Looking to her other side, Wykla observes the next group of eggs to face her touch. The group consisted of Abstract Bowtie Egg, Teal Swirl Egg, and New Day Egg. She tilts her head and lightly cresses the abstract bowtie. This egg certainly felt like it would be large and in charge. Silly egg. A step takes her to the teal swirl. Well well well. She smiles at the playful nature of the egg. Even though it seemed to be upside down she wondered if the dragonette inside wasn’t right-side-up. What a lovely joke to play on everyone. Finally the new day egg caught her attention. She took in a small gasp of breath at the amazing colors that decorated this egg. Patting it Wykla feels soothed and at peace.

The light of the Inner Light Egg draws her irrevocably onward. Stopping to look at it curious Wykla wonders how it has the effect of glowing from the inside. She thinks this egg will be sociable and friendly. Perhaps it’ll provide some inner insight to its rider. Next the Grey Speckle Egg. Wykla chews her bottom lip slowly. Someone sure didn’t like their placement. Perhaps a touch hidebound for her tastes, she moves on. The last of this group, the Red Slash Egg, seemed to be throwing its own little tantrum. She leans away from the egg. It annoyed her when the little kids acted up and this really was no different.

Ralae did her best not to chatter on the way towards the Sands, she really did. Of course, it helped that most of the other Candidates just ignored her. She was used to it by now and tried to keep the nervous and excited talk to a mental one. Her feet were bare unlike some of the others who wore sandals or shoes. She kept trying to catch Wykla's eye in hopes that maybe they would go through the Touching together. It was really nice that she would be able to stand.

Maybe they would Impress together?

Ralae was hoping to make a friend out of the other girl. If not a friend, at least a friendly face. Back to the task at hand! She rubbed her sweaty hands on her tunic as they finally hit the Sands. Her small figure was in the middle part of the group and she watched the others ahead of her bow and pay their respects. Some spoke out loud, others were silent. Trying to make up her mind, all of a sudden she was in front of Feynath and Eirlyn. Gaping, she stared up and up at the Gold. Wow. For once, Ralae was speechless. Quickly, she bowed and tried to think. "Um. Feynath, you laid a really wonderful clutch and thank you for letting us be here. This is my first time Standing, I am a little nervous but I promise not to make a mess of things."

And with that jumbled remark, she scurried towards the egg that had caught her attention when she had spied with Wykla, the Teal Swirl Egg. It was still upside down and Ralae knew better than to try to make it right side up. Amused, she placed her hands around the egg, almost in a hug. It was bi-i-i-i-g! At least to her. Smiling, her face had glow that hadn't seemed to be there before. "Oh hello! There you are. And aren't you keeping yourself amused while waiting to come out?"

Ralae would swear until the day her bones were left behind that there was a mental chuckle when she asked that question. The teenager wanted to stay with that egg the whole time but another was coming and she knew better. Sighing, she let go and moved along to the Inner Light Egg. This one was green all over like grass and leaves. Her warm brown eyes sparkled as she ran a hand along the part that seemed all glowing. A warmth and she could almost imagine a smile in return. This one had been kind of hid from her earlier adventures. "You seem happy. Are you happy to be around or be with the other eggs?"

She walked around the egg, keeping her hand on it for contact. This one would probably make good friends with the Teal Egg. Maybe they would like each other a lot when they hatched. Ralae liked this idea and sent her best wishes before moving on to one more egg, the Grey Speckle Egg. It had been near the other egg and therefore the most logical one to touch. Ralae pushed her hair back and squinted. It was all dark and freckles. Almost like someone spilled cleaning stuffs on it. More cautiously, she leaned into this egg and felt it's grumpiness. "Well then! Why so moody? Soon you will be out and there will be a lot for you to explore."

It was like the egg sighed and tried to ignore its neighbors. Like a little pouty child in the creche who didn't get its way. Ralae gave it a sympathetic pat. "Just relax. You didn't get to pick where you got laid, you will just have to make the best of it, okay?"

A long breath exhaled slowly, she was mostly done with the clutch. Taking a quick moment to pause and glance around at the other candidates. Watching them touching and talking to the eggs. Well best get back to what she’s suppose to be doing. Turning towards the last group, Wykla hesitates. She gives a gulp as she looks at the cluster containing the Bold 'n Gold Egg. Something about it daunted her and she didn’t want to touch it. She really should touch it and give it a chance to observe her.

