Most dark-pelted lions hated the middle of the day. Kucha-moto? He LOVED it. The heat gathered would linger in his fur all day, and into part of the night, and Kucha LOOOOVED being toasty-warm. It vaguely reminded him of days gone past, of time spent with his father and brother...and before she died, his mother. Kucha frowned, rolling onto his back to let the sun soak into his belly fur.
It had been a while since he'd seen his brother. After their father's death, they hadn't stayed together long. Laini went one way, Kucha had gone the other. Perhaps...it wouldn't hurt to find his brother. Just to make sure the gentle giant was okay. Laini was too kind for his own good at times.

Mmmm...Sunny days. Zao did so love sunny days. The sky was a most wonderful shade of blue, the clouds didn't have a hint of darkness on them, the sun warmed his fur and lit his way as he plodded through the lands unclaimed by others. He likely would have kept on plodding along, had he not noticed something black, white, and red not far from him.
Curious, Zao changed course and made his way over. Ah! Another lion! Wonderful, wonderful! "Good day, brother! Enjoying the Daystar's rays?"

Kucha opened a golden eye to notice the very...GREEN lion heading his way. Ah...company. Did he want company right now? He wasn't sure. Meh...why not? Not like he really had anything to do at the moment.
"That I am. Helps to keep me warm once night falls. Dark fur is good for something, after all." He smirked slightly, amused. "What brings you this way?"

"Ah...it does tend to get rather cold at night." Zao chuckled and sat himself down not far from the other lion. "Just letting my paws carry me where they will. Searching for a place to call home, eventually." He grinned. "What of you?"

"Seeing what the world has to offer. Perhaps find something worthy of putting myself to." He smirked. "I had enough of 'home' for a while. I'll be a free-spirit for now. I am Kucha-moto. What is your name?"

"My name is Zao." His name wasn't as long as the other's...but the green lion thought it fit him well enough for now. Simple and easy to remember. He was about to say something else when a ladybird beetle landed on his nose. He chuckled.
"Well...seems we have more company! Hello little bug. Come to join us in the sun?"

Kucha blinked at the splotchy lion...then raised a brow. "You're...talking to a bug?" Why the hell was this guy talking to a bug? They didn't exactly talk back.

Zao grinned at Kucha. "Well...wouldn't you want to be talked to if you came over? Just because it can't talk back in a way we understand, doesn't make it any less intelligent than us." He was, oddly, very matter-of-fact about it. "It's simply the right thing to do, interacting properly with it."

Kucha was still surprised by this lion. He frowned...then sighed. "Okay. So if it's so smart, why doesn't it figure out how to talk back to us?" There! Have a good dose of logic. The dark lion rolled back onto his belly and sat himself up, yawning from the warm feeling he'd had sunning. Mmm...he was definitely going to be warm into part of the night. At least a little bit longer than it would take him to fall asleep.

"For the same reason we haven't figured out how to really understand them." Zao threw Kucha's logic back at him with more logic. "We're generally rather intelligent creatures, so I see no reason why other creatures wouldn't be intelligent just because they can't talk with us and vice versa. It'd be rather hypocritical of us to demand they prove themselves intelligent by talking to us in a way we understand when we can't do the same back."

Well damn. The weird guy was right. Kucha made a face, nodding. "True. Very true. Hadn't thought of it like that." He stretched, yawning again. "So...why are you so...outgoing? How did you know I wouldn't just outright attack you, hm?" Zao was a very, very odd lion. Kucha wondered if the guy even knew how to fight.

Zao chuckled, and watched as the ladybird bettle flew off to unknown parts. "Most don't. I don't hold it against you." He smiled at Kucha again, ears perking up. "Oh, I didn't. But I like to think the best of others. And I may not look it, but I'm rather light on my feet." If he had to, he'd run from a threat. He'd been doing it for so long, after all, it was practically second nature.

Kucha just STARED at Zao. Was he...was he joking? Because...wow. Just wow. Kucha coughed and shook his head. "Okay...you're officially REALLY weird. Are you traveling on your own?" Because if he was, he wouldn't be for much longer. He was NOT going to let a guy like this alone for long. It just...wasn't right! His Dad would have his HIDE if he let Zao just wander around alone. Well...if his Dad was alive.

The splotchy lion tilted his head to one side, curious why Kucha asked that, and nodded. "I am indeed. I've no friends to really call my own and..." He hesitated a moment. "No family, persay." Oh he had family...but it was not family he'd ever see again, if he could help it. Gods, he hoped he never saw his family again.

Kucha-moto made an annoyed noise and shook his head. "Okay. Not anymore you aren't. From here on out, I'll travel with you, until you find this 'home' you're looking for. Guy like you should not be left on his own!" He sighed. "Geez. Please tell me you can at least HUNT?"
