose pitiful whining on the ground was starting to irritate him - or at least that was a decent enough cover for the angry fear that gnawed at his belly when he looked at the Queen. Not fear for himself...but for the future of his pups.

With the fight over and Tierehls empty promise given again Penthesilea moved closer to Derecho. The young wolf had been a bit distant towards her since she arrived and really he had no reason to in her mind. The whines of Tierehl faded from her hearing though she knew he still laid there in pain. It was done and she wasn't about to go crawling over there licking his wounds. "I know you don't need my permission." She told the young Beta with a nod. "Now, let us walk for a bit, I do wish to speak to you."
Turning she began to lead them away from the dens. One they were far enough away that she was certain no others could hear them she spoke once more. "I know you do not trust me, I can see that quite clearly. You in fact do not trust anyone from my pack outside of Terreis." Coming to a stop she lowered herself on her haunches, tail wrapping around her paws. "It was unfortunately that your first exposure to my pack was Thealia's pups. It was not at all what I wished for your pack to see during our first meeting. Thealia is an extreme case in our pack and I am not pleased with the way she had treated Lichen and Bracken." Letting out a sigh she decided to change the subject, she hadn't brought him out here to talk about Thealia. "I want only the best for my sisters, and Terreis is no exception to that."
