As Thali looked at her clipboard, an impish smile crossed her face. She was teaching yet another one of Vincent's friends. Cody, he had told her, was a sweet boy who liked helping people. He was patience and greed, so she gathered from the clipboard. A teenager, too. This would be fun! His last spirit class had been on wind... Hm, wind. There was so much one could do with it.

Ah! The elf had finally settled on what she would teach him. A kind, patient boy like Cody was sure to enjoy making designs with the wind. Maybe even moving things with the wind. She set two chairs in the middle of the room. She thought that should be efficient.

Cody, needless to say, wasn't too terribly pleased about being back at the facility. It would have been worse if the class was something entirely useless instead of honing his ability to control wind. His control over it had proved useful in his recent outings, which was why he was actually on time and not incredibly late so as to shorten the time he was there.

"Yo. This my magic class?" he asked upon opening the door and peering around and only spying two chairs and an elf. No items hanging from the ceiling to further his treasure horde, eh? Pah, whatever. He'd deal.

Thali was rather surprised when she spotted Cody. That wasn't the sweet little teenager she'd been expecting. "Yes, this is your spirit class," she confirmed with a nod. "You're Cody, I take it? I think you know my son, Vincent. Oh, and call me Thali," she added. "I suppose you want to get started. You know the basics of controlling wind," she said, glancing down at her clipboard.

"I figured we'd take this class in another direction. Tell me what you want to do with wind--besides stealing," she added. "I won't be able to help you there."

Cody just stared at his teacher for a moment as he tried to remember who this Vincent was that she claimed he was a friend of. A fuzzy memory from when he was younger was all the teen needed to confirm this statement as true. “Yeah… And who said I used my magic for stealing anyways? Is it really that obvious?” he asked with a smirk, containing his amusement that she had figured out his purpose for arriving ever so quickly. Not like it wasn’t painfully obvious by his appearance and constantly searching eyes for the next addition to his horde. At her question, however, about what he wanted to specifically do outside of slicing through doors, his mind instantly went to a specific spawn. As he forced back an uncharacteristic blush the boy just shrugged.

“Not that I can think of. You’ve already guessed at my first intention.”

Thali smirked. "No, it's not obvious, unless you have a greed spawn for a son," she said. "I know Vinny'd be all for using wind to add to his horde. So tell me about yourself, Cody. Maybe I can find something you'd enjoy. Maybe sweeping someone off their feet, literally?" The elf chuckled at her joke; naturally she was thinking along romantic lines. She always was.

"So maybe you'd like to use wind as a weapon, or a form of defense," she considered. "Your magic wouldn't be powerful enough to cause storms--would you like to make minature whirlwinds?"

A soft blush tinted Cody’s cheeks, his eyes wandering away from the elf. She certainly had a way with making his thoughts turn to the curly-haired spawn. “Heh... Ah... Whirlwinds would be alright,” he replied softly, crossing his arms and attempting to remove the blush from his face. Whirlwinds would prove useful for both destruction and distraction, not to mention defense if someone happened to show up. Then again, it wasn’t the most stealthy thing he could do to keep things going smoothly.

But what about half the things he did was truly stealthy? At least it was destructive and cool looking.

Thali noticed the blush and gave a small smirk. So the boy wasn't as tough as he seemed, hm? He had someone he cared about. Interesting; it was unfortunate that she wasn't here to teach him about romance instead, she would have liked to gossip. "Whirlwinds are a personal favorite," Thali mused. "Small ones. They're useful, pretty, and easy to do." She stood from her spot behind the desk, rolled up her sleeves. She closed her eyes to focus for a moment, and then--the roar of a small whirlwind followed.

"You see?" she said with a florish. "You try. Oh, I should tell you how. All creatures such as you and I, have a certain untapped power within us. Once we learn to use that power, we can create things, cause magical things to happen. You have to reach down deep within yourself, focus on what you want to do. Imagine it. See it, feel it. If you know what you want to happen--it might just work for you. Perhaps try something small at first. Try a gust or two."

Cody simply scowled as Thali smirked at his blush, restraining himself from giving her the blackest glare he could muster. As she demonstrated what he was going to end up learning how to do, the boy couldn't help but feel a little frustrated. She was essentially telling him things he had already learned in his FIRST magic class.

And yet, he forced himself to suck it up. There wasn't much use anyways getting upset and yelling or whatever he felt like. Taking a slow deep breath, the teen concentrated on creating a gust of wind, pondering on having it swoop around the room. Deciding against it, he slowly felt a slight breeze pick up into a small gust of wind that grew in power the longer he thought about it and held it there. Eventually he released it and worked on creating another, this time attempting on twirling it around into a slight circle and the sort of beginning of a whirlwind.

