Dr. Thomas walked into the new medical lab she had set up just a few weeks ago and turned on the lights. Making her way over to a centrifuge she set the twins' blood vials in and told the machine with a few button presses to spin it until the blood separated into parts, then analyze the results. While she waited she placed a call to Tristan's parents, and caught them shortly before they would have left their hotel for dinner. She explained the situation to his mother, who told Dr Thomas that they could not leave the conference until Sunday afternoon at the earliest, which was two days away. However, she did give Dr. Thomas consent for any blood transfusions or other medications to be given to Tristan as needed until she was able to physically be with her son.
Hanging up after a polite goodbye, Dr. Thomas glanced over the results the centrifuge had uncovered, somewhat alarmed by how high the twins' bacterial count was. Medical files and results in hand, Dr. Thomas made her way to the Medical Imaging Department for a couple of portable xray machines before heading back up to the treatment rooms in the ER. Her preliminary diagnosis of whooping cough was looking more and more likely all the time, but a chest xray would be necessary to make sure it was definitively whooping cough
