Setting
Sunset.
Outside the Raad household within the Noble Estates.
Nilgün awaits the arrival of Cais, though when he shows up things do not go as planned.

It had been a long, long while since the Persian had been back to the home of her parents. Outwardly, things appeared the same. In the past fourteen years, not much had changed. This fact would be a comfort to some, yet the girl couldn’t help but feel a bit taken back by that fact. Why hadn’t her mother and father bothered to change anything? You would have thought they would have. Then again…maybe they just wanted to keep things the same as much as possible. That way they would always be reminded of the time they had spent there with their little girl all those years ago. Well, despite the fact that her home hadn’t changed, she certainly had, and for the better; not the worse, as she was sure her parents felt.

As she waited, Nilgün couldn’t help but fidget nervously. She was taking a chance by telling the Noble boy to meet her there that evening – a big, huge chance. One small mix-up, one little mistake, and it would be all over. Not only would her cover be blown as a Legionnaire, but her parents would be aware of her presence at their home as well. This was the exact thing that her grandparents tried with all of their power to keep the girl away from. Oh, if they only knew she was there! A million different scenarios flashed through her mind of things they would do to her and none of them pretty. The warrior in-training shuddered at the thought. If there was anything she learned, it was to never make her grandparents angry.

Sunset.

The giant fiery orb was beginning to dip down into the horizon, and that could only mean one thing: Cais would be arriving soon.

Good. The faster the glass blower’s son got there, the better. That way she could grab him by the arm, tug him off, and lead him away from her home. She would go just as fast as she had come, and then none would be the wiser.

Or, at least, that’s what Nil had intended.

Warm rays of light hit the back of Cais's head as he hurriedly traversed the streets of the city towards the Nobles' Estates. Anticipation coursed through his veins while his heartbeat moved in turn with the thumping of his running feet. At this point he was hurrying, trying to beat the sun. He cursed under his breath as he passed by another row of luxurious homes. Why of all days did his father have to ask his assistance on a custom project? Foolishly under the assumption that the piece in question was a vase or smart art piece he had agreed.

Four hours and 30 individual pieces later, they had barely completed the ornamental ceiling piece before he realized the time of day. Rushing out of the workshop he heard his father call to him, but only managed a, "I'll be back later this evening!" in response.

Slowing to a walking pace, he glanced at the houses nearby. He was close now, time to put on his game face. Taking a hand, he gently wiped away the hair trapping his face and fixed the hat sitting gently on his hands. Stretching out he regained a calm exterior before finally laying eyes on the light skinned Lunarian girl. Instantly his eyes lightened as his stature perked. Tonight was going to be different indeed, approaching her he put on his best "man face" and cleared his throat. "Hey Nilgün!" He called to her, approaching slowly. "Sorry I'm a little late."

Her heart gave a few quick beats in her chest when Cais called out to her. Good! He was here, and what a relief it was! She had been so worried about someone finding her - someone opening the door and peering out at her, that she had become a bundle of nerves. Well, the Persian had nothing to worry about now. The Noble boy was here, and they could be on their way. Forget that he was a little bit late, even. To be perfectly honest, the girl didn't even notice. There was too much on her mind to pick up things like that, and even if she had, she wouldn't have been upset about it. The Vietnamese Lunarian meant well, and she knew that.

"It's all right, Cais," she told him in a smooth, melodic voice. If there was any time for her to be feigning calmness, it was right now. She had to fake it to mask over the aura of nervous jitters she got just by being back in her old neighborhood. If anyone saw her or if anyone caught her, well...it wouldn't end well at all. "I'd invite you inside, but..." Her voice trailed off as she tried to think. Think, Nil; think! She had to come up with a good reason as to why she couldn't bring him inside. "The house is a mess, and my parents would probably be taken back to have a visitor when I didn't tell them that anyone was coming."

Phew. Nice save. She just prayed that he believed her.

Wanting to get the heck out of there as fast as she could, the light blue girl flicked her wrist and motioned for Cais to follow. She was going to show him around all of the old places she used to hang out as a child. The special places where she had fond memories stored in the back of her mind: underneath the opened window just outside the temple where she used to sit to listen to the prayers, near the bakery where the baker would let her have free sweets every so often. All of these places were wonderful to her, and while she missed visiting them dearly, she knew that the boy would enjoy them as a welcomed treat away from the glass shop.

Just as she was about to walk off, however, she stopped dead in her tracks. A sound hit her fins, and it made her stomach drop.

The door to her home opened, and from it, an elegant Lunarian woman poked her head out.

"Nilgün? Nilgün, is that you?"

Damn it -- she was in trouble now!

