Hobbies: Curiouser and curiouser - Jayden, mostly at school, can be seen with his nose in a book, but usually it's a factual book over the study of one thing or the other. He finds the technical aspects of things exceedingly interesting. He'll spend hours reading about the physics being certain theories or concepts. Or maybe he'll suddenly want to know how a light bulb works and will go dig up as much as he can about light bulbs and their functions, maybe find a few blueprints to study. Though he rarely tries to make anything with his knowledge, he's certainly tempted to from time to time. You don't spend hours reading about something and not get ideas of your own.
Take a chance? - Card games are one of Jayden's fortes. He's got a stone-cold poker face and an analytical nature to match making him a great gambler. He tries to keep it on the down-low, and only gambles when he's sure he'll win. This method of play makes him seem invincible and unbeatable and also may throw off the opponent's game if they're easily intimidated by reputation. Might as well increase the chances of winning, no?
Games like pool and darts he also enjoys as they have a basis in mathematics so are easily won.
Boom, headshot, you @*@&$!!! - Sometimes, you gotta blow off steam, and trash talking is just the way to do it. For Jayden, this comes in the form of first person shooter multiplayer games. He only plays on the weekends though, and only at home in the confines of his room where he won't disturb anyone with his angry shouting.
Though it may seem out of his personal tastes, he finds it a necessity. Blowing off the extra steam makes it that much easier to keep a straight face and remain undaunted by outside forces. Especially his sister who, despite his attempts, irks him to no end anyway.
Virtues: Reliable/Organized - Though he may not seem too friendly, if you've got something to get done, Jayden's the person to go to. He nearly always keeps promises and likes to come off as the dependable type. Drunk and need a ride home? Call Jayden. Need help with math? Jayden. Burned your dinner? He'll figure out a way to improvise.
He's got his pens in the pen container and the paper stacked neatly, and if there's something you need to know he probably knows it. If he doesn't, he'll find out for you (aannd because he'll probably be a bit bitter about not knowing something).
Though he's pretty lax, he does like to keep to a loose schedule and tends to get irritated if things don't go as planned. Party cancelled? He'll probably sulk about it griding his teeth over the next few hours as he mentally revises his plans.
Calm, Cool, Collected - Even if the world were to break out into panic, he's keep clam. He keeps his views practical and to-the-point, which is the best thing to do in a crisis. His resolve comes from being not easily phased, and also not appearing to be so. His poker-face comes in useful here as people tend to follow people who remain calm in dire situations.
Though if too much is put on him at once, he may crack. It hasn't happened yet, but he's the type that if things go from bad to worse to even badder and everyone's screaming at him, he'd scream right back at them to shut the heck up so he can concentrate.
Tell it like it is - When people ask him for advice, he's not afraid to give it. Jayden will do his best to tell you exactly what you need to do in the situation you've given him. He's often creative and clever about it, giving people solutions that hadn't even crossed their mind. He doesn't sugar coat his words but he'll give you the advice you need to fix it, which makes it less hurtful to some. Does that dress make you look fat? Yes. Yes it does. Try a nice waistband/belt to bring out the smallest part of your body, combine with a pointed heel, and boom. Very slimming.
Flaws: Blunt/Sarcastic/Critical - While his bluntness can be a virtue, it can also be a flaw in the sense that he's not very considerate. When someone says they want the truth, he gives it, not bothering to censor what he says. His advice can also be interpreted as an attack, causing many people to storm off huffily if they don't know that that's just the way he is.
When in a bad mood, however, he often gives his advice sarcastically, purposely trying to sting at the other person. Worst case his sarcasm turns less into sarcasm and more into a direct and outright insult. Does that dress make you look fat? Yeah, why don't you try not stuffing your face at night while I'm trying to study?
Overly Private - While Jayden isn't anti-social (he's friendly in terms of what's expected to maintain his image), he's not a butterfly either. He likes to keep his private life private--very private. He probably wouldn't let you know what he had for breakfast; if it has to do with him, it's none of your business. Because of this he can be very bad as expressing his emotions as well, which makes him come off as a douche sometimes.
He's overly defensive about anything he doesn't want you to know about and tends to snap if you pry too much. And you can forget about friends. While they're good for social progression he would never tell one his personal woes as it may come back to bite him. Another reason he likes to play video games from time to time--it lets him vent out his emotions. But games can only do so much. What he can't let out often frustrates him, causing him to snap at people much quicker even if they do nothing wrong. Depending on the person this could have various consequences. Alternatively it also causes minor depression, especially with his recent family loss. Unable to lean against anyone, he doesn't know how to deal with it and it eats at him.
Picks Fights - He doesn't pick fights in terms of pushing and shoving, no, instead he antagonizes people through his manner. If he's playing a card game, he'll smugly announce his victory and criticize the loser to try and get a reaction out of him. He loves testing people when it comes to competition which could cause problems if anyone actually took a swing since he's not physically strong. He's usually careful about this only going so far to embarrass one person rather than a group. He learned that lesson the hard way once, coming home covered with cuts and bruises. Occasionally though he'll make the mistake of insulting someone with a short fuse, and since he's not very physically strong (plus his limp), he'll end up getting a beat down.