With slow steps Wykla heads over to the last group of four. In front of her lay the Event Horizon Egg. It looked cute trying to be seen against the others. As if puffing itself up would make the others bask in its glory. A rueful grin crosses her face as she tugs her black hair. They had something in common after all.

Deciding to save the queen for last, Wykla moves around to the front. Her gaze rests upon the Royal Bands Egg and its close neighbor, Half and Half Egg. She ponders these two for a minute, tapping her finger on her pursed lips. Seemed to her that behind everyone is a good friend who’ll support you no matter what. She hoped that that friendship would never break for them.

Finally, her eyes turn reluctantly towards the Bold 'n Gold Egg and she moves up beside it. Her fingers barely cress the side of the shell. This little queen seemed full of indignant irritation. Perhaps she’s upset at her mother for being so protective, Wykla ponders. No one could have crossed the egg to make it upset already could they? With her time done, she scoots off the sands and goes to think about what she felt and experienced.

Zeren reluctantly moved his hand away from the Teal Swirl egg, moving among the others he tried not to stay too long at the rest, pausing long enough at each to get a feel of the dragonet inside.

He reached the Bold and Gold egg, at first he was going to bypass this egg, but changed his mind thinking it best to pay repects to the Queen inside Honourable queen, hatch well and find yours swiftly he sent to it. Heading down the sands back to the candidate master he nodded to the others that had finished touching the eggs, wondering if he was meant to wait for everyone to finish, or if he should go find something to do.

This was it. This was what she had been waiting for. Ice, the poor creature, was sending her unhappy thoughts from the dormitory; he didn't like being told to stay away in the least, but much as she loved the little beast she didn't have time for him right now. As she approached the shining clutch and the glorious queen, she came to a halt and bowed deeply.

Queen Feynth. Thank you for giving my fellows and I this chance.

Had the gold actually heard her, she wondered? She had wanted the massive dragon to hear her thoughts, but she didn't know if wanting was enough or if you had to do more. When it was your dragon it was all supposed to flow naturally, she knew that from lessons, but she wasn't sure if other dragons could pick up on thoughts directed at them...

But that was a question for another time, for now there were eggs to be seen to.

First of all, she approached the Bold 'n Gold Egg; she knew that a gold dragon would never choose her, but she touched the bright shell all the same as a mark of respect, and tried to send a feeling of welcome to the dragon within. Next along was the Half and Half Egg, and Kleos found herself smiling as she laid a hand on the shell. Such nobility. A dragonet she could identify with for sure, perhaps even if it didn't choose her she and its rider would be good friends. As it was quite a large egg, the chances of it wanting her were minimal anyway and so as she moved on Kleos found herself looking about at the other candidates and wondering who might draw the Half and Half's attention.

Now for the Purple Spotted Egg, a curious one for sure; curious as in strange and... perhaps as in inquisitive as well? She got now particular feeling of hostility or welcome from it when she touched the bright shell, so she settled for sending it a feeling of affection before setting off once more. The Brown Patchy Egg was another matter; as she approached Kleos could have sworn she saw it move... When she actually laid a hand on the shell, she had no idea what to make of it. What she did know, however, was that this was a very bright dragon indeed. By the size, her own guess for it was a blue so there was no shot a wingleader for it no matter how clever, but she could easily imagine this little one growing into an advisor to bigger dragons.

Smiling to herself, Kleos moved on to the Grapejuice Dip Egg... It seemed pleased enough to have her touch it, which in turn pleased her. It was nice to be liked; she didn't imagine that this was some deep instant connection or anything, but she could believe that one way or another this dragon would be fairly friendly to her when it came out of its shell. The Orange Art Splotch Egg was next and... and an extra jolt of excitement ran through her body as she touched it. This one planned to go places, she felt, to do things... was it ambitious, or just eager to see the world? Maybe if lingering was allowed she could have got a better idea, but as it was she had to move on again and quietly wonder.

As Kleos approached the Abstract Bowtie Egg she found herself smiling a little and straightening her stance, one confident creature greeting another. Touching it was a pleasure, its certainty in itself reminded her of her own convictions. Yes, she believed she deserved to Impress, but if she didn't this time, if she never did, she would be alright. She had a home here at Malvren, and she would find a way to make her days well spent ones. She wanted to be chosen desperately - who didn't? - but being left standing wouldn't kill her.