Cais smiled to see her and drew closer as she flicked her wrist. "It's understandable, I know how parents can be." He said, moving closer to her. Even in the fading light of the dusk hour he was stopped, stunned by her beauty once again. It was true that he had been expecting this, but it still stalled his mind to realize how truly easy she could stop everything else around them. Moving to keep pace with her the two began to walk away when the voice from behind them called out.

Turning back, Cais stood with his shoulders back. This was what he had been more anxious about; meeting the parents. Wiping away the sweat from his palms he could see the visage of an older, elegant Lunarian peeking out from near the household. With the knot in his stomach pulling ever tighter, he let out a small gasp of air (which he attempted to make inaudible). Though not quite sure how to react, he was going to make a good first impression. Wildly, his eyes glanced towards the silent Nilgün. Would it be rude to answer without her? Cais thought so.

Now he would finally meet the Raad family in person after hearing so much about them from his father. Sticking to the advice, little as it was, of his well-liked father he was going to be as polite as any young man and stick to what his father had called "safe topics". Though the entire list had droned out Cais's attention span, he remembered two things; Don't bring up politics or business matters. Inside his mind fidgeted, repeating those words of advice. Though, what would happen if he wasn't the one to bring those up?

Now there was only to wait for Nilgün to react.

The older, more mature Lunarian woman seemed quite pleased to see the two teenagers before her. The younger girl, on the other hand, did not seem to reciprocate such feelings. A bright beam of a smile spread across the face of the girl’s mom almost instantly. Her daughter’s expression differed immensely to counter that. The happy grin was met with a stoic look of blasé. Outwardly, the fighter tried to appear as if she didn’t feel one way or the other about being face-to-face with her mother. Her inward feelings, however -- those were another story entirely.

Zuleika Raad was a regal woman, and just by looking at her one could see that Nilgün got quite a few of her physical features from her. For one, both of them had pink hued locks. While the younger of the two had a playful, bubble-gum pink color, the elder’s was a darker shade, perhaps somewhere along the lines of French rose. The two of them also shared the same, coal-like color eyes. Those were the main things. Their skin tones differed quite a bit: the priestess’ being a soft pastel pink, while the warrior in-training inherited her father’s blue-ish skin tone. Nevertheless, the two were obviously mother and daughter. There was no doubt about that.

”I see you’ve brought a friend,” Zuleika began quietly, her hands poised in front of her in a calm, relaxed manner. ”Wonderful! Come on inside, won’t you? I’ve just made some refreshments,” At this, the woman’s eyes flickered to Cais. Another smile showed up when she looked at him, and it was clear that she was glad to have him in her company. It was because of the young boy, to be perfectly honest, that she was able to see her daughter at all. She’d have to thank him later on. The Noble boy had no idea how much he was helping her out. Yet she wasn’t the only one who would be pleased out of this whole situation; her husband would be happy as well, if not even more grateful to the youngest male in the Trinh family.

Inwardly, the Persian teen couldn’t help but curse herself and her bad luck. Damn it! Leave it to her mother to mention refreshments and woo her friend over that way. If there was anything growing Lunarian boys enjoyed the most, it was free food. Especially when served by an enchanting woman like her mother. What could she say to all of that? She couldn’t exactly go and tell the young glassblower that, no, they wouldn’t be staying for refreshments. It would look not only rude, but also extremely disrespectful on her part. At the same time, she definitely didn’t want to be staying either. That would only mean a mess of things for her personal life later on in the days to come. After sighing and running a hand through her hair, the blue-scaled girl had to relent. She then motioned for Cais to follow her mother on inside the house, knowing that every step the two of them would take would lead her closer and closer to a bad situation.

Oblivious to the aura of tension surrounded him, Cais watched as the graceful Lunarian woman elegantly approached their position. Out of his peripheral vision he swore he could see Nil tense up, her jaw suddenly showing a roughness to her face, though his attention was instantly averted elsewhere.

Hearing the word "refreshments" perked his attention, falling into the age old trap of someone "getting to him through his stomach". (Though in defense, he HAD missed the family dinner for the more important engagement...) Doting over this fact in his head, he felt his palms began to sweat but subsided quickly. Nilgün's mother had a demeanor which calmed his enthusiasm yet still left him smiling at the pending offer. Looking her over with his eyes, he could easily see where Nilgün received some of her most prominent features. Enchanted, he rolled out of the calm silence of staring slower than usual, but took to pleasantries immediately. Bowing his head to her politely, he replied, "I would love to visit your home. Thank you." Closing his eyes momentarily he grinned back over to Nilgün before opening them again.

Taking notice of her motioning in haste, Cais moved ahead to follow the graceful Lunarian woman forward into the safety of the Raad family home. This is where he wanted to be. He wanted to know more about Nilgun, more about the Raad family and perhaps even gain some trust from her parents. Though the plan was half-baked, it started with entering the luxurious manor. This was only step one.
