Two of my friends in real life, started chasing a mother duck and her ducklings today. It made me mad because they had spooked them enough to get disoriented and lose track of their mother. They eventually found her again, but it really irks me when people are mean to animals. Even if its a little kid... What do you think?

Honestly, I'm surprised the mother duck didn't go straight back after your friends. That's what happened to my cousins when he chased around a few little chicks.

But, yeah, people shouldn't be mean to animals. I think I could let children off a little bit, but you know, make sure they know what they did, and tell them not to do it again. Adults should know better, though.

If a kid did it I'd correct them.

But a lot of the time it's teenagers that do it.

I like animals so I don't like when humans are mean to them or kids try to play mean pranks. It's just cruel and it's a form of bullying or since they're animals...animal abuse. >_<
So mean!

PS: Ducks bite right? ^^"

@ Black Angel: I agree. It just tends to bend me out of shape to see anyone chase an animal and especially when the parent doesn't do anything. The mother duck should have gone after the both of them.

@MonkeyFen: I suppose a lot of the time kids don't know better. I guess if you tell them early on that chasing animals is not okay, the listen.

@Moonlight Oh yes, ducks bite and it hurts even if they don't have teeth. I love animals, people don't respect them enough and that's how people get seriously hurt when it comes to larger animals. Small animals are somewhat defenseless against humans and I think animal abusers don't get punished harshly enough. >:/

^_^ I thought so!! I wonder how it hurts though they don't have teeth but now that I think about...wonder how they get that fish down (they eat fish right?).

I agree that people don't get punished enough for animal cruelty. You hear about it a lot and it's so unfair. Someone I knew in school told me her dad got arrested for killing her cat. She likes cat (I'm a cat lover too) and apparently her father hates them. So much that he taped it down and ran it over with their truck. But I think he only got in for a year and was released or something like that she said. Cause I remember she said he did it again to another cat she had.
It's sickening!! evil

*looking up a ducks diet* Ducks eat mainly vegetation and insects. Apparently a tame duck can be fed processed poultry. (cannibalism much?)

Oh, my! That's heartbreaking! (cat lover as well) I dislike dogs out of mere fear of them, but it would never be enough to drive me to kill. Its pure tyranny to attack ones weaker than yourself. I heard someone say that the government should use 'an eye for an eye,' tactic when punishing criminals. I don't exactly agree with that.

Isn't it? When she told me about it I couldn't believe he got out and did it again. If he doens't like cats then don't let her have one in his house and give it to the shelter. Don't do something inhumane you know?
Maybe if they did it a few times (like that guy) and didn't learn they should go to jail for life. That would be best. 3nodding

oh, man... who would willingly run over a cat like that?! gonk
I mean, sure sometimes you accidentally hit one with your car, but seriously... I'd go in a fit of tears over it...

I remember reading somewhere that people who do that sort of thing *like the evil cat killer man* or do worse crimes have a higher chance of doing that to other humans. So, yeah, I agree that laws should be stricter than what they are.

I don't know about the spend their entire lives for killing a bunch of animals. But I do think the laws should be strengthened up. Give them about 3-4 years instead of one.
