Kremersite didn't really get what the big deal was; the job seemed rather easy, as far as he was concerned, and far less gore-y than he'd envisioned it'd be. Alas, it was still satisfying despite that, and he wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. He'd been 'working' for days (Nights, rather), now, and had successfully retrieved several star seeds without interference from any senshi (granted, he'd lost several others, and he wasn't going to get into just how because when he thought back on it, it was rather embarrassing).

At the end of the day though, Kremersite was teenager. And teenagers tended to get cocky when things went their way; when that happened, teenagers apparently got really dumb too. Or maybe that was just a him thing. Either way, he had decided to tangle with fate and karma by strolling down a deserted, lamp lit street.

Not only was he in plain sight, powered up, but he was going as far as tossing the star seed he'd managed to swipe from a random bystander up and down with one hand. He'd have been juggling it, if it'd been up to him, but his other hand was busy holding a large jack-o-lantern against his side.

So far, ten minutes had passed and no one had seen him. Surely this was the greatest idea. Surely he'd make it back to Hillworth without being seen. Of course.

Yahya probably should have learned that coming home late was no longer a good idea. He had encountered some strange things, and still had no explanation for them. Right now, though, he wasn't thinking about his past incidents. Yahya Grant was tired after a long day of working at the wildlife rescue. The place looked, for all purposes, to shut down at around eight p.m. every night, though that was hardly the case. A lot of people got stuck with shifts that lasted throughout the night, in the case that there was an emergency call, and to take care of the animals that were rather ill.

Yahya was still a student, so he never stayed so late as some of the other people did, but he did stay late enough that by the time he got home he was collapsing down on the couch for a good rest. Normally he would have taken a taxi all the way home, but he thought a block or two of walking would tire his companion out so they could both sleep peacefully.

Columbus was still a young, albeit hyper cat. He was the sort that would run up behind someone's feet and take a swipe at them before darting off to wreak havoc someplace else. He would return in a few minutes to snuggle, but the truth of the matter was that Yahya did not want to be kept up all night by Columbus chewing on his fingers or pouncing on his legs when he moved.

The kitten was walking on a harness (Yahya didn't think it so ridiculous to walk one's cat), strutting on ahead of Yahya with a happy purr. Columbus noticed the teenager walking underneath the light of one of the tall lamps perched periodically down the sidewalk long before Yahya did. The kitten meowed, and as if to hush the feline he scooped him up into his arms and snuggled him briefly.

Huh. Yahya blinked, noticing the teenager belatedly. What was that he was tossing into the air? Never mind that, what was he wearing? Yahya arched a brow curiously, but decided it would be... a little creepy of him to walk up to someone and ask what it was that they had in their possession.

Someone would think he was attempting to mug them, and Yahya was sure that since he had no skills in self-defense, he'd be sent sprawling down onto the sidewalk with a concussion from a blow to his head. That was hardly a pleasant though, and he shuddered a little at it.

It was probably the 'meow' that caught Kremersite's attention; had the cat not opened it's mouth, it was possible the Lieutenant would've never seen Yahya. He swiped the star seed that he'd tossed up in the air and pocketed it before turning his attention to his right; on the opposite end of the street he could make out the silhouette of a Meadowview student, judging from his uniform.

What he could not see, however, was the source of the sound that had initially caught his attention. He was, after all, too far away to see that Yahya had picked up the cat into his arms. The dark was also not playing in his favor, for even under the lamplight he couldn't quite make out the other boy's features. Still, this was an opportunity that Kremersite decided he could not quite pass up.

The setting seemed to be (in his opinion anyhow), perfect. Not only were they alone in a deserted street but... actually, no, that was enough for him. Granted, he wouldn't be able to make any sort of dramatic entrance, but whom was he to ditch an oportunity when it came knocking at his door? This in mind, (and sinister smile in place), Kremersite veered from his path and began walking right towards Yahya, "I wonder if you'll scream loud enough that someone'll hear," he called out to the boy as he approached, "That'd make things interesting."

