Slowly opening his eyes, Teleza blinked to see the fading light of the moon, the yellow of the sun gently peeking over the horizon. The stars still flickered above, but he knew that day wasn't far from arriving. He hadn't planned on being up at this time; usually, he'd slink back into the den during the day to watch his cubs play near the entrance. The nannies, as well, were overly sympathetic to the single father, and often watched his two daughters for him when he went out to hunt or blow off some steam.

This morning, he knew, he needed to hunt. The kill from a few days ago had run dry with his growing girls, and he quite enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. His massive size usually made hunting easy once he had stalked his prey, but feeling his paws sink into something soft and maluable.

Gently lifting his small cubs, he slowly shuffled over to the nanny's den, careful not to wake them. Giving them a soft nuzzle, he crept out, trotting through the tall grass until something came his way. His ears flicked around, black eyes glowing in the dark.

The sun had just begun to shine its first ray of lights. Aras rolled onto her back and stretched out her paws to the sky, as far as they would go. Normally she would sleep in for much longer, and then just hunt during mid day. Though today was much different than usual, for Aras had a lot on her mind. Stuff that she knew had to vanish like the moon and stars. The only thing that could clear her head was a fresh morning hunt. Since what better way to start the morning then to eat, and be up before all the other lions in the land began to hunt.

So she slowly began to roll back over onto her feet and stood to take in the fresh air. As she took in the air she looked towards the sky. Today the sky looked like it had been painted a wonderful array of colors in the dark. Today was looking to be a beautiful day, and she could feel that things might just go right today.

With that hope she head off towards the north, wondering just what adventure might lie ahead of her today. All her thoughts were finally clear and a smile was showing on her face. That was just before she heard a noise, her ears perked up and her hunting senses kicked in. She ducked down into the grass unsure of what the noise was. Though it seemed to be heading in her direction…

His ears barely twitched, and he kept lumbering forward, making surprisingly little noise for his size. It didn't mean he was completely silent, though, as that would be next to impossible for the behemoth. He kept his tail barely over the tips of the grass, to avoid extra sound that the lump of flesh would inevitably make.

His chest rose with a deep breathe, and Teleza quickly became aware of another presence. This 'sixth sense' had developed largely in his mercenary days, a time that seemed so far away now. In the end, he's glad for the abilities those times left him with, giving him an extra sense of security now that he has his daughters.

He stopped, his breathing becoming slow and silent, ears swiveling around and tail frozen above the grass. His muscles tensed, not knowing if a chase for food would ensue or if was to expect an attack by another. Not that he would lose, but it could take away needed energy to hunt, and he wouldn't allow for anyone to take away from his cubs. His dark eyes seemed dazed as he focused on the sounds, trying to hone in on his surrounding follower.

Aras was deep in the grass, when she realized that all the noises she had heard had gone silent. "Maybe it was just my imagination," she whispered to herself as a smile cracked on her face.

As she began to think about it, maybe the hunger she felt had just gotten the best of her. It was around breakfast time and still she had not found anything to hunt around her. So she slowly rose from her hunting stance in the grass and scratched her paws on the earthy ground. It didn't feel like anything had come this way recently, but as she smiled she thought maybe just possibly there was some prey up ahead.

As she was glancing around, she was not truely paying attention to her surroundings. An also not realizing that if something was there, her cover was blown.

Once his eyes adjusted a bit more, it wasn't hard for Teleza to spot the now-visible lioness. He thought that for sure he'd be seen first, due to his size, but apparently she hadn't seen him yet.

She didn't look very intimidating at all. Teleza liked that. Intimidating females seemed to just be fooling themselves, and they'd never end up happy. Or at least that's what he thought.

"You- what are you doing out here?" In his normally deep voice, he sounded a bit aggravated. He wasn't, though, just curious. His cubs weren't nearby, so there wasn't anything he had to worry about, but if someone was trying to find someone, then he'd definitely help.

As soon as Aras heard the voice she jumped and turned in its direction. "Uh ... I thought I heard a noise so I came to check it out." she admitted a bit nervously, as she looked around her for who had spoken.

It didn't take her long to notice the large lion colored in black in white. He was definitely much bigger than her. "He doesn't look to bad," she thought to herself silently. Which slightly eased her nervous feeling. Then again she never thought anyone looked to be that bad of a person. For in her eyes everyone just had their own way of acting.

Turning towards the lion's direction she continued, "I'm sorry if I startled you; I just started out on my morning hunt, and next thing I know I'm off on an adventure to see what a sound is." She finished with a laugh, making her sound slightly childish. Though her laugher was shortly interupted just as her stomach began to growl.