Next along was the Teal Swirl Egg, and the sight of it made her chuckle softly as she approached; a jester before it was even hatched by the look of it, another one comfortable in its own skin... or shell, as the case currently was. Moving on Kleos came to the New Day Egg, and this one was a complete turn around from the Teal. Calm seemed to emanate from its shell, calm and the freshness of new life... A green or a blue, probably, perhaps this one could make a sweet and gentle companion to Adria, or to anyone else for that matter. Who knew why dragons chose.

The Inner Light Egg drew her attention next, and as she laid a hand on the green shell Kleos gave a contented sigh. This egg was kind, friendly, glad to know her even if it didn't choose her in the end. It was a decent size - she guessed at blue or brown for it - but whatever it was she felt that it would be a warm and gentle creature. Then she came to the Grey Speckle Egg, and was once again struck by the contrast between the egg she had just touched and this new one. This was not a pleased dragonet at all, she would have to watch it carefully at the hatching... but maybe it was just displeased with its current company; it might be much more relaxed around the right people, whoever the right people might be.

If the Grey Speckle egg was annoyed, however, the Red Slash Egg was furious. At first Kleos pulled her had back from it in surprise, like one might after brushing a hot stove. Once prepared for it, however, she placed her hand back on the shell. What was angering this one? She really had no idea, but it seemed ready to take on the whole world despite its small size. Forget the Grey Speckle; this one the the one to be wary of when the shells began to shatter.

Second to last was the Event Horizon Egg, tiny tiny but shards this one had an ego. Kleos smiled wryly to herself as she stroked the shell, thinking a little of her own massive pride. Certainly her feeling of self-worth was well warranted - she was a good and noble person - but she was aware that from the outside she could seem rather like this little one. The question that remained, therefore, was whether this dragon's vanity was warranted, or if it (she, it had to be a green by the size) was all hot air.

Finally, the Royal Bands Egg soothed her as she reached out to touch it. Collected, steady, content in the background by the looks of it. Brown or bronze by its size... Probably not for her, but she enjoyed touching it anyway, and it seemed glad to have her touch it. It would have been nice to stay longer, to touch some of the eggs again, but the rules were strict and she was not about to violate them. So it was that Kleos straightened up for the final time and turned to walk off the sands, lost in thought. There were several eggs she could imagine hatching into dragons that could choose her, but she was very well aware that there were a lot of candidates and only fourteen eggs, one of whice certainly wouldn't be interested in her. Nevertheless, as she left the oppressive heat behind she felt positive about the upcoming Hatching. If nothing else, it would be wonderful to see dragons being born.

Alurel slowly made his way through the candidates and on to the next egg a splotch one that seemed rather impatience. He couldn't blame the dragon for that feeling because being cooped up in a shell like that and unable to advance would only drive someone like himself crazy. It won't be long I think then you'll be free. he nodded in thought as his hand lifted from the egg.

The rest of these really wouldn't take him too long he calculated as he reached forward to the dark egg right next door. Obviously, this egg was not for him but there were plenty of girls about that the dragon could choose from so he didn't linger.

However, the next egg stopped him even though it wiggled about just a hair under his light touch. But what had caused him to pause was a sense of intelligence that emitted from within. Intellect mixed with mischief that could either be a winning combination or trouble in the making because it had to be combined with a questioning creative mind similar to his own. The thought caused him to smile as his own desire to converse with the dragon hidden within tempted him to stick around much longer than expected.

Soon he was scolding himself mentally for getting caught up like that especially when these personalities revealed were only a small part of the dragons within. There weren't an guarantees of connection. And so many other candidates could be right for any of these eggs. Moving quietly but quickly, he found a purple egg also close by.

The quiet within the egg also caught his attention but it seems slightly distracted as well. He wondered if it were just a deep thinker or uncertain of itself. There was no way of knowing and well after the previous egg he didn't want to fall into another interesting trap of thought.

So finally he side stepped around the purple egg and walked towards the larger red orange that was very close to the gold. He was pretty sure that there was a good chance for a bronze in this one and he probably wasn't the right candidate. But as he touched it he could appreciate the proud noble soul within.

Leaning over he touched the next egg that seemed to support the one he had been standing beside. The feeling of welcome was very positive and if Alurel didn't have one more egg to go, he would have been happy to end his day there. This dragon would easily take in someone even if he couldn't guess what sort of person at this time.

It took Alurel a second to navigate around the area of the Gold egg since most of the girls were trying to get one palm on that shell. Now that was at least one egg he didn't bother to get too good of look at. While he was happy that there was another gold in the future, there wasn't any future there for him.

