Bio: On a dark night, an raging drunk of a father came home to argue with his wife. He started cursing and swearing about his crappy day. His wife tried to comfort him by quoting scriptures and saying that god would pull him out of this rut. He didn't wanna hear that. So he started to beat her mercilessly. She cried his name out begging for him to stop. But he wouldn't relent. A child no more than 6 years old was in the living room was within ear shot of this violent situation. He did all he could to try to stop this raging behemoth that he called dad. He jumped on his back and beat on it with all his might. But to no avail. He leaped off his father's back and raced to the kitchen grabbing any utensil he could find. He pulled out a fork and a knife. His mother yelled out to him "Don't do it Derrick, Call the cops." He did anyway ignoring his mother, he jumped on the back of his father once more and stabbed him with the fork and the knife. His father stopped beating his mom and turned his attention to Derrick. "How dare you!? You ungrateful little brat!" his father being a big man charged at Derrick like a rhino. Derrick couldn't find it in himself to move. He was paralyzed. He took one brief look at his mother's face before his father crushed him under his massive weight. She had tears on streaking down her cheeks. They weren't because she was beaten or the fact that her husband hit her. He knew this expression very well. It was fear. She was terrified that her husband would kill her adoptive son. He then gazed back at his father and was pummeled. He crawled out of his fathers grasp and stood firm even though his leg was broke, he jumped as high as he could and landed one punch to his father's jaw. Unbelievably He actually knocked him off balance and caused him to stumble backwards and fall onto the floor. Before his father could get up to attack again, police were breaking down the door and yelling "Don't move don't move!" luckily their neighbor and friend was watching the whole thing from her balcony in the apartment adjacent to theirs. She called the cops as soon as she heard her friend scream her husband's name. This was only the beginning. He went to his mother who was still terrified. He was trembling. Derrick looked down at his leg, his tibia was sticking out of his skin. He pushed it and felt a sure of pain rush through his leg. He screamed. The medics came to inspect the wound but to their surprise he was already healed. Nothing was wrong with him. The mother witnessing the whole thing hugged her son tight, still crying and shaking. But she was relieved now. Later he would find that he wasn't the only one to experience this phenomenon. His friends in high school had powers just like him. But theirs were triggered by different emotions. such as pain, sorrow, joy, and fury. The took on the aliases that their powers were activated by. Thus Fear was born. He later had a crush on Fury, but was turned down, which sparked a friendship between fear, sorrow, and pain. They were his new family now. Brothers and sisters. Although they didn't start crime fighting like he did.
Update:
Quote:
On the day that fury was supposed to give birth, Fear had taken her to the hospital probably setting a land speed record in the process. It was a long intensive process, but they managed to bring the baby out. Unfortunately Fury died during the child birth. Fear was beside himself. Stricken with sadness and depression, he stayed by her bedside for three days. On the third day, when they were going to remove her body, Fear wouldn't let them near her. He barricaded the door and closed himself in with the corpse of his love. His daughter had been removed before hand to intensive care, seeing as how she had the same medical problems fear had when he was born. She was a pound in weight, her airways were clogged with mucus, and she had asthma. But she was alive and being taken care of.
The ghost of Athena had graced Fear with her presence and told him of a way to bring back his deceased love from beyond. "Go into the underworld and pluck her from the pool of the dead. It will not be easy to get there, many traps and foes await you." Fear nodded and gave fury a kiss on her cold forehead. Then leaped out the window.
He made it to Greece in 6 hours. His body was already feeling tired, wanting to take a rest. But he pressed on. The underworld was not easy to find, but he managed. Upon entering he was confronted by an old man who asked him for coins. Fear didn't have any coins, but he did have a credit card that he never used. The young boy handed it to the elderly man with a smile as he rubbed the back of his head. The old man slipped it into his robe and gestured to Fear to follow him. A curious Fear followed the man, as they entered a dark cave. There was dim lighting on pathway, Fear could barely make out the figure that was in front of him, who he assumed was the old man.
the old man finally stopped walking. As did fear, then a wall closed behind him which made fear worry a bit. The old man he was lead in by turned and faced the boy. His skin which before was barely hanging onto the bone, was now nothing but bone. The cloak he wore was now tattered and black and he wreaked of old meat. A fume other than dead meat entered the chamber. Rendering Fear unconscious.
