Entry 1 - May 1, 2010
It started out with me at my family's "Den". Not our world, but not sure where it was either. My family was a family of "Weres", but not like we believe weres to be here in our world.
Here weres can change at any time and they can take several different types of forms (they are also all sorts of animals, not just wolves). The forms are: Feral, anthromorphic, domestic, and human. So in otherwords, since I was a were-cat of sorts, I could change into a large feline beast (wasn't one I recognize), or I could be a walking human-like feline, or I could be a common house cat size, or I could simply appear in my human form. The changes did not require a full moon or any special circumstance, but did take training from your elders as you grew so that you were aware of all the things you were capable of.
Non-ware humans here were terrified of the wares and it didn't take much to consider what you did "breaking the laws" and would cause the authorities to come after you to kill you. As a result, all the young children in were families were given these rings for their hands that helped track them. This is where the story starts in my dream.
My parents and aunts and uncles that we lived with in our den were giving out the newest set of rings to the babes so we could track them if we needed to. Each babe was given a different color so that we could tell who was where. My brother was older (younger than me though), but had never been given rings as they were a newer invention. He was very rebellious though, and took the rings but refused to wear them. He didn't want to be tracked by the den. He was stubborn and refused to see that it was for his safety, and not so that he could be monitored by our parents.
Torn by my brother's stubbornness, I decided to go visit Grandfather, the oldest were in our area, who was seen as a sort of wise-man. I went there alone, but when I arrived he had other visitors, as was normal. I explained the reason for my visit, and he offered to come and have a chat with my brother. He was rarely bothered by humans here because he was too old to have the energy to change anymore.
While we were visiting, two of the cubs he'd sortof adopted hid my shoes. They refused to tell me where they were, the young girl of the two siblings insisting that they were now part of their "museum" and couldn't be returned. I finally got out of her brother where their "museum" was, but he refused to help me get them, so I went on my own.
Somehow, their "museum" was on the grounds of a human college/university that was in session. I was baffled, but determined to find my shoes and figure out how they'd been hiding things here without being found out or questioned.
I wandered around the outside of the building, but many of the doors I tried were locked or had humans in tests (it was finals time). I almost got stuck in the middle of a final, but played it up like I was in the wrong test room. Another were was there and recognized me for what I was and followed me. She'd been there pretending to be a human just to see how long she could. Said it was a test to try to get into college. HOwever, as we were chatting, we got spotted (the humans have some sort of way to tell us apart, even though in our human forms we don't look any different than the normal humans).
We had to scale a couple of walls and change into our feral forms to get away with speed, but the humans pursued us. We made it to Grandfather's house, though and they seemed to have given up. Grandfather's son was on his way to visit, and one of his mentees (who was a human who wanted to learn Grandfather's knowledge of the hunt -- Grandfather was very good with a variety of older weapons) was there practicing.
I'd met the mentee before. He was very arrogant and believed he was very superior to all weres and challenged me. He wanted me to try to beat his aim with a bow and arrow with my speed in my feral form. He'd gained a lot of weight since we'd last battled, though and I was concerned. He insisted though so I raced off while he tried to attack. Unfortunately, the strain was too much and he died about half way across the challenge field. We decided to eat him since he had no family anyways, and there was no sense in letting the meat go to waste.
Grandfather's son arrived shortly there after and I helped him into the secret area of the house (you had to enter through the side and someone had to help pull you up through an entrance that was far off ground level). We were hiding there because Grandfather had received news that the authorities were coming after me and the other were I'd met at the university. He helped us into hiding spots just as they had reached his doors.
And then I woke up.