So last but not least was an egg that almost got a chuckle when he felt the vanity that poured from the shell as if trying to make a very purposeful statement about itself. He knew some dragons doted on there own appearance but he really hadn't seen such a deep sense of that until now.

Turning away from the last egg he made his way towards the end of his journey. Certainly, there was a good mix of dragons to be sure. A few of them he would watch because they held his interest but of course, if they didn't choose him he'd accept that. He knew that the Touching's true purpose was to minimize damage of candidates and dragons first not to set up candidates and dragons. These feelings from the eggs were just a fortunate addition to that process.

Just as suddenly as she had fallen, there were two people at Tie's side trying to help her up. One of them she knew, the Trader who liked to ride the runnerbeasts, and another was a figure she did not know - a young man. Both of them were talking on the sands - a HUGE NO NO NO - and Tie quickly got to her feet and tried to politely (yet swiftly) brush the other two people away. She'd really hate it if they got in trouble all because she wasn't used to wearing shoes and they wanted to talk and ask how she was doing, so it was with a strong smile and a nod that she motioned them both to go back to what they were doing, turning her hands quickly to place them on an egg lest the Dragon Queen get even more upset then usual.

Her hands had landed properly on the Half and Half Egg now, her attention moving from her smarting shoulders and slightly bruised ego. The egg didn't really make her feel any better, as she wasn't particularly too proud in whatever it was she'd been doing, so the emotions were rather wasted on her and she frowned just a little bit. That wasn't to say that Teipet didn't feel pride, seeing as she was pretty proud of herself now and again, it just meant that at this moment she simply wasn't. Taking her hands off, she decided to return to the original group she'd been fussing over - seeing as it made more sense to stay moving in order.

If she followed whatever route she was going before, the next egg she met was the Grapejuice Dip. Just like all the other eggs it was warm and hard beneath her fingertips, and just like all the others she could feel the faint impression from within. Just as the egg from before this one felt proud, though a bit more feminine if it were possible. This type of pride she could relate herself to a bit better, and it brought a little smile to her face. Her hands gave it another gentle rub, and she went on to the next. Time really wasn't that important even though they urged them onward, but it never hurt to keep going.

Next in line was the Orange Art Splotch, and Tie really loved the feeling that came with touching this egg. Impatience was always fun, mostly when it meant whatever inside was eager to do something, and the sensation of awe was something new to her hands! She loved the way it was leaving its impression on her, and hopefully come hatching day, be the dragonet inside willing to look at her or not, she'd still get to meet this dragon!

Once Tiepet had returned to touching she quickly blended back in to the crowd toward her next grouping of eggs, as though she had never spoken upon the sands. She knew she shouldn't have done it. It was stupid. But she also was not going to let one of the few people she knew here get hurt just because she was clumsy. Pushing the thoughts of what might happen to her after the touching - she hoped no punishment would befall her, but it was certainly possible - she moved among the crowd and back to the Orange Art Splotch Egg, which she gently laid her hand on. The anticipation she felt from it made her slightly ansty, but it was something that she appreciated. The desire - almost need - to act upon something. Though she liked it, she quickly moved on to the next one, lying her hand upon the Grapejuice Dip Egg. She immediately felt her presence and touch welcome upon this egg, and the pride it emanated was reassuring, she was certain.

Making a note that she felt a good vibe form this clutch in general, she laid her hand upon the Brown Patchy Egg next, letting it linger there for just a moment. She was certain it had moved slightly under her touch, and she had to restrain from smiling. Each time the impression pulsed beneath her hand, she felt something different, though with an underlying sense of intelligence beneath it. Letting that sink in, she removed her hand and shifted over to her nexxt egg: the Purple Spotted Egg. It did not have the same feeling as the others - it was calmer, and she felt like it was watching the goings-on with a sense of curiosity. There was only one last group of eggs for her to touch now, and she moved toward them quickly. She had been taking too long...

With time in mind, though not wanting to seem like she didn't care about these last three eggs, she moved at a hurried but steadied pace. First she laid her hand upon the Abstract Bowtie Egg. The price and confidence exuding from this egg made her smile, though it was one that she kept hidden. It was disappointing that she couldn't linger with this egg, because she certainly liked it, but she forced herself to move on, placing her hand upon the Teal Swirl Egg next, forcing herself not to giggle at its current position. I'm glad you're comfortable in your position! she thought as she felt the easy playfulness from the dragonet inside. If had wanted to stay upright, she was certain that it would have. It certainly wasn't going to have trouble, that she could tell. See you later then, she said as she removed her hand and placed upon her final egg, the New Day Egg. The feeling from this one was quite the opposite of the obviously playfulness of the previous, and the calming feeling was one that Rhilira could appreciate. This was another egg that she definitely liked.