When the boy awoke, he was in chains, being tormented by demons most foul. Lucky for him, their aim sucked. They were throwing knives and other miscellaneous sharp objects at him while he was chained to a spinning wheel. They accidentally set one of his hands free, giving him the freedom to make his other shackles crumble under their own weight thanks to his gravity manipulation. He took them down with a gravity pound and took off down the hall.
He met up with countless monsters and corpses, but triumphed over them all. However he was stopped by a goddess of the underworld. She did not fight him though. Instead she gave him information, on where to find his love. She didn't care much to interfere. The young hero thanked her and left as quickly as he'd arrived.
Afterward, Persephone was killed and Fear was the only one to blame, yet he was no where near her when she died. Hades appeared before him not too far from the pool of the dead. Telling him of the reasons he was not allowed to take his love back with him, the sins he committed, and the imbalance he would set forth. Fear ignored this and did battle with the god of the underworld. Even though his body was already beaten battered and bruised, fear triumphed, if only barely, over Hades by using the god of the underworld's own blades against him. Besting a god in his own realm was a very impressive feat to say the least.
Fear was now barely even able to stand. But he dove in after the love of his life, her soul rang out to him like a beacon, silhouetted in a gold aura. But with each passing second in the pool of the dead, he became just that, dead. The pool was draining him of his youth and strength, until he finally caught up to Fury and was empowered by her might. He exploded from the water like a torpedo and landed on the surface with a mighty thud.
The ghost of Athena appeared before him once more and spoke "Congratulations young hero. But you are warned. Hades will not let you to leave so easily. You must defeat him again, and this time take the bident pendant along with his helmet in order to be allowed to leave this realm." with that she vanished in a brilliant white light.
When Fear fought his way back to the river of Styx, Hades was waiting for him. He was now roughly the size of Goliath. Again Fear and Hades fought, but this time Fear had a new weapon from their last battle, The claws of Hades. Fear had morals about killing others, and he could proudly say he'd never taken a life before. but if he were to get out alive, he was going to need to set aside his beliefs and do what must be done. Fear latched onto Hades with the claws and ripped the soul from the Olympian's body absorbing it into his own. Doing so made him stronger than ever. All his wounds started to heal automatically, his asthma disappeared and his build got a little bigger. But he still needed to take the bident pendant from the corpse in front of him. He did so, and put it around his neck. It glowed an astonishing bright gold.
But now the souls of the dead surrounded Fear. They crawled on top of him and formed a dog pile. Only his hand was visible before it was completely engulfed. The ghost of Athena appeared before him once more, not even bothering to lift a finger to help. "You are now granted passage to and from the underworld whenever you please, young warrior. But not before bestowing upon you this gift for defeating Hades." When Fear emerged, his once crimson armor was now onyx black, on his left arm his should guard was now a bronzed bull skull, and underneath it was a bronzed fleece. His gauntlets were now made of a certain ore found in the underworld, they were much heavier than before. His pants were replaced by a Greek wrap. His perpetually closed eye had finally opened, and revealed his eye that changed from a normal human eye to a demonic red eye that seemed to glow and pierce whatever it looked at. His teeth were now fangs that were bared every time he smiled. He looked at the ghost of Athena and glared at her with an unforgiving death stare. "You are able to change back anytime you wish. Just press the bident symbol on your armor." He walked over to the corpse of hades and brutally ripped the helm of darkness from his head. It morphed into a mask in which he placed on the left side of his head. The pendant still glowed astonishingly but now it was tainted, no longer shining gold. It was more like the pendant was reflecting his soul, radiating a dark red. Fear pressed the bident symbol on the left side of his breastplate and reverted to normal. After he ran to fury, picked her up and traveled back to the hospital where Fury's body still was. He gently laid her soul on top of her body and just as he did, color started to return to her face, a heart beat sounded on the monitor followed by many others, she was stable and alive. Fear was relieved and passed out on the chair at the foot of the bed, only to be woken up by his daughter and soon to be new wife. Fear was once again revisited by the ghost of Athena. "Well done hero. But you will need the power you have gained to defeat the threat that approaches in the near future." Fury looked at fear with wide open eyes. This meant his retirement was now over, and he would need to protect the world once more. He kissed his love and told her that once all this was over, they would have a wedding. She replied with, "Give those sumbitches one for me." before he ran to the window and smiled back at his new family. Then leaped out and took off flying in search of anyone who could help him take on this new threat.
