Somehow, somehow he had managed to get the afternoon off. Certainly the influx of new-comers had spread the work out, and with more people coming in daily, it was nice to know that the workload seemed to be depleting. So, armed with a hot afternoon to himself, Kentori had changed from his work clothes into some tighter breeches and a fitted tunic cinched at the waist with a wherryhide belt and made the long trip to the plains atop the Weyr where the herdbeasts were kept and the dragons fed.
He hadn't been aware of his admiration for dragons, but soon upon arriving here on one's back, it felt like he had discovered another piece of Pern's history, and he wanted to know more about it. In all his training at the Ancientcraft Hall, they had hardly discussed dragons. They were a given to society. However, he did remember some old records that mentioned something about the creation of dragons, and he suddenly had a new interest in them. they were no longer belonging to Beastcrafters, but to Ancientcrafters in their origin.
Glad for the breeze at the new elevation as he surfaced from the caves, he leaned against the fence of the feeding pen, watching dragons gain their kill with the utmost grace, even for something so big. It was definitely a nice way to spend his afternoon.

Safira had finally managed to finish her chores and work for the afternoon, and they'd let her off for a break. Of course, the first place she was headed for was the top of the Weyr. She'd thought once she'd reached the bustling place she'd see more dragons than she had at Harper Hall, but she'd been kept so busy. This was the first chance she'd gotten to come gaze at the beauties.
Coming up out of the caverns, she noticed someone else was also taking their break up here. "Oh!" she gasped softly as she paused by the cavern exit. Biting her lip, she pushed herself forward toward the dragons to watch them. "Um, hi..." she murmured softly, half hoping he hadn't heard her. She had to at least try making friends...right?

Kentori looked away from the pens and once he noticed the girl approaching him, flashed a smile. "Hello there~" He said it more loudly than she had, hoping that she would understand it as an invitation for further conversation. Only a dragonlength away, a rather large black dragon killed a wherry with one easy movement. Kentori had caught the dragon approaching out of the corner of his eye, and turned to watch. His face brightened up when the dragon veered upward with the wherry in his claws. "It's quite the show up here, don't you think?" He hadn't really meant to ask that aloud - really, it was to himself... Oops.

Safira hated the blush that formed across her cheeks when he turned to look at her. It happened anytime she was under the spotlight, so to speak. She tried a small smile just as the dragon caught her eye. Her eyes widened as the beautiful creature made its kill. Even taking life dragons were gorgeous creatures and she hoped against hope that she Impressed at the impending ceremony. As she watched the dragon carry his prey, she had unconsciously moved closer to Kentori. "Amazing," she whispered, eyes still on the dragon. A moment later, her blush became darker as she realized she'd come closer without realizing it. Dragons had always managed to snare her attention away from everything else, but back at Harper Hall, there'd never been anyone else watching when she was.

Kentori looked at her a moment, eyebrow raised. She seemed quite captured by the dragon's display. "Name's Kentori," he said simply, the smile falling from his face, though he didn't look unhappy in a neutral expression. "Just got here a few days ago... Searched for this hatching." He didn't know the origin of this girl, but he certainly hoped she'd been here longer than he. There were a lot of things he didn't know, and a seasoned Candidate would certainly be of help to him.

She smiled. "S-Safira. P-pleased to meet you," she murmured. "Same h-here. I've b-been here for about a w-week..." She toyed with the edges of her tunic, a nervous habit. She wondered where he had come from, but bit her tongue, not wanting to seem forward or nosy. "They are beautiful," she said, looking back at the dragons as the sunned themselves. "D-did you want to be Searched?" she wondered aloud, hoping that that question at least, wasn't being too nosy.
