Full Name: Lashiel Tabris
Occupation: Lash runs the lighthouse that perches on a cliff that over looks Siren's Shore. Her family has lived there for generations and has helped guide sailors away from the dangers posed by both sea and mythical creatures to the safety of the harbor. On clear days, she has been known to take her small boat out and go fishing. If the catch is good, she takes the fish to market to earn a little extra money.
The lighthouse is old, but it was built to endure time and is in remarkably good condition considering its age.
Age: Lash is twenty three years of age.
Appearance: Lash stands at about five feet seven inches and generally goes barefoot--which mean her feet are as tough as leather. She only wears shoes when she goes into town, and these are put on very reluctantly and are removed the moment she gets home.
Her clothing is always simple-- a sunbleached white shirt and faded jeans or cargo pants. Her bits of color come from wearing one of a variety of multi-pocketed vests and waistcoats of varying colors. These are worn in whimsical practicality-- the pockets allow storage of a variety of potentially useful items and the multitude of colors allow for a change in the day to day.
Her black hair is worn long and is always in either a low ponytail or a tight braid to ensure it stays out of her eyes. Lash is deeply tanned from all her time in the sun and her face is lightly dusted with freckles. Her eyes are pale blue in color and she requires glasses if she wants to read something.
Biography: Lash was a b*****d child between her mother and a fisherman she loved. They planned on getting married when Amalia, Lash's mothe,r learned she was pregnant, but her father, Lydon, was killed at sea during a particularily rough storm only a few days before the day of the wedding. His boat had hit the cliffs of Siren's Shore and sank. Amalia was heartbroken when she learned the news of his death. She gave birth to Lash but died a few weeks before Lash's fifth birthday. While she had been sick with pnemonia, her grandfather always said she'd died of a broken heart.
Lash has few memories of her mother. Most of what she knows come from stories told by her grandfather. Lash remembers that the skin of her mother's hands were rough, but they were always gentle when they combed her hair or tucked her in at night. She can remember her smell--like lavender and the smell of the ocean and that her hair was long and dark like her own.
Her grandfather raised her as best he could and taught her everything he knew about the lighthouse and the sea.
These days, Lash has taken over most of the mantainence required to ensure the lighthouse functions correctly as taking care of any trips to town. The Old Man (as Lash always refers to him as) spends his time fishing and whittling random pieces of flotsam. These are then painted and sold in town when Lash gets the chance.