Dumb, dumb, teenager. He should've charged, snatched the star seed and fled the scene. But then, when did he ever do what he should?

The strangely attired teen turned to look at him, and for some reason Yahya got the impression that this was bad. The smaller man was walking towards him with a purpose, and Yahya didn't feel comfortable with it. Instinctively, he held Columbus closer to his chest. Some people would say that it would be okay to sacrifice a cat for a person's life, but Yahya wasn't like them. Columbus' safety ranked high up there with his own, likely even greater than his own.

The kitten seemed undisturbed by the trouble, instead happily chewing on Yahya's hand. Yahya's suspicions were proving to be correct, this teenager was not good news. Still, Yahya did not have the sense to run. Rather, his feet seemed glued to the ground. Stories of all the missing people, all the people laying unconscious in the hospital played through his mind and he grimaced. He did not want to end up in a similar situation as them.

He was hoping he was just getting mugged. But then, if he was, his mugger would be disappointed enough to actually hurt him (Yahya did not carry a lot on him). "E-excuse me?" Yahya questioned uncertainly, deluding himself with hope that this person was just teasing him. But, that sounded like it would have been too good to be true. "Stay back, please, I'm not comfortable."

That was an understatement, rather the understatement of the century.

This was going to be, without a doubt, as easy as one, two three. At least, that was what Kremersite thought. He figured he wasn't even going to have to use the stupid jack-o-lantern he was still pressing against his side, his arm curled around it. He had to wonder whom was the genius that had come up with the idea of giving him this... thing as a weapon (Because surely Charonite couldn't have come up with THIS); if it'd been up to him, he'd had grabbed a flame thrower, or something a little bit more potent, but apparently, that wasn't the way things worked.

The closer he got, the bigger his feral grin grew, till he looked like a vague imitation of the jack-o-lantern he was carrying, "Oh?" he said as he took the last few remaining steps, purposely breaching the boy's personal bubble, "Maybe I can make you comfortable? Eternally comfortable? How's that sound?" he should have attacked then; he should have finished this off, grabbed the star seed and left the scene, but lord knew he was actually enjoying himself.

The more Yahya squirmed, the more Kremersite enjoyed himself; in fact, it was that squirming that was, for now, saving his life. Had he been any other more experienced Lietenant... the boy would have been dead. Or as good as dead anyhow; Kremersite had a lot to learn.

"I-" whatever he was going to say was cut off as his red gaze landed on... whatever it was that Yahya was holding; it looked furry and it seemed to be moving, even despite the way the boy was clutching it, "What the hell's that?" and thus, further in Kremersite leaned in an attempt to get a clearer picture (and thus detouring himself further from his original purpose; yanking the boy's star seed).

He was pretty lucky Charonite wasn't watching him at that precise moment in time.

Yahya, in comparison to someone who was capable of ripping his soul out of his chest, was as defenseless as a newborn babe. Quite honestly, he had never been confronted with this sort of situation. This strangely clad man did not look like a monster (other than his expression, which was beginning to upset Yahya more than Kremersite's close proximity), and Yahya had certainly dealt with monsters before. Of course... dealing with them had actually meant he had been running for his life. Yahya knew he was nothing compared to that... monster thing. But, against a man who was smaller than him? It was less disturbing, at least.

When Kremersite broke into his personal space, he couldn't help but stumble a step backwards. The teenager was sprouting comments that... Oh god, this couldn't be good. It sounded like this guy wanted to.. t-to kill him. His eyes widened with shock, and hastily he took another step backwards. Columbus was beginning to pick up on his distress, claws curing into Yahya's good shirt. The kitten's purring had stopped, and he was close to meowing his dislike of the situation.

"Wait, just a second..." He replied hurriedly, trying to buy time so he could wrap his head around the situation. In the end, it seemed like Yahya's ploy for time didn't work so much as just having Columbus in his arms did.

Protectively he squeezed the kitten tighter to his chest, orange eyes guarded as Kremersite's attention was distracted by Columbus. "Columbus. My... kitten?" This situation was very, very confusing. Yahya didn't know whether to be scared and run in the opposite direction, or stand his ground because this guy was only playing with him.