She removed her hand from her last egg and stepped away from the Candidates who were still bustling about the eggs. As she returned to the entrance to wait to be dismissed, she stopped and bowed to Feynath, part in apology from speaking on the sands earlier, and part from gratitude. Thank for allowing me this opportunity.

Kentori next laid his hand upon the Grey Speckle Egg. The grumpy feeling he got from it made him want to give it a hug to make it feel better, but he definitely restrained himself, not wanting to look silly on the sands, or do something he wasn't supposed to. He gave the shell a gentle pat, then moved on to his next and final egg, the Red Slash Egg. It didn't take more than his fingertips touching the egg for him to feel the anger from the dragonet inside this shell. You'll be out soon, he thought, though even the words in his head were quiet. He was not afraid of the egg, but it certainly did not make him feel comfortable.

To him, it was not the very best note to end on, but he forced his spirits to remain high. The rest of the clutch had been good-natured, and there was going to be a queen hatching, too. He had been around the Weyr long enough to understand what a big deal that was, so he certainly couldn't let one angry dragonet draw his find from that fact. No, it was going to be a good hatching, he was sure of it.

Azuran was slightly confused for a second when the blond didn't actually respond and quickly brushed he and the other girl off, but then he remembered that they weren't supposed to converse on the sands. Crap, and I've been out here how many times now? he reprimanded himself internally. Hopefully they wouldn't get into too much trouble for that little slip.

He waited patiently for room to clear again before moving in to touch the brown and red egg. It probably hadn't been too please with being crashed into, but even if that was the case Azuran couldn't tell. Instead he felt a strong sense of nobility about the egg. I can't tell whether you are a bronze or a brown, but either way you are a fine dragon, he told it silently before moving on again. Admittedly, the teen didn't really know whether any of the dragons were hearing his thoughts or not, but since dragons communicated telepathically with their riders anyway he always figured it was a safe bet that they might receive the messages.

The next egg that he touched was a pleasant shade of blue with a darker blue and green stripe around it. It also had a dark blue star on it, which was rather interesting. You feel rather content, he observed, stroking the shell softly. I'm glad that all of the touching hasn't disturbed you any. Happy hatching then. The pretty blue egg next to it made Azuran chuckle slightly as he touched it. It's vanity was rather impossible to miss. I am sure that you are just as beautiful as your shell is, he told it with a smile. Your partner will be lucky to have you.

There was only one egg left on the sands now that he hadn't touched; the large golden one. Assuming that it held a future queen within however, he didn't bother trying to touch it. Golds only ever impressed to women, and he wasn't sure how the egg would feel about having a man touch it. Guess that's everyone then, he thought to himself, blue eyes taking one last cursory glance over the clutch to make sure that he hadn't missed any. Careful not to trip, he made his way away from the Candidates who were still touching and headed back over to the entrance, pausing briefly along the way to bow once more to Feynath. Thank your for your grace and patience.

It was Touching time at last, and Soldekai was running late. He found himself slipping hastily into the back of the crowd of Candidates, gathered and awaiting the Candidatemaster's signal that they could enter. When he gave the go-ahead (sending one unfortunate schmuck practically stumbling onto the Sands) Soldekai filed onto the sands with everyone else.

He bowed, like the others, but it seemed that only some people were voicing their thanks aloud... But couldn't dragons only hear the thoughts of their own riders, with only a few very special exceptions? So he made sure to speak, even if softly. "A beautiful clutch, Feynath. Thank you for the opportunity to see them." Simple, perhaps. Nothing overly flowery, but excessive flattery just wasn't his style. Words and the apprentice beastcrafter didn't always get along, and he wasn't a Harper for a reason - never been the poetic type. It didn't mean he couldn't adequately express his gratitude.

Boy, that gold didn't look too thrilled... Well, Soldekai couldn't blame her. Must be a little scary having a bunch of strangers handle your children, right? But everything would be fine; he wasn't at all worried, beyond the initial intimidation factor of seeing a huge dragon glaring at you. Touchings were a tradition, and if they weren't important, then the weyr wouldn't keep doing them, right?

