Basic Information
The M8 Exploits the same firing system as the G36, similar to both the HK416, SA-80, and AR-18. The firing system is much more reliable and useful than the direct impingement or delayed blowback method, although slightly more complex. The weapon itself is extraordinarily customizable, coming with a shorter, but less comfortable 1 inch stock, and a more comfortable, more ergonomic 12-9.5 inch stock. The weapon also comes with a G36 like top. The weapon of course, exploits polygonal hexagonal barreling, that has lighter grooves, which still impart the same amount of spin, but allow for a more circular pattern, that captures more of the expanding gases at a quicker rate, that ultimately increases velocity, proportionally higher in shorter barrels. The barrel is as well, expensive, and hard to make, but it's process, that involves hammerforging, produces barrels of a higher quality regardless, and the polygonal rifling is simply a natural addition to this. As well, the barrel does not have cut 'grooves', and instead has a much smoother surface, that according to the FBI leaves roughly .000 ballistic imprints on bullets. In accordance with the 12.5 inch barrel, several quick change additions are also available, including rapidly switching to a 20 inch barrel, a 9 inch barrel, and a heavy 20 inch barrel. The weapon also comes with it's own uniquely designed 100 round drum, so that any basic weapon can quickly be transformed into hi-cap light machine gun or automatic weapons platform.
The weapons system is also a part of the integrated OICW weapons program. It's completely customizable weapons system is coupled with the concept that is essentially an 'attachment', or more accurately a part of a larger weapons system. Due to the fact that it can be attached to a larger weapon, the removable stock, sights, and other applications of the weapons simply allow the weapon to preform ergonomically when not attached to it's primary weapons systems.
