"...But you'll see every day that will never turn away... When it seems all your dreams come undone... We will stand my your side, filled with hope and filled with pride... We are more than we are, we are one~..." Amitola sat up on the counter of the music store, kicking his legs while listening to various Disney songs on the sample headphones. He tended to frequent this particular store more than others, for he seemed to have grown an immense love of music. He hummed along to the song he was listening to while flipping through some albums.

While perusing the albums, he came upon a soundtrack from the Disney movie "Tarzan." He popped it into the player and began listening happily. "Son of man, look to the sky... Let your spirit set it free...~" Ami began humming along to this particular song quite joyously. "Tarzan" was one of his favorite movies that he watched often with his older brother.

In short, the chameleon boy was in heaven.

Connie breathed a sigh of relief, having managed t escape the house for some much needed me time – well me time plus Lenore time; but, still, it was better than nothing.

Things in the household had reached boiling point when Lenore had arrived, and Connie had barely managed to bolt out one door (with the little fox-girl in toe), with Hayden, Hunter, Jude and the twins fleeing through the other, before Reed had cracked. Several blocks down the road, even with the music blaring and the windows wound up, she had still heard him ranting. Given time, he’d simmer down, burn himself out, and then it would be safe to go home; until then, the rest of the family would kill time, and bunk down in Hunter’s city apartment if such a thing became necessary. Hopefully, it wouldn’t come to that.

At least their flight had revealed something to Connie – she was in dire need of new music, especially kid-friendly tunes. Reed’s heavy metal just wasn’t going to cut it.

Pushing through the door of the store, Connie smiled, comforted by the racks full of CD’s. She was bound to find something here. At her side, Lenore darted off, blue eyes bright with excitement – she’d never been somewhere like this before, it looked like fun.

“Don’t wander to far, honey” Connie cautioned, watching the young girl briefly before taking the browsing.

And indeed, Lenore didn’t have to wander far, for it wasn’t long before something, rather someone, caught her attention. It, he maybe, was a rather unusually coloured creature, humming along to a tune Lenore couldn’t hear.

Frowning, the fox-girl stepped forward, tapping the other child sharply on the shoulder.

“Share?” she enquired sweetly, batting her eyelids.

As Amitola hummed along happily to the songs, he felt a sharp tapping on his shoulder. He looked over to the person that the tapping came from angrily when he saw a strange looking girl with big ol' eyes and fox ears and a fox tail. She wanted to share? Ami frowned and closed his eyes in thought. Should he be nice and share his music with the weird girl? He should but... girls had cooties. That was the last thing that the chameleon boy wanted. But still, she looked nice. Amitola smiled at her. "Mmkay." He handed her a pair of earphones.

The music continued playing, and Amitola felt very, very uncomfortable. He didn't want any cooties, so he scooted away a reasonable distance from the fox girl. His skin began to turn a bright shade of yellow as he got more uncomfortable and agitated. He saw this and glared at his skin, as if his anger could make the color change subside. Instead, it turned an orange-red hue. Ami frowned and looked at the fox girl. "So, y'like moosic?"

With her hands clasped behind her back, Lenore rocked gently back and forth upon the balls of her feet. Her baby blues openly watched the boy as he frowned, wondering why it was taking him so long to make a decision. Surely it wasn’t that hard? Her Daddy shared his music all the time, but then he usually frowned like the funny coloured child and left the room.

Finally, as Lenore’s leg began to tire from rocking so much, the boy handed her at set of headphones.

“Thankyou” the fox-girl replied with a grin, placing the earphones awkwardly on her furred ears.

As the music involved her senses, Lenore began to dance – shaking her tooshie and pumping her arms, all out of time to the tune. With the song coming to an end, Lenore turned back to the boy, her brow furrowing as the noticed his skin had changed colour. Maybe she could do that too?

Closing her eyes, the girl balled her hands into fist, clenching all the muscles in her body and held her breath, willing herself to change. While she managed to turn her face a bright shade of red for her efforts, the rest of her skin remained unaffected.

Stomping a foot in frustration, Lenore’s gaze shifted back to the rainbow boy as he asked her a question.

Nodding, she replied. “I like this moosic better, Daddy’s is ‘oud and yellie”

“Why you red now, not yellow?” Lenore asked, pointing at Amitola’s skin.

Amitola gave a small, awkward smile to the fox girl as she accepted the headphones and listened to the songs with him. He tried his best to ignore her, but his attention was completely set on her when she began dancing like... a maniac. Ami grimaced and focused on trying to get his skin back to it's normal blue-green hue. As he concentrated on it, though, it only turned a more vibrant shade of red, which angered him greatly.

Out of the corner of his eye, Amitola could see that the fox girl had stopped her dancing nonsense and began clenching her fists and making her face turn red. Ami's own face turned slightly orange in his agitation and he turned to her. "Wh-wha' are you doing?!"

The fox girl posed a question to him and Ami looked down to his still changing skin, which was slowly turning to green. He smiled. "I'm a cha... chamee.. chamele-on, an' they change colors. Tha's why." With that, Amitola went back to listening to his music, as if the fact that a boy could change colors was the simplest concept in the world.

“Tryin’ to change ‘olour too” Lenore replied simply, clenching her fists and screwing up her face again. Unsurprisingly, nothing happened. She remained white, not red, or yellow, or orange or green, just white.

Huffing, the child crossed her arms over her chest, frustrated.

“No fair, I wan’na change ‘olour too” Lenore whined, tail swishing angrily behind her. The boy shouldn’t be able to do something that cool, not when she couldn’t do something that cool. She knew she didn’t look like the boy, but that didn’t mean anything – right? She could still change colour, couldn’t she?

“How you change ‘olour?” the girl asked, the music now forgotten as she dropped the headphones to the floor. “I wan’na be ‘ike a rainbow too!” Lenore continued, sounding increasingly desperate. What good where her ears and tail if they didn’t change colour?

None, Lenore thought, none, none, none, none.