He paused briefly, letting those who'd arrived before him go first. Only fair, after all... And it gave him a chance to get his bearings. What an assortment of eggs - and such vivid colors! And there was the gold in the back... Still, the first one to catch Soldekai's eyes was actually right up front. He walked straight to the Teal Swirl egg, admiring the way it had managed to turn itself completely upside-down. And it seemed rather nicely balanced that way! He stroked the shell rather gingerly, worried about knocking it over... But it didn't seem to be going anywhere. The shell was warm, and its texture not at all like what he expected. It felt solid, firm - having been told that dragon eggs needed time to harden before they could be safely touched, he'd somehow thought that they would retain some sense of frailty. Then again, dragon hatchlings were huge. Of course the eggs needed to be tough.

"You're my first," he murmured quietly to the upside-down egg, with a broad grin on his face. Then he stepped back, letting someone else have a chance, and looked next to its neighbors.

It was time for her to move to other eggs and all the better for that. Yet Adriaetta, who was not one for lingering thought, hesitated. Considering the thoughts of others was not something she spent much time on. Having the thoughts of another quite literally thrust into her mind, well, she wasn't sure she was okay with that.

But this was the touching! Sure, she was confident that she'd Impress, but even she was willing to admit that her chances were likely to go down if she didn't introduce herself to the eggs properly. No, this was something she had to do. Even if the queen egg hadn't liked her. Deep breath, and she stepped to the next pretty egg. The Red Splash Egg, to be specific.

And, wrong choice! Adriaetta jerked her hand back as if burned, her lips turning downward in a pouting frown. Now then, that hadn't been nice at all. Dragons were supposed to nice. This touching was starting to feel like candidacy in general. Not at all how she'd imagined and not in a good way. But, no. She would not admit that. She had made the right choice and she was going to Impress a dragon to prove it!

Without thinking it over this time, she reached out to the Royal Bands Egg, wincing as she placed her hand on its surface. But... oh. Oh, that was nice. She smiled and it was the bright smile of her usual joy. "Oh, hun, you're like my brothers. I like you best of all," she whispered. A bold statement for a girl who'd only met three eggs, but she was happy with it.

So happy, indeed, that she kept her hand resting there while giving the Event Horizon and then the Half and Half Eggs each an affectionate, but somewhat cursory pat.

As he moved along, Pazzult watched to see what the others were doing. No one was really talking to each other and he supposed it was just the way things were done. Moving to the Half and Half Egg , the candidate tried not to step on or near anyone else. Manners were manners after all and ladies first! Rubbing the egg like one would rub a canine's ear, Pazz chuckled as he could have swore the egg stood a little straighter. A fine little fellow, he was sure of it. "And why not be proud of yourself," he asked quietly.

A side step and he moved around the ring to the complete other side where the Red Slash Egg tried to lean towards, away? Pazz wasn't sure from its companions. This one seemed to be a bit more than angry and he almost hesitated on touching it. But you only had once chance to make a good impression, so he place both hands on it and got the reaction he expected. Something fierce for sure. "Why be like that? No one has done you any wrong."

Turning towards the Grey Speckle Egg, he tugged at his hair and pushed it back. Brown eyes stared for a moment, this one also grumpy towards whatever lay outside it's shell. Or maybe it just didn't like the other egg. Did they really have personalities like that already? Pazzult was not sure but he remembered some of his younger cousins and his sister being different and each acting their own when they were younger. Come to think of it, they acted similar now as they did then. "I hope you will not always be a grump," he told the egg and moved on, brushing his hand along its shell.

Ralae had taken her time to look at and approach the other eggs. Finally, when another person stepped away, she walked up to the New Day Egg and giggled to herself. This one seemed so sweet and nice. She wanted to wrap her arms around it as well but settled for placing both her hands on top of it and rubbing it. Her warm brown eyes refused to leave the egg. "I bet you are happy just to be laid. I know I am happy to be around. Maybe you will do big things when you get older."

Letting go, Ralae lifted her feet a little quicker. The heat of the sands was really starting to burn but she still had to make her way to all the eggs. Turning to the Abstract Bowtie Egg, a mischievous grin danced across her face. She looked at all three eggs in the trio and tapped the side of her face. "I think, the three of you will be good friends. You all seem to happy to be together." Ralae tapped the egg lightly and got a sense of confidence and waiting. Giving it a pat and rub, she walked around and away in a decent mood. Finally, her confidence was up and it was time.

