I'm currently reading "The Kingdom of the Cults" by Dr. Walter Martin. Its a really good book for debating against Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons. Also, another book called "The Agony of Deceit" by Michael Horton which talks about the Word of Faith movement corruption.

Many of the stories touched my heart. The Voice of the Martyrs have a little `zine they send out bi-monthly, I think, and it's free. The stories are so heartwrenching. It really makes you praise God for being in America (assuming you are) for all the religious freedom we have.

tehe, I dunno about more peaceful... but sure, I guess it is a little bit in comparison. But not Toronto. O_O it's lookin like a small New York or something with like 70 shootings this year... actually, I was there a little while ago, and my hotel was on the street of the last shooting. we got to watch the cops do the CSI thing, putting the yellow evidence markers everywhere. 3nodding but yea... Candada rocks. xd

um, I'm reading... *looks down* an Archie comic. *cough...* lol, yea, nothing of interest at the moment... xp

I live near Houston in a small town called Katy and at my Highschool last year my sister alone heard of like at least 4 deaths. But yeah don't know if that matches proportionally to 70 sweatdrop

well, where I live nobody's died... except last year we heard about a kid who committed suicide. he went to the junior high school that I did a while ago. but nothing came up on the news or anything so we dunno... but it's pretty safe here... just walk around downtown and the worst that'll happen is you'll get someone bothering you for money.

It is absolutely ridiculous how the LDS church breeds group mentality. I know some of you are probably going,"But wait, this guy said he was LDS in the introductions?!?!?!" I don't really trust any religion. I trust what I find for myself. But every religion breeds some sort of attitude that is harmful at times. Here, i'll even make a list.

Mormons
Repressed sexuality and almost like a fear of explaining the details of sex to kids because it's uncomfortable to talk about.
A cult like style of thinking
The belief that the group is more important than the individual

Christians
Ruling by fear of damnation.(History says so)
Going overboard on beliefs
Narrow mindedness
Constantly saying that there is no way that the book of mormon is not true when someone Jewish will tell you the same thing about the new testament.
Jewish
And as for the Jewish faith, I do not have enough knowledge of those beliefs, so i'll say nothing on them since I know practically nothing.

And don't say i'm attacking religion either please, I'm just pointing out some of the negative things that religion can and does at times breed. I even threw my own faith in there too.
