In the wee hours of the morning, just as the sun was peeking up over the horizon, Ori had managed to somehow slip into his mothers' room and snatch up one of Ebony's "forbidden tomes." He'd had his eye on this particular book for quite some time now and had spent many hours contemplating exactly how to whisk it away without getting caught. Well, now he had it and his whole body was a flutter with the prospect of casting one of the high level, very dangerous spells contained within its pages.
He had taken to an empty clearing, making sure no one was around to see him practicing this forbidden magic. Quickly, he flipped through its pages and searched for the best, which meant most dangerous, spell to cast and, after "memorizing" it he set about weaving the magic. He mumbled a long string of foreign words and moved about in complicated, elegant steps, something he could have only learned through dance lessons with his more feline-like mother. At last, it was time for the finale, and in a deep, forceful whisper he called out the last word of the spell. A bright blue spark hovered out in front of him, flickering wildly as if it had a life of its own.
Ori watched with growing anticipation. As far as he knew, he had cast the spell right and thus was about to summon a great demon from the depths of the earth. However, quite quickly it was obvious something had gone wrong. The spark unexpectedly expanded and, as its caster watched with the growing realization of his failure, it continued to expand and grow ever increasingly closer towards him. After countless failed attempts at magic in the past, Ori had learned that running from an incorrectly cast spell was useless. Rogue magic always found its caster. So, he simply shouted out a curse in Ebony's foreign tongue and covered his face as the spark engulfed him.

Rec was an early riser by nature. As the music angel she found herself always out in some clump of trees listening to the morning birds sing their wake up songs. Each calling out to one another in their own language which the others couldn't understand. The beauty of it left Recitative speechless on so many levels.
This morning was no different. Reclining in the branches she rested her head gently against it's trunk and hummed along with the birds. Wings pressed close to her body she was reminded of when she was a kit, and the songs her mother used to teach her. Softly singing it to the sky, which had taken on a strangely blue hue. Knitting her brows together in pure confusion Rec lifted her head as a group of birds located in her tree took off in the opposite direction from the strange happening.
Worried that someone may be hurt Rec took off in the direction of the commotion. She only hoped she could make it there in time before something terrible happened.

The blue spark was a bit more like an orb now, and within it was so much chaos that all that could be seen was a raging storm of smokey colors and static. Inside, Ori was curled up into the fetal position, paws over his head, feet tucked against his belly and his tail tucked between his feet. For all the havoc that could be seen from outside the orb, nothing much seemed to be happening to Ori himself. He would get zapped here and there by a bit of static, but nothing to match the scale of what might be expected. He even ventured to peek at the magic happening around him, only to have a bright spark of static flash right before his eyes and thus causing him to cover them once again.
Eventually, the orb began to grow smaller and with it the colors and sparks within subsided until all that was left was the same little spark that Ori had first created. Slowly, Ori uncurled from his position and stared at the spark hovering in front of him. He was honestly surprised to be completely intact after that and his glowing mouth quickly curled up into a triumphant grin. He may not have summoned some great demon, but at least he managed to avoid getting harmed, or worse, by what seemed like a rather powerful spell. Of course, he was completely unaware of the fact that his pitch black coat was now completely white.

Finally the sky seemed to go back to normal. In less of a rush she glided towards the clearing where the strange light seemed to have come from. Hesitating slightly she moved forward and peaked out from behind a bush. The first thing that came to her eyes was a strange orb of light. It was kind of cute in a way, floating about. Sighing Rec was reminded of a little pet she once had that followed her around like a dog follows a human.
Scanning around her eyes finally landed on......someone she didn't know. He looked scary like Ori, but Rec wasn't colorblind and they certainly looked white. Unsure what to do now Rec slowly came out from her hiding place and approached the male. If he was a relative of Ori's then maybe she could learn something about the male he wouldn't tell her himself.

Ori rose to his feet and gave a small laugh, probably expelling left over panic from the indecent. He had every intention of swatting at the spark like a curious kit, which could have resulted in even further damage to his coat or worse, but when a faint sound caught his ear this idea vanished. Slowly, he turned his head toward the source of the sound, which happened to be that of a rustling bush, and spotted a rather familiar face.
"Rec! Hey." He grinned widely at her, still oblivious to his rather dramatic change, and wondered if she had witnessed the whole thing. He hoped not otherwise he'd have to concoct some extravagant explanation as to what happened and that he completely meant for it all to happen as well, "How long have you been there...?"

Backing away slightly Rec was unsure how exactly this guy knew her name but she wasn't sure if she liked that he did. Did Ori actually tell his family about her? Blushing lightly at that thought she realized this guy sounded exactly like Ori too, he even said her name the same way. "Ori......?"
Moving forward she stood next to the orb and took a closer look at it. It seemed harmless enough but sometimes the most innocent looking things were what killed you in the end. "Only just recently have I come into the clearing, I saw the light and the birds had quite the upstart. I was coming to make sure no one was hurt..." Turning to look at him again she hesitated before opting to inform him about his condition. "Why is your fur white?"