The Bold 'n Gold Egg was by itself. That is to say, none of the other female Candidates were near the egg. It would be a good chance to go over and let the unborn queen get a feel for her. Nervous, she rubbed her hands on her clothes and walked over. The others eggs seemed to form almost a guard around their clutch sister and Ralae took a deep breath. "Here goes nothing..." She oh so carefully placed her right hand on the egg and sighed. It felt just as proud and tall as her dame. Running her hand down the stripe, Ralae wasn't worried about whether or not she would get a gold. Honestly, she would totally be surprised if she impressed so young. But the weyr brat wanted the hatching to be a happy one. "Stay safe in there. You got a lot of people waiting to see how you will act once you decide to come out. You can let them know that you will be the one in charge, alright?"

And with that, she stepped away and wandered to some of the other eggs that were left.

The first egg on Mercy's journey through the sands was a brightly colored egg, strikingly marked in bold red and green that reminded her something of a bowtie. Laying her hand on the shell she couldn't help but smile at the growing dragonets confidence...it certainly didn't seem to mind being in front of its siblings and Mercy had to admire that trait in the little creature to be. You and your rider will almost certainly be a force to be reckoned with she though to the egg, letting her hand trail away as she moved to the next in line.

The next in line was a strange little thing, tilted upside down as it was, but Mercy could certainly appreciate the playful nature of the little fellow inside. I'm sure you'll have just as much fun once you hatch she thought with a slight laugh, before moving on.

Compared to its two neighbors the next egg in the little group of three was almost like a calming influence under Mercy's hand. The design on its shell was wonderfully refreshing and it's obvious pleasant nature would make for a fine friend indeed. Maybe you'll help keep your hatch mates here in line hmm? she asked it with an affectionate rub before hurrying along, mindful not to dawdle to much.

The pleasant nature of the previous egg made the next in Mercy's path appear even more agitated in contrast. The red slashes that adjourned it's shell certainly suited the temper it seemed to be projecting. It's alright she thought to the little angry beast inside soon enough you'll be able to voice whatever it is upsetting you so she told the angry egg sincerely giving it a comforting rub before moving on to the next.

The grey egg beside it's irate neighbor didn't seem to be particularly pleased either - but that wasn't surprising really with the red slashed egg projecting such anger. Don't worry She told the beat inside I'm sure your rider will make things more to your liking once you've hatched. And she was sure this was true - who wouldn't do what their Dragon wanted so that they could be happy? Clearly the poor creature wasn't to happy right now.

The next egg in line was a wonderful green color and seemed almost to glow with an inner light that made Mercy want to reach out and touch it...and despite it's less welcoming nature this egg seemed to invite her touch. It was a pleasant feeling creature and seemed to have a good temper You seem like you'd be a joy to work with! She told the egg sincerely before moving on.

The shell of the egg she touched now was a brightly contrasting creation of orange and white. It was pretty to look at and when she lay her hands on it she sensed a readiness for the world Soon She told the beast...Very soon now! she told the dragonet inside sharing her own anticipation for the upcoming hatching I can't wait to see you as you can't wait to see the world! With one last affectionate pat she moved to the next egg in her journey across the sands.

The next egg was a dark color on the top but a very pretty purple on the bottom. mercy was fond of the color purple and when she lay her hands on the egg it almost seemed that the egg enjoyed her touch as well. There was a pride in the egg that made Mercy smile. You should be proud, you'll grow to be a magnificent beast She told the egg trailing a finger along the purple bit before moving on.

The patchy egg beside the proud black and purple one was wiggling slightly when Mercy approached and for a few moment's she was almost afraid to touch it, jumping a little when it quivered under her hand My! She told it with a slight laugh Your going to be a smart one now aren't you..and maybe a bit of a joker? She asked questioningly since to be honest it was hard to get a clear read on this particular egg.

The next egg in the group she was currently walking through was a bright purple egg with spots of white dotting it's surface. It was a bright and cheery looking egg but despite that it felt quiet when she touched it - almost like it wasn't really paying attention to what was happening here - but focused more on what was happening elsewhere. Ah well we've all be there before She told the creature inside affectionately before moving onwards.

The next egg in her trip was the half red. half orange one unlike many of its clutch mates who tilted this way or that this one seemed perfectly willing to stand straight and proud, but upon laying her hands on it's pretty shell Mercy didn't get any indication of arrogance, it was a nice nobility that Mercy was sure would translate into a fine dragon. You will be a fine Dragon she told him. Mercy was pretty sure by what other had said that this was a bronze or a brown dragon and so would impress to one of the male candidates, but she would still relish seeing him hatch.