Thali took up her clipboard from her desk. She studied it, frowning slightly. "Oh, so you're more advanced with this," she said, having realized something. She had been teaching him basics when he was clearly above that. "I apologize, Cody," the elf said sincerely. She watched the wind he'd created with interest, and a genuine smile crossed her features.

"You seem to have talent in this area," she observed unneccesarily. "Could you possibly make a bigger whirlwind, then? Show me what you can do. I'm afraid this page doesn't tell me all that much about you."

Cody groaned as she finally realized he was beyond what she had been teaching him. His small and half-assed attempt at a whirlwind faded away as his concentration broke. Despite being a child of the virtue, he found his patience wearing thin. “Fine. Whatever,” he muttered under his breath, no longer messing around. She wanted to see what he could do? Fine. He’ll show her what he had managed to figure out on his own. Summoning up his remaining patience and concentration, he worked the air around him into a gentle swirl. Once going, Cody focused on making it far more powerful by quickening its speed and tightening the rotation.

Within minutes a raging whirlwind whipped about in the room, angrily sweeping up and spitting out objects that happened to come within reach. The teen held it there for several long moments before dismissing it completely. “I can do far more subtle things as well,” he commented, turning to look at the door to her classroom. Slowly it clicked open, creaking ever so slowly open before suddenly slamming shut. It had taken him a good amount of time to figure out how to do such a thing but it was well worth it. This was especially so since it was exceptionally helpful in luring unsuspecting victims into abandoned buildings to be mugged for what little money they might have.

Thali was impressed, to say the least. Never before had she had a student so powerful. She watched as the whirlwind wrecked havoc on the room, and instead of worrying about the mess, she was delighted. "You tell me what you want to learn," she said, correcting the error on her clipboard. She had been told he was a beginner. He needed advanced classes!

"Can you make winds strong enough to hold people?" she asked interestedly as she watched his display. "Do you want to learn? That might be useful... since you have a romantic interest. Might want to pull them closer, hm?" Typical Thali. Always thinking of what could be used in a romantic manner. "I suppose you could use it to push someone out of the way of a car, too," she added.

Cody shrugged at her questions, grumbling something under his breath at her last statement about his love interests. Yeah... Edes would probably find that absolutely romantic but arms worked just as well some days. "No idea. Haven't tried," he replied, not bothering to mention that he didn't have a whole lot of control with the stronger stuff. Whirlwinds were easy as all he had to do was direct it in a circular pattern and path while to keep someone in the air at a steady level and not send them flying or tumbling through was about ten times more difficult.

"Sure, whatever. Make getting rid of people easier too," Cody replied, muttering the last bit under his breath. This teacher was far more romantic in thinking than he cared for. Almost made him miss Ary's harsh teaching style. Almost.

This student didn't seem particularly interested in learning, Thali thought as she frowned. "First, we'll try something less complex," she said, moving out from behind her desk and putting a chair in front of Cody. "Push it away from you," she said in explaination. "Then move it towards you. That's the first step to doing what you may be learning today."

She paused, standing next to her desk. "Focus, you have the ability already," she assured him.

Oh. Great. Moving things a controlled distance away and back again. Despite Aenira's help and teachings whenever he managed to STAND her, neither really had the patience or time to attempt that. "Fine." Focusing and gathering up the air around him, the teen attempted to move the chair back only a few feet.

Unfortunately, that wasn't what happened. With a crash the chair fell over and onto the tiled floor. Thankfully it didn't break or splinter off fragments. Grumbling irritably the boy physically set it upright and back to where it had been before and tried again. It took almost four tries to figure out how to move the chair back without toppling it over.

And then another five to move it back. Cody hated chairs and probably would have been completely fed up with the exercise had his virtue not prevented him from feeling too frustrated. One good thing, he supposed.

Thali resisted the urge to snicker at the poor boy. Honestly, mistakes were funny, and it probably didn't help the cause that she was in all technicality, a teenager herself. Instead, she attempted to reassure him. "You're doing fine," she said with a smile. The boy was making progress, a good sign, a promising sign of his abilities.

"Control of an element can be difficult," she mused aloud. "Practice may not make perfect, though you'll improve," she added in the same thoughtful tone. How could she help him? "Perhaps try something heavier?" she suggested. "Chairs are easily knocked over, and don't weigh as much as a person would, assuming you'd want to move someone," she added. She moved her desk in front of him, not trusting the patience spawn's abilities enough to let him experiment on her.
