Prancing into the clearing, a huge grin was on Chitsa's face as she gazed around the small clearing. Little flowers were bursting from their buds and it wasn't unusual that the mare was in a hyper mood. It had been quiet for the last few days at the teepee, and Sisika had been out on a trip for awhile. She wondered if there was any soquili around that she could speak to or maybe some old faces.

Midnight Shadow wandered around the clearing, a little bored and scared of the others around her. She was new at the village and she had shied away from the other Soquili. Her nares flared as she picked up the scent of an unknown Soquili. She spun her head around to see another mare heading into the clearing. She pawed at the ground and hoped that Chitsa didn't spot her.

Turning her head slightly, she too picked up an unfamiliar scent, but it was definitely of soquili origin. The flutter tilted her head and gazed at Midnight quietly. A smile appeared on her face and she slowly made her way towards the other mare. "Hello there."

Midnight Shadow took a couple steps backward as she saw the other mare heading towards her. Part of her wanted to run away, yet the other part wanted her to stay and get to know the other mare. She arched her neck slightly and pawed lightly at the ground. "Hello," she said shyly.

The mare's large butterfly like wings fluttered as she moved closer to the mare. "Who might you be?" Chitsa noticed that she seemed a tad bit shy, so she wasn't as enthusiastic as she might usually be when meeting other soquili. But she seemed nice anyway. The mare kept a pleasant smile on her face hoping she wasn't scaring the other mare or anything. That was the last thing she wanted to do.

Midnight Shadow swished her golden tail slightly and pinned her ears back slightly. "I'm Midnight Shadow," she said in a quiet voice. She observed the flutter Soquili carefully and smiled back at the other mare. She took a timid step forward and stopped pawing at the ground.

"Quite a pleasure to meet you." Chitsa smiled once again wondering what she could possibly start a conversation on. It didn't seem like this mare really wanted to talk to her... but she would try anyway. "So how are you doing on this fine night?" Chitsa's cerulean blue tail flickered back and forth slowly, as it shimmered in the moonlight.

Midnight Shadow stared at the other mare's wings and she canted her head to one side. She was interested in how the other mare got her wings. She reached her muzzle out towards the wings and sniffed them delicately. "They are pretty," she said in a shy voice. She heard Chitsa's question and she shrugged slightly. "Alright, I guess."

Unfortunately for Chitsa, she was quite ticklish and once Midnight starting sniffing her wings, she burst into giggles. She attempts to calm herself before answering, "Oh these wing things? Thank you Midnight!" The mare grinned wildly, forgetting about staying calm for Midnight's sake. "But that's good that you're doing alright! It's much better than being bad or feeling sad." She paused, "Oh dear. That rhymes." Chitsa couldn't help but giggle slightly once again.

Midnight Shadow nodded her head and sighed. �Midnight?� She canted her head at her nickname. She smiled a little wider as she arched her neck and pawed at the ground lightly. "So, what about you? Do you have a name, too?"

"Yeees! I dub thee Midnight!" Chitsa giggled once again, she couldn't suppress her true nature for very long it seemed. "Yes! I have a name. And it's Chitsa!" The mare nodded rapidly as she spoke, she was just so silly sometimes. Sisika loved to chide her about her hyperactivity and whatnot.

Midnight nickered under her breath when Chitsa said her name. 'I gotta remember that,' she thought to herself. She stomped a hoof lightly on the ground and began to sniff at the other mare's wings again. They had a light scent to them that made her happier than she normally was. She backed up a few steps and glanced at the moon. "Beautiful moon, huh?"

Another burst of giggles arrived and Chitsa quickly recomposed herself. "Yees. The nighttime is always so pretty. Everything is covered with her illuminesent beauty and it's just so.... peaceful." Probably because everything was asleep... The mare chuckled to herself and shrugged.

Midnight Shadow nodded slightly and kept her gaze at the moon. "Why does the moon shine, though? I am curious as to how it stays lit at night." She flicked her tail again and tossed her golden mane slightly. The golden curls never went flat. They always stayed full and curly. She pawed at the ground for a few seconds before looking down at Chitsa.

Chitsa tilted her head and gazed up at the moon curiously. Hm that was an odd question. "How very odd. I bet you the spirits are keeping her lighted. It's gotta be the spirits shining down on us..." Chitsa had always been very into the spirits and deeply believed in the spirits. The mare nodded definitely.

Midnight canted her head to one side and stared at Chitsa curiously. "Spirits?" She had never heard of that before. She sighed and pawed at the ground nervously. She glanced at the sky and nickered at the moon. "Maybe you are right. Maybe it is the spirits keeping the moon lit up at night."

"Yes the spirits. They keep everything in balance!" Chitsa nodded vigorously as she gazed up at the moon longingly once again. It really was almost magical though... "I have a funny feeling that they do... Same with the sun..." Chitsa gazed into the forest and then she looked at Midnight. "Oh dear. I think I hear Sisika coming home. I really must be going now. It was so nice meeting you! I hope we get to meet again!" Chitsa smiled and ran off into the forest disappearing into the darkness.
