Anyone alive out there???
So...thus far this year...it's been pretty quiet for me. Blah.
So far...I have..
Run a Bollywood workshop...it was small, but the choreography was well recieved.
Run a "Big Beautiful Buns" workshop at a large Middle Eastern event called Qaina. I also opened up a shop I call "The Blushing Lotus". I sell Bellydance whatnots, catering to the larger dancer, but I do also sell stuff for smaller dancers too. So that rocked. Danced in the show with my troupe. Pretty awesome.
Went to a "Bollywood for Bellydancers" workshop, which was SO worth the drive to Pittsburgh! I learned some new footwork and spins, and I was talking about my troupe and was asked to do my new choreo for the class...with out music...Do you have any idea how hard it is to dance with no music? UG! Musicality is like 90% of my performance!
And this weekend I'm heading down to Colombus to take a workshop with the fantastic Mia Donna!
My studio head is going to a health expo thing, so she and I are hoping to bring in some new students to the studio. *fingers crossed* I so wanna run my beginner's class again! ;_;
We're starting to get some more perfomance gigs, and we're dancing in a few demos this summer, so that's awesome.
Also, I'm starting a new troupe. We're focusing on Tribal and Gypsy styles, and we're thinking of the name "New Moon Circus"...2 geek brownie points if you can figure out where I got the name from!
So what's going on with everyone else??

That all sounds really fun, even if it was fairly quiet.
This year... I've done almost nothing for belly dancing. I've just been busy with school lately, but I've also been really into popping so that's what I've been up to. It's really so much fun. I've been trying to combine it but I've realized that my focus has definitely been elsewhere. I need to get my body moving for belly dancing again. It's been hitting and strobing and tutting and waving, but I think it needs a refresher in the more sensual side of movement.
I've been teaching myself. I'm broke, which doesn't help. I've been thinking about teaching some popping, and maybe find a better way to blend it. A lot of the problem there is finding music that suits both styles. I need to do a few performances, choreograph some stuff. Maybe I'll post what I've been working on some time in the near future, though it depends on my camera.
Hope to hear more from everyone.

I quit dancing while I worked and studied. I did get away for a while to take a workshop from Patricia Passo. Check out her YouTube videos! It was one of the most amazing workshops I've ever taken.
