Oh boy Shiny was not going to like this. Gavin had decided that it was time for an adventure and Ask had gotten dragged along. Not that he didn't want to go, Gavin was hilarious and so much fun to be around that Ask wasn't precisely blameless in the matter. He hadn't exactly said no to leaving Aunt Sun's house.
He really had no room to act innocent especially since he'd been the one who suggested the playground when Gavin suggested exploring. So really the phrase "dragged along" was really rather misleading. Ask was totally a partner in crime this time around. And so far he'd thoroughly enjoyed himself.
Gavin really had a way with locks, even the one on the back gate that was supposedly child proof. So running out the back gate giggling in glee and reveling in their freedom was rather easier then Ask thought it would be. Shiny still wouldn't like it. Oh well, it's not like anything could happen that he and Gavin couldn't handle. This adventure would totally be worth any scolding.

Gavin didn't have any qualms about going out for another adventure. After his last at the construction site, he'd just gotten a lecture about how construction sites were dangerous and that someone could try to snatch him. Well this time he was going to a playground, and he just knew no one would be able to snatch up him or Ask.
Gavin had been ever so delighted that Ask was willing to come along with him. Plus Ask even had an idea for a place to go, the local playground. Gavin knew that Willow had wandered off there once, and had been told not to do it again, but Sun hadn't said anything about him not going to the playground.
Practically running, Gavin made his way to the playground, occasionally glancing behind him to see if Ask was still following. He paused on the edge of the playground and looked around. He didn't quite know where he wanted to go first.

Ask of course kept up with Gavin as he ran to the playground. In fact he ran right past him to go start the stairs to the slide. Once up at the top of the slide he paused to peer around at the playground and enjoy the pleasant breeze. Then he plopped on his butt and slid down the slide grinning. "Gavin! Come on and slide!"

Meanwhile, another child was playing in the playground. This girl, however, was there because her mother had brought her there. Her parental unit was sitting on a bench off to the side of the collection of slides, monkey bars, and swings; she had a paperback novel in her lap, one thumb marking her place as she chatted with a smile to a woman cradling a baby who had sat down next to her.
While her mother talked, Sorrel climbed up the playground in the direction of the slide. She hadn't been there long, so the thrill of the simple activities hadn't started to bore her yet - but if she didn't find someone to start playing with, they likely would soon. When her eyes fell upon Ask just as he slid down the slide, then to Gavin when Ask called his name, a smile spread across her lips. Maybe she would be able to play with them? They weren't her age, sure, but Sorrel had never had trouble getting along with kids younger than her.
But first, she really wanted to go down that slide.
"Look out, I'm coming down!" she called in warning to Ask, then sat and slid down the plastic surface with an excited giggle.

Upon being invited to come slide, Gavin stopped hesitating at the edge of the playground and made his way over. He all but raced up to the top of the slide and spotted a girl go down it as he did. "Hi there!" He called down after her as he sat at the top of the slide, preparing to go down himself.
Gavin noticed the girl was very colorful, and he enjoyed that. But more importantly he noticed that she had wings. That meant she was like him and Ask. "Hey! You're like us!" he observed happily out loud just before shooting off down the slide himself. As he reached the bottom he landed on his feet and announced himself to the girl. "I'm Gavin. What's your name?" He gave her a grin.

Ask jumped out of the way of the sliding child. He was amazed at how colorful she was and she had wings! He wanted wings, he couldn't wait to get them. He moved further aside so that the girl could get out of the way of a sliding Gavin, who always seemed to be moving that much faster due to his boundless energy.
He debated between listening for her name or running back up the stairs to slide again. He went with the slide option. They'd get around to introductions if Gavin thought it was important.

Sorrel hopped off of the bottom of the slide and, upon hearing the other boy call down at them from the top, moved out of the way so that there wouldn't be a collision. She spun around to face him with a grin. "I'm Sorrel," she chirped cheerfully, offering Gavin her hand, imitating what her mother did when she met new people. "What's your name?" All her attention focused on the boy in front of her, she didn't even notice as Ask climbed back up to go down the slide again. She did, however, finally notice that Gavin was purple. That meant he must be special like she was; she felt an instant sort of kinship towards the other child.

Taking Sorrel's hand in his, Gavin gave it a shake. He thought about taking it and kissing it like he'd seen men do in movies or read about in books, but he wasn't sure if Sorrel would like that or not. Besides, he thought he was maybe a little young to do something like that...maybe when he sprouted his wings.... "Like I said, I'm Gavin. The one coming down the slide is Ask. Nice to meet you Sorrel." He gave her a wide charming grin. "It's good to run into other kids like us around. Your wings are really pretty."

Ask flew down the slide happily. When he landed he sat there until Sorrel and Gavin noticed him. "Hi Sorrel." Luckily he'd heard her name on the way down the slide. "I want wings too."