Columbus finally felt it was time to meow, in his irritated, I-do-not-like-this way.

The way the taller boy stumbled backwards when he breached his person was amusing, yes, but sadly... his attention had been deviated onto the small bundle of fur that was cuddled in said boy's arms. Thus so, it was not as enjoyed as it could have been.

His eyes narrowed a bit at the first part of Yahya's explanation, but they snapped fully open upon the second part of it, "Cat?" for some odd reason (at least to Yahya, no doubt, and to any onlooker, had there been any), the Lieutenant was entirely thrown off whatever game he'd been playing just upon hearing that word.

Whatever it was that Kremersite was about to say was cut off by the cat's displeased 'meow' of irritation; apparently it did not appreciate the situation it'd been forcefully pushed into. Granted, nor did Kremersite, because now he felt that he couldn't really attack the boy (man, what if he accidentally harmed the kitten in the process?), and he couldn't bring to forcefully retrieve the animal from the teen, which left him in an awkward situation.

He could either wait and hope .... for something to turn the tide in his favor, or turn tail and leave the scene (He really could not believe he was standing there pondering such courses of actions). From Yahya's perspective, the situation must've been amusing; there was no doubt that the tide HAD indeed been shifted in Yahya's favor, but it was probably hard to figure out why or how that had happened.

Yahya was... so confused. He stared blankly at the strangely dressed teen, wondering what the hell had just happened. The situation was still ringing alarm bells in his head, but for some reason... the man's advance had been stopped. Yahya didn't feel the pressing need to run away to safety, mostly because he thought that if he ran away now it would only induce Kremersite into chasing him. Columbus was acting as a safe buffer between them. So long as Yahya was holding the kitten, the stranger did not seem to really want to harm him.

Then again, Yahya was not eager to let the man any closer to his cat. He clutched Columbus tighter to his chest, earning another plaintive 'meow' from the kitten. Columbus was not a young kitten, and would likely reach his adolescent age soon. He had white patches on his nose and feet, even the tip of his tail. The rest of his fur was a striped brown pattern, the fur silky and with some length. He hardly looked like the scrappy kitten Yahya had first seen.

"Yeah... cat," he informed Kremsersite warily, as if not certain that the man had heard him right, or even understood him. "I got him as a kitten from a good... friend," he didn't want to make comment that he and Sue apparently were no longer friends, it would only upset him to the point of tears to think about what had happened, "he was a stray and pretty sick. He's better now... as you can tell. It is a little dark out, so maybe you can't."

For some reason, he was beginning to believe that the more he talked, the less awkward this situation would become, and the safer he would be. As of this moment, Yahya seemed to be safe, but he didn't know how long this would last, or when he really should turn away from the man and try to escape. His home was only a block or so away... But then again, what if he was followed? He didn't want this guy to know what apartment complex he inhabited!

"Cat..." came the repetitive answer as Kremersite's gaze remain focused on the animal, whom still didn't seem all that pleased with the situation, if it's meowing was any sort of hint. Why did it have to be a cat? Couldn't the guy have been holding... a fur coat or something? Then he'd have had double the reasons to both force it down his throat and then yank his starseed.

But no. Of course not. It had to be a cute, adorable kitten and Kremersite wasn't entirely sure how to approach the situation at hand (or if he should just say <******** it all' and leave while he still could dignity unharmed).

"I can see 'im just fine," he said, though the tone of his voice had changed and he now sounded irritated, grumpy, as if he, like the cat, had not appreciated this unpredictable turn of events. Crossing his arms over his chest, he turned his attention back up on Yahya as he spoke, "Good friend, huh? You don't sound too sure about that," a pause followed his words, during which Kremersite's gaze lowered down to the cat in question and then back up at it's owner.

Minutes ticked by, and finally he let out a sigh, "Can I hold 'im?" that was probably the strangest request he could have uttered at that precise moment, no doubt. Another pause; he really didn't want to have to say 'please', and it was obvious from the look he was giving Yahya.
