So in what direction should we go in first of all? There's the comedic route, or having a serious storyline.

Ok, so we're going with comedy, now we need a theme. And story.

Yes guys, the deadline is June first. I felt we needed one.

If we're doing this with several people and it's all about fun, I'd say we'd definitely have much more fun if we made it a comedy. That way we could all laugh and enjoy it rather than be attempt to be emotionally touching. That's just my personal opinion though. Any ideas for plot?

I have to agree. That was my first thought anyway, and I can't imagine trying to get a gaggle of people trying to write a serious comic, I think it would sound a little....stiff. So that's two votes. Since there's not much other people here, I think we'll just start with that.

So we're going with comedy I guess.

We could go with a musical theme'd comic >.>;; or something that could have a lot of different angles...

I think that something with lots of possibilities would be nice, so people could take the story in a direction they like, or are best at.

Maybe we could have a sort of random comic, where anything could happen. That way everyone could do things they were best at. At the same time, however, it's very important that we establish a solid plot, beginning, middle, end, so that things don't go haywire and the entire idea dies.

That or at least a goal that the main characters are reaching for. And what types of challenges that they might face that prevent them from reaching that goal. So even if they succeed or fail, at least there was something they were aiming for.

We should definitely gather up a few people before coming up with the ideas though. We need one that everyone agrees on. That, or we could come up with the idea together and people who wanted to do it could join the guild. Unless you have any other ideas...?

I like the idea of a partially random theme where almost anything could happen, and as we go along and get to know the characters, we find that they share a similar goal. Or, they could each have different goals, but they stick together and help each other towards each of their goals.

That sounds good, so as long as these characters are aiming for something, that leaves enough open for people to experiment, but also to stay on track with the story. And if anyone veers off course too much, or so it seems it doesn't mean we've hit a dead end. It just means the next person has to think of a clever way to get back on track.

Ok, so now that we know that...what type of story do we want to attempt? Go ahead, throw the wildest (or not so wild) idea out there!

Well, I remember a while back I came up with a little something. There was a girl who wanted some critique on her story about a generic, demon boy meets angel girl story. I replied to her post with this:

It sounds generic, but then, I guess anything can if you just sum it up in one sentence. You can easily twist this to your readers' delight with a little creativity, however. For example, instead of a princess of light, and a prince of dark, why not switch around the two? Not only that, but make the prince a badass in a land of goodytwoshoes and the princess a wimpy pushover in a tough, gothic world.

If you were going for a random comedy, you could simply have them meet over Ebay. Put roughly, perhaps the prince is trying to sell his mother's (the queen) favorite antique peice of pottery because he has a secret love for sewing and wants money for supplies, and the princess buys it from him. They then meet at a border between their worlds, where, after a slight conversation, they decide that they don't like each other in the least.

Adding to the paragraph before, the prince has gone to sell the pottery in secret, since he doesn't want his mother finding out. The princess, however, has come with a complete honor guard and even in a personal liter. When the prince sees all the guards, he decides that it's about time he left and makes a break for it, breaking a guard's nose, a horse's leg, and an innocent peice of antique pottery in the proccess.

In the end, he's captured and brought to the princess. She then brings him bound up on a horse to her father's palace, with him making crude comments, jokes, and insults all along the way.

When they reach the palace, the king sentences the prince to death, not knowing him to be the prince of the light nation. The princess, being soft hearted, begs for his life and in turn it is decided that he will be forced to be her personal slave for life.

And so, the manly man is forced to serve a pushover, and not happy about it in the least. Meanwhile, the kingdom of light is furious over the prince's dissapearence, and they are reeking havoc all throughout the land searching for the missing prince.

The rest of the story could be about the very awkward and funny moments of the prince forced to be a slave, and the prince and the princess slowly going from hating each other to loving. You would definitly need to add in a few more charecters; the princesses close friend (a girl, unless you want to get into a love triangle, which might make things even more interesting), a guard who becomes friends with the slave, and maybe a cute furry animal or two that the prince likes to smack with baseball bats.

I just came up with all of this off the top of my head, but it's a suggestion, and you can feel free to use it, I don't mind. In the end, you can change it and make it how you like, and it's all the little details and plot that really makes this manga, this is just an idea. A pretty damn good idea though, if you ask me. It's your story, though, do whatever you want with it and have fun!

Here's the link to the actual topic I posted this on. I dunno, do you think we could work with this?

I was thinking of something simple and nonrestrictive, yet that has an inherently clear-cut goal, like a group of campers lost in a forest, or a group of friends who miss the last bus in the "dangerous" part of town and have to get home safely.

Ya know, an obvious objective, while being extremely open-ended and allows for hi-jinks. Also leaves a lot of freedom for character types, rather than anybody having set roles. Very malleable. Those are just my thoughts anyway.

That's true. We should definitely have as much freedom as we can get while keeping on a focused main goal. I can imagine a few humorous things I could do with some campers surviving in a forest, since I'm a bit of a nature freak >w< Any other thoughts for ideas?
