Sonali had perched herself in a smallish tree. It was barely large enough to support her weight, but she didn't really want to take to the sky, or find a larger tree just yet. She didn't want to be too far from the ground, she was feeling a little 'off' that day, and lowered her beak to stare at the horizon.

She should find a nest for the night, she mused, but she wasn't ready to settle. There was something restless about her movements, something awkward, as she ruffled her feathers, hunching her wings so they stretched out. Her black feathers were glossy and clean, and perfectly arranged. She took pride in her appearance, but, as she pressed her wings back against her side, she felt...odd.

She shook her head, and took to the sky, but still she did not fly high. Instead, she skimmed across the grass, touching her wings to the tips of the pretty green strands. It was so nice, she thought, her eyes slipping closed, to just fly. Opening her eyes, she squawked as she almost hit a tree, she hadn't realized was fast approaching, and with a most undignified flap, she drew herself to a stop in mid air, hovering beak first, almost touching the tree trunk.

"Well, my dear," she mused, peering at the branch, speaking to herself. "That wasn't smart. Don't close your eyes when you're flying." She shook her head, and settled on the ground, huffing, and ruffling her feathers in irritation. She felt silly. What was with her today?

The hare stretched languidly in the shade of a smallish tree, the sunlight through the leaves dappling her black and brown fur as she shook herself briskly. That had been a pleasant nap, not that she'd been all that tired. But it was comfy to lay in the shade for a while. Or in the sun. Especially when it was quiet like it was today.

Or tonight. It was just about starting to get late...kind of. But that didn't matter, day or night now was now. And it ought to be fun!

Blue eyes bright with a childlike excitement, Kisun looked around herself. Her ears were perked, her little nose twitching as she tried to decide what it was that she wanted to do first. Nibble some grass? Find a butterfly to chase? Look for a playmate? Hmm. Probably not, it was just a little too quiet for there to be a cub or pup somewhere around here. Keep wandering around then? That might work...

...hello, was someone talking?

Her interest peaked, Kisun made her way towards the sound, trying to guess what sort of person might have made it. They were talking about flying, maybe a bird? Or maybe they were just talking to a bird, or about a bird, and weren't really a bird... except now she could see the black and red feathers. So a bird. First guess had been right!

"Hello there!" Kisun called cheerily, bounding the last few steps closer. "I don't fly, but I suppose that's good advice for walking too, don't you think?"

Sonali turned to face the person who spoke to her, surprised to spy a hare. She seemed bright and cheerful at least, and she wouldn't eat Sonali, a wonderful base for friendship! However, the little bird was still a little flustered.

"H-hello," she returned the greeting, her feathers fluffed and a little awkward in her stance. "Y-yes, very good advice for walking, or any thing really. Closing ones eyes seems to make an awful mess of things." She tilted her head to the side, peering at the bunny.

She had such a pretty coat! "I love your colours!" She piped up, her eyes narrowed in curiousity.

Kisun giggled at the bird's reply. "Yes yes, all true. Though, it can be fun for playing," she added. The eyes-closed games were fun! Hide and seek, or the one where, with eyes shut, someone had to catch someone else. Oh yes, such fun.

"And you have a lovely pattern in red," the hare replied cheerfully. Even if the black and red feathers were all ruffled and slightly disorganized. Kisun had a suspicion that the eyes-closed comment had been self-chastising of some kind. But she didn't feel like bringing it up. Teasing wasn't nice. Playing was nice though. Playing was fun!

Sonali blinked in surprise. "Playing with your eyes closed? That sounds just as dangerous as walking with ones eyes closed! Aren't you afraid you'll get injured?" She sounded curious, though she had seemed a little startled to start with.

She preened her feathers a little, pleased at the compliment. She liked her colours, but hers were rather...dull. Except the random red on her feather tips. Whereas the bunny had wonderful shades of brown all over. "Thank you dear," she responded brightly, her earlier chastising forgotten.

"Do you live around here?" She asked, curious. As a bird, she didn't really have a 'nest' of her own, but some creatures did.

Kisun giggled. "Well, the game you play with eyes closed you play with other people who have their eyes open. It's like tag, only the person who is chasing has their eyes closed and has to listen to catch the others!" It was a fun game, oh yes. Sometimes cubs got bitey and frustrated playing it though. Biting cubs were not that pleasant.

Live around here? Kisun tipped her head to one side, before shaking it, ears flopping. "No. I live everywhere," she explained brightly, "You get to have more fun that way," the hare added sagely.

Sonali's eyes were wide. "Oh, well, that sounds interesting," she mused, but she was a little worried. That sounded rather dangerous. She wouldn't be very good with that game, she feared. She was not the most observant person, so it would be dangerous running around with her eyes closed!

She gave a little wiggle, that ruffled her feathers. "Oh yes! I definately agree. I can't imagine nesting in one place, it would be awfully boring. I am like you then, as I live everywhere, or no where, really." She gave a little trill of a laugh. How odd! Having things in common with a hare.

Kisun laughed at the bird's reaction. It was an interesting game. Fun and interesting, so long as no one bit too hard. She enjoyed playing it, as she enjoyed all games. So long as no one bit anyone too hard...

"Traveling is much more interesting," the hare agreed cheerily, her paws doing a little dance already at the thought. It moved her slightly to one side, but she didn't seem to mind...or really notice. "I get to meet all kinds of people. It's fun! Like meeting you. I'm Kisun by the way."

Sonali's eyes sparkled in delight at the friendly hare. "A pleasure to meet you, Kisun! I am Sonali." Her wings fluttered a bit, and a warm look on her face. She was always so happy to meet new people.

"Travelling is my job, to be honest!" She gave a gigglish trill. "I pass along messages from animal to animal, as long as they tell me roughly where the person will be! At the moment, I'm looking for an apparently pretty cheetah, called Noelani? You wouldn't have seen her would you? I've been traveling for a while and have yet to find her." She was sulking a little at that, but she would have to keep going until she found them.

"Your...job?" Kisun repeated, blinking at this bird. Why would she need to have a 'job'? The world was big enough that anyone could do anything the needed to on their own...well. She supposed it might be a good way to meet lots of interesting people. Carrying messages back and forth, going all over the place... "Sounds kinda fun!" the hare decided brightly, though it was far too structured to be her kind of thing.

"A cheetah named...hmm...no, can't say I have. Sorry," she shrugged, "I could keep an ear out though, let them know you're looking for them if you'd like?"

Sonali beamed and nodded at the hare. "It is rather fun, I get to meet a lot of different people," she admitted with a laugh, fluffing her feathers up and glancing around at the surrounding area. There was freedom in her job, but a lovely structure too that made her feel safe. Orderly.

"That'd be great," she agreed. "I'm afraid I tend to lose track of people sometimes, so having other people point me in the right direction is very useful!"

She hesitated, and wiggled a little. "I really should get going," she murmured, glancing down at her feet. "I need to find that cheetah, and I'm carrying a message for a lioness too, but that's not urgent like the message for Noelani." She ruffled her feathers, and flapped her wings lightly. "Thank you for speaking with me! It's baffling how many people ignore messengers if the message isn't for them."

She smiled. "Take care, m'dear!" She called, taking back to the sky. She had messages to deliver still, and while she liked talking to the hare, she really did need to move on.