In rather sharp contrast to the half and half egg who stood straight and tall the next one on her trip lay tipped sharply on its side but giving it a soft rub Mercy didn't feel like the egg did so out of any sort of malice - indeed it seemed like a welcoming creature You seem like you'll be an agreeable sort She told the dragonet inside with another soft rub before she turned her attention to the next egg

The next egg was a brightly blue one with streaks of lighter and dark bands on it, it was quite a bit smaller then it's neighbors but that didn't seem to affect the way it thought of itself Mercy thought with a smile. I'm sure you shall be a beautiful creature she assured the dragonet within One that anyone would be privileged to spend time with.

The gold egg was the last one Mercy came across and while some of the others had gone to the gold egg first Mercy had saved her for last, maybe so that she could spend a few seconds more with it, or maybe just to get an idea of what to expect from touching the other eggs first. The gold egg was large in comparison to the others and like the half and half egg stood tall and straight in the sands. Laying her hand on the egg Mercy felt the type of royal nature she had expected from a gold egg but the undercurrent of irritation was a bit of a surprise. I hope you'll be happier once your hatched She told the egg. It was hard to tell at what exactly the gold egg was irritated with but maybe it was just the days fuss..perhaps she liked to be left alone? It was as good of a guess as any Mercy decided and with a soft rub she moved towards the person waiting to receive the candidates once they had finished making their rounds.

Sharajan had waited till the crowds around the eggs thinned out a bit before venturing to touch himself. As he did, he wondered what the point of it all was. Dragons impressed to who they chose; did they really think that running their hands over the eggs would increase the possibility? Besides, they were making the queen upset.

He avoided the obvious queen egg; what would be the point of touching that?

The Half and Half Egg got his first touch, although it and he didn't seem to get along much. It was a tad too arrogant-feeling for his tastes. Shaking his head, he moved on to the next one.
His hand moved lightly over the Purple Spotted Egg, tracing the designs for a moment. He really didn't feel anything off the egg. Sharajan frowned; he'd heard of duds being laid, and hoped this wasn't one.

"Hmph." He paused to admire the Orange Art Splotch Egg. Well, not so much admire as blink the garish pattern from his eyes. Shards, but that thing was bright. Placing his hand on one of the bright blotches, Sharajan got a sense of anticipation...though for what, he wasn't sure.

He glanced around and saw people jerking away from the Grey Speckle Egg as if burned. Curious, he wandered over and placed a finger on it. Ah, there was a temper there to make one's eyes cross. "Ain't no point in that, kid," he told it. "You'll have to get used to them all anyway - might as well start now." He didn't feel the hatchling taking the mental hint, and he moved on with an aggravated sigh.

Arelly's eyes flicked up at the sight of the blond girl taking a tumble, and her mouth opened to inquire if she was alright, but she clapped a hand over her lips to stop the noise. Talking was not allowed, she had to keep that in mind. Besides, the girl seemed plenty aware of that and was motioning to the two that had come to her aid that things were fine. With one last look in their direction, she continued towards the third set of eggs in her sights.

An eager hand reached out to meet the Orange Art Splotch egg, and a smile tweaked her lips at the feeling of anticipation that she got from this one. She liked the colors of this one, and the excitement that seemed to match her own. It'll be soon, don't worry! With a slight reluctance, she lifted her hand from the egg (Arelly admitted to herself that she felt the most keenly for this one - must have been the oddball coloring).

Next, her fingers grazed the shell of the Grapejuice Dip egg before the hand pressed onto the shell fully. This one, as the others, felt warm, but something seemed quite.. fond. As though the egg was enjoying this attention. Perhaps this one would Impress to a girl? Was that the reason for the strange affection she felt? The egg was standing straight arrow, and she gave it a secondary pat before moving on her way.

The Brown Patchy egg is what Arelly touched next, and was it her imagination or did the egg just wiggle? This was quite a pleasant surprise - this one certainly was a mover. She could only imagine with anticipation how active this one would be once out of the shell. But there was something a little more planned behind it all, she felt... this one probably wasn't one to be idle without reason (which was the opposite of her). Best of luck with your plans, little one.. keep that energy up!

At the end of the cluster of four, the Purple Spotted egg rested on its side. Arelly almost felt as though she were intruding but nudged her hand forward anyway, resting on the exposed side. Such a pretty egg, she thought, I wonder what has you so distracted? I find it hard to focus sometimes as well. It was easy enough to admit to the egg; it seemed they had that quality in common.

At last, she dusted her knees and stood up. She was down to the last four; it was time to wrap things up.