"Oh no, I wasn't startled." Teleza's voice sounded flat, without a hint of emotion. There was something about the night that took everything about him away, leaving something hollow- something vengeful. It gave him too much time to think, mainly about the past, and it made him so angry some times. And with the sun seeping over the horizon, he knew that he had to tuck away that part of him.

"An adventure? Sounds like fun." Jostling his mane in a chuckle, Teleza found her unafraid nature quite charming. It was something he wasn't used to, at least. The only other lioness that wasn't afraid of him was.....Kana.

Glancing to the side, Teleza sluffed off the memories of the past. He was, after all, a single lion standing in front of a cute lioness, so he'd force himself to loosen up a bit.

"Are you hungry?" Perking his ears, it was kind of amusing to hear someone else's stomach growl. His tended to, more often than not, mainly because of his size and his two girls at home.

"Oh well I'm glad you weren't," Aras said with a smile half appearing on her face. In her mind she couldn't help but think how this was a first. Normally she either scared or startled everyone she ran into. Since she never ment to, but she never seemed to approach anyone the right way. Though this time maybe she had, and the thought of that made her smile a bit more.

Aras shook her head out of her thoughts, and watched as the other lion Jostled his mane. "Yes, and it is! Even if I don't really know what I'll find at the end of it, everyone needs a little adventure every now and then." A noise definitely was much to go off of that much she knew, but noneless she had to find out what it was. This adventure was one she hoped to be something to remember.

An then all her excitement was turned down, as her stomach growled once more a bit louder. "I guess I am," she said with a little embarassment. Since who had ever heard of a single lion hungry before.

"Perhaps." Glancing up towards the sky with his dark eyes, Teleza thought that he just needed some time to relax, rather than an adventure. There just wasn't time for that, not with his two girls still being young. He would never want to leave them just so he could go out and have an adventure.

"If you're hungry, then maybe you should eat." Chuckling a little, he turned to the side, smelling the air for a moment. "Here, come with me- I'll get you something that'll last you." He wasn't trying to boast or anything, but Teleza liked to hunt big game, as it gave a challenge to his large fame. And he also didn't want to see a girl go hungry- that just seemed mean.

As she heard the mention of eating, she thought maybe an adventure could wait. Or at least thats what her stomach was saying as it growled once more. After all adventures are something you can always go on later, and who knew maybe next time she could go with lots of others on one. "Since what fun is it going on an adventure alone anyways?" she thought quietly to herself.

"Maybe I should," she said with a slight chuckle. Since honestly eating did sound like a really good idea right about now. It even sounded better than an adventure. "Um .. alright. Thank you," she said with a smile as she moved a bit closer towards the other lion. She was shocked. This was definitely something she hadn't expected, for she wasn't used to getting help ... ever. "Oh and my names Aras by the way," she mentioned with a smile, as she waited to follow him.

Hearing her stomach once more, Teleza couldn't help bug crack a smile. She was kind of...funny, in an odd way. "Well then, follow me." Trying to keep a more approachable face, he stared at her for a moment, with one front paw gently lifted from the ground.

"And my name is Teleza." Shaking his mane back and forth for a moment, he was careful not to accidentally whack her in the face with his long fur. "It's nice to meet you, Aras." Dipping his head briefly, he stopped to get one last look at her before turning. She looked like she could hunt, so wasn't too worried. The only thought that crossed his mind was that he had to make sure to be back before dawn, so his girls wouldn't wake without him there.

Sniffing the air, he had already vaguely located a herd nearby. He took a few steps forward, listening for her footsteps behind him. She seemed nice, and this could be the beginning of a friendship that Teleza knew he needed.

Seeing him crack a smile made her feel a lot easier around him. He seemed like a really nice lion, and he definitely was nicer than some other she'd met before. Though he was also different, but how she couldn't figure out. "Okay," she said with a nod and slight smile on her face as she waited for him to move.

"Well its nice to meet you Teleza," she said kindly as she lifted her front paw from the ground to shake his and then setting hers back to the ground. As he suddenly shook his mane she couldn't help, but to stare and look a little dumbstruck. Her mind turned to mush for what seemed like just a brief moment. "what on earth was that for..." she thought quietly to herself, thinking of what weird strange occurrence had just happened. "It was probably just because I'm so hungry..." She thought as she quickly shook her head and regained her senses.

After regaining her head she looked towards Teleza. He looked to be stiffing the air. She could tell he had located something be it a herd or just one creature. As he took a few steps, she took a few steps of her own to keep up with his pace. As she followed behind him she realized that maybe this could end up being a great adventure for her, even if it was just a simple hunt she wasn't alone for once.

Keeping his steps slow so that she could follow easily, Teleza re-focused on the task at hand. He had a general idea of where the herd he was looking for would be, and that's all he really had in mind. Not for himself, of course, as he really didn't need any food at the moment. But this female, Aras....well, he wanted to make sure she was looked after, at least for now.
