The Hall of Knighthood was a chamber located directly below the Pinnacle chamber of the Temple Spire in the Jedi Temple.
In the Hall of Knighthood, Padawans were formally raised to the level of Jedi Knight in a ceremony of deeply religious significance. The circular chamber was reminiscent of the Jedi High Council chamber, though the room was darkened during the ceremony. Twelve senior Jedi would ignite their lightsabers, while one proclaimed the ascension of the apprentice, and (if the Padawan was of a hair-growing species) severed their Padawan braid to symbolize the transition. This chamber was also where the status of Jedi Master was formally confirmed. Directly beneath this chamber was another room that was occupied the night before the ceremony by the Padawan who would be ascending in rank. They would spend the night, communing with the Force, and meditating.
Large pillars lined the hallway leading to the circular chamber. On some occasions the Jedi Council would hold the ceremony outside the chamber in this hall, while the Padawan, Knight, or Master, kneeled with their lightsaber placed before them.