Her initial response to him caused Ori to give her a very strange look. Of course it was him, who else had a glowing smirk, feline tail and eyes and the miniature wings at their ankles? "Of course it's me, that's a silly thing to ask..." He watched her approach the spark, about to advise her against touching it, though he himself would certainly not adhere to that warning at all, when she answered his initial question. With a mental sigh of relief, Ori stopped any formulating of an excuse for what had happened. Now that that was settled he could just pretend everything went smoothly.
Until she asked about his fur, of course, "Huh?" Instantly, he looked down and gave a cry as he saw the white fur, "The heck?! How did that happen." He began to poke at his arm, tugging gently on the fur and hoping that it was just some kind of weird residue or something, Unfortunately, it wasn't and his fur remained completely white in spite of his efforts. He was completely oblivious to the fact that he had just been set up by his mother.

Feeling a little rebuffed Rec pursed her lips slightly. He acted almost as if she had been hit with a fit of insanity when it was quite obvious that he didn't look like himself. Wouldn't one notice that their fur color had been switched to the very opposite color it normally was?
Well that certainly explained it. Though she wondered how he had gotten in such a state without even knowing it. "Has some of your magic perhaps..... gone awry?" That seemed to be the explanation as all the events leading up to that point fit in perfectly with it. The light, the spark and the fur, only his magic fit those. That or something she knew nothing about.

"Uhh...." There really wasn't any way of getting around it. He would have to deflate his ego a bit and admit to screwing up a spell. Though, he wasn't actually sure if that was what happened. After all, he did everything the book told him to. Maybe the spell had been a bit too far out of his skill zone. No, that couldn't have been it. Something else must have gone wrong, something that didn't involve him messing up or being too weak. With that decided in his head, he gave a short nod, "I'm not exactly sure. I was casting a normal spell, one I've cast a bunch of times before, and things just went kinda....crazy. I think someone must have tampered with my magic or something."
His eyes wander off towards the book, giving it a thoughtful expression. It was going to bug him all day until he figured out exactly what happened while he was casting. Then he'd have to figure out how to change his fur back before either of his mothers caught him like this. They would undoubtedly know exactly what had happened and scold him for stealing Ebony's forbidden book.

Worry creased her brow at his answer and she glanced at both the spark and the book and then again at Ori. Rec knew little about magic, but she knew that having someone tampering with it could not be good. Especially if it could have caused more then just his fur to change color, what if instead they had injured him? Or worse.....Shivering at the prospect of it she moved a step closer to him before gaining her composure back. If Ori didn't appear to be worried then nothing was too bad, right?
"Well at least you have been unharmed. The spell hasn't caused any other ill effects, and your fur should go back to normal over time correct? I am unsure of how long spells usually last. I assume they wear off over time?

Ori nodded, sounding just a bit unsure at first before regaining his usual confidence as he replied to her, "Yeah...it'll go back. And hey, if it doesn't I can always dye it." He gave a sheepish grin to her then collected up the book of spells and gazed at the spark, "Beside, I'm sure Mamri will have some solution to it if worse comes to worse." Of course, that was his last option. He couldn't have her knowing he had stolen her book unless there was absolutely no other way to fix his coat. And of course...this was all assuming she wouldn't be pissed enough at him to decide it's what he deserved for taking the book in the first place and refused to reverse the spell.
But for now, Ori wasn't really worried about it. Ebony was busy helping Luaith with some big important potion, so he wasn't worried about running into either of his mothers while he was in this condition. And since Rec was here, why should he waste his time worrying when he could busy flirting. So, with that he turned to her, still grinning, and asked, "But it's not that big of a deal right now. I'll worry about it later. For now, let's say you an me go do something, hmm?" Ever the charmer that he was, he gave an added wink to the end of his question shamelessly.

Feeling embarrassed for him she nodded and decided that she might as well try to assure him, in his own style of course. "Well even in your lighter tone you look rather dashing." Blushing bright red she turned her head so he could only see the side of her face, her hair sweeping in front of it so her blush wasn't as noticeable.
Well and that only made her blush harder. Her wings deciding to do a happy little dance at the thought of another date like the last one. To think someone actually noticed and approved of how she acted or looked.......it was a very very nice change. "I wouldn't mind such a thing."

"You think so? I suppose it's better than turning pink or something." Ori grinned widely, far too full of himself to be flustered by such a compliment. He watched her try to hide her blush at his shameless flirting, the glowing grin growing wider. He always got an ego boost when he was able to make a girl blush and Rec was one he seemed to be quite good at flustering. A bit of a chuckle escaped him as her wings danced a bit, moving towards her.
"Fantastic. Have anything in mind? There's lots we could do around here." He would have been happy with just about anything so long as he could continue to be his usual self and flirt with her.

"I'm sure even in pink you could not loose your appeal." Quite honestly Rec didn't even know if she was flirting correctly. To her this was a new trick, one she had only had contact with a few times before she met Ori. And compared to this Master of the art she felt in the dark at how to use words in that way. She never thought she'd need it, and had been told she would never need it. She was supposed to be dedicated to her music, her thoughts focused on passing the test, and her life revolving around caring for those people who asked for her guidance. So going against all she knew Rec smiled sweetly at the male she was.......dating?
"I'm afraid I do not know what one usually does on a umm date." Hoping she wasn't looking at things the wrong way she bit her lower lip quickly and then let go before he could see her slip into her habit.
