Candy lay in her bed curled up under the blankets shivering a little as her eyes wondered the room, she had only been here a couple days tops but in that short time she had improved and worsened at the same time. she had eaten a lot more and become more nourished and hydrated as she had been dehydrated when brought in. But it had taken them until earlier today to diagnose her with phenomena, her fever hadn't gone down any from the 104-105 it fluttered between. Also she had not opened up to anyone not even said one word to anyone, though nothing seemed wrong to prevent her from talking. Though she was easily spooked at the smallest thing.

Dr. Thomas walked in, her eyes assessing the neon numbers the monitors displayed, a hard, cold, factual summary of the battle being waged in the little body curled up on the bed in front of her. "Well Candy, it doesn't look like the medicines are helping too much. If things keep going this way I'll have to move you to another room with some really special things in it to help you. Can you breathe ok?"

Candy gave a small nod the most anyone got out of her either a nod, shake of the head, or a shrug at best. But candy coughed a little every so often she was used to breathing in meth fumes and differently chemicals so she was breathing better in her opinion here than she did at home meaning she was breathing just fine. her eyes followed Dr.Thomas as she moved around the room wondering what was going to happen to her, she just wanted to go home.

Dr Thomas looked concerned when she heard the harsh coughs wrench their way out of that tiny body. In one fluid motion she slipped an oxygen mask over Candy's nose and mouth, and sat the head of the bed up just a little higher. "Candy...I don't think you'll be going home anytime soon. You're very sick"

T r i s t a n Tristan gazed towards the window with a listless look on his face. Sighing weakly he looked over to the two empty chairs where his parents should be sitting. But weren't. Since they had to go to an important business trip. Still he wanted them here with him while he was so sick. Tris shifted on the bed and hissed suddenly when he bumped his elbow on the guard rail. Making a pained sound he looked at his elbow. A bruise was already forming. Pushing the blankets off of himself Tris looked over his knees, bruises were forming there as well. Biting his lip he rested back against the pillow. Unhappy that he was at the hospital because again he was sick.
For as long as he could remember he had always been sickly, weak, and small. Tris spent more time in the hospital than he did at home. Rubbing the new bruise on his elbow Tris wondered how long he would be staying for and if his parents would be back soon. He wanted them here with him. Tristan didn't like it when he was poked with needles. They hurt. It was also scary. His parents had said they would be back as soon as they could. Tris hoped so. Because he didn't like being alone when he was so sick.

Candy looked a little surprised as the bed raised sitting up a little looking at it trying to figure out how that had happened. unlike most kids she hadn't been real curious about the buttons and remote she had on the bed and hadn't been pressing them to find out what they did. she also tried to see the mask on her face becoming slightly cross eyed as she tried to see this new thing on her. but she soon blinked to get it to go away before looking back at the doctor with the sad puppy dog eyes she had hearing she wouldn't be going home anytime soon. It's where she wanted to be not here this wasn't new, she wasn't sick this is how she was most of the time, this was normal, healthy. at least in her mind it was. she dropped her eyes not giving one sign of argument though just starring down at the floor over the side of the bed trying to make shapes in her mind out of the dots within in the tile pattern.

Dr. Thomas reached out to stroke Candy's hair gently, but when that didn't receive much response, she left quietly to see to Tristan's needs.
Knocking softly against the door frame to Tristan's room, so he would know she was coming in, Dr. Thomas noted with some concern that he was staring dejectedly at a bruise on his elbow. She was sure it hadn't been there that morning. Coming alongside his bed, Dr. Thomas asked how he felt, before conducting a cursory search for more bruising. When she found more, she frowned, and hung another 10 units each of fsp and vitamin k on Tristan's IV pole. She hooked the tubing to the heplock she had inserted on his most recent admission, smiling gently at him as she opened the heplock and set the autopump to start administering the medication.
"I know it's tough, Tristan, but everything will work out alright, you'll see."

T r i s t a n Tristan heard the knock on the door, but didn't say anything. Though he did look up when Dr. Thomas moved over to his bedside. Tristan noticed that she had noticed him staring at the bruise on his elbow. "I bumped it." He informed her in a weakened voice. Tristan made a soft sound as the doctor started to search for more bruises. He tried to keep the ones on his legs covered up, doing his best not to move them or his elbow. It hurt to do so.
Tris watched as the doctor hung up another bag on the pole. Sighing softly as Dr. Thomas hooked the tubing up to the heplock in his arm. He had been glad when his parents brought him in that they had been able to find a vein in his arm. It was always hard and it always hurt whenever he was stuck. And he would always cry. Tristan looked up at Dr. Thomas when she had finished to see her smiling gently. "I'm trying to be tough. But I am so tired and lonely. I want my mommy." He told Dr. Thomas as his eyes closed a fraction.

Dr. Thomas smiled encouragingly, hearing the desperation in Tristan's voice. She checked the clock on the wall, and saw that it would be awhile before she needed to round again. She settled herself in the comfortable pullout recliner reserved for parents staying overnight, and held Tristan's hand in her own. "I know you want your mommy, sweetheart. I'm going to call her tonight, and if things haven't started improving for you by then, I will tell her to come down here right away." She looked at the big brown eyes and the hopefulness of Tristan's expression when she said this, and felt her heart ache for him.

T r i s t a n Tristan opened his eyes hearing Dr. Thomas settling down in the recliner beside his bed. He looked over at her as she held his hand. His expression changed from being sad to one of hope at the doctor's words. "Really? Will you call her? I want her and daddy both here." Tristan had a weak smile on his face. If his parents came then he wouldn't be alone and would probably less scared. But he knew that he shouldn't get his hopes up. His parents' business meetings were very important and that they really couldn't just drop everything to come see him. Tristan didn't want his parents to lose their jobs because of him.

Dr Thomas nodded, hoping to reassure Tristan. "I will call, Tristan. Are you alright for now? If you are, I can head back to my office and call them now, while its fresh in my mind."

T r i s t a n Tristan looked over at Dr. Thomas, giving her a small smile. Then he nodded his head at her question. "I'm alright. I even think I feel a little better." Tristan said. "You can leave to call them. I'll be fine." He was probably going to sleep soon anyway. Tristan hoped that when he woke up his parents would be there when he did. That would be nice.

Dr Thomas stood at Tristan's words, and left quietly after ensuring the call button, which was currently programmed to send an alert to her pager, was within Tristan's reach. She headed for the flight of stairs at the end of the hall, taking them down to the main floor, where the emergency room was located...

T r i s t a n Tristan looked over as Dr. Thomas made sure that the call button was in his reach. Last time he had been in the hospital the call button was out of his reach. That had been a bit of a problem for him. Tris rested back against his pillow after Dr. Thomas walked out of the room. It wasn't long before his eyes closed and Tristan fell fast asleep.
