This is a list of force powers and how each one works. Each has limits on it and some vary depending on the user. All techniques were retrieved from wookiepedia, and not all are listed here.
Force Push This is one of the most basic Force Powers where by, as the name implies, the Force is used to push objects and/or beings. It is used by focusing on the target, often indicated by hand gestures, and moving the "Force Aura" emitted from all objects. For learners, this often requires a large amount concentration even to move the smallest of objects. However, it becomes more natural with experience. This is a progressive Force move, allowing for higher ranking characters to move larger objects, ranging from a pebble for a Padawan, all the way to fighter craft for Masters.
F o r c e P u l l This move is similar to that of Force Push, except with the obvious difference of dragging an item towards the user, rather than pushing it away. Again, this is a progressive Force Power, the effectiveness improving with higher ranked characters.
S a b e r T h r o w This ability utilizes both Force Pull and Force Push to hurtle the user's saber(s) towards a target. Though a deadly move, this often leaves the users defenseless, being disarmed, as well as concentrating on the control of the saber. Due to this, teaching of this move is not allowed until a Jedi has reached the rank of Jedi Knight. Distance, accuracy and the complexity in which a saber can be controlled while using Saber Throw also increases as a user's rank increases. While Knights may only be able to throw their saber as they normally would, being able to draw it back to themselves, Masters of the Force can sometimes fight entire matches without touching their saber.
F o r c e J u m p This move also uses a mixture of both Force Push and Force Pull to lunge a user high into the air by moving the "Force Aura" they emit. Trained Padawans have the ability to Force Jump only several meters into the air, this increases as their rank improves. Jedi Masters, with enough concentration, can leap skyscrapers when needed.
F o r c e S p e e d This Force Power uses the Force to increase one's combat speed. Attacks with a lightsaber, the speed in which the user can run, as well as their reaction time improve with the use of this ability, however, the time taken to use a Force Power does not. For lower ranking characters, much concentration is needed to execute this ability, therefore making it almost useless in any situation until they progress through the ranks. A Padawan's speed may only increase a minute amount as well. A Knight or Guardian can use the command with only seconds of preparation, increasing their speed up to twice what it normally would be. A Jedi Master could perform Force Speed almost instantaneously, speeding themselves up three fold. The drawback to this ability is that it can tire the user quickly as it is a massive drain on their stamina and should therefore be only used for a quick and certain resolution to a fight.
F o r c e P r o j e c t i o n Force Projection, though seemly simple, in a surprisingly difficult ability to learn, which is why it is left until a Jedi has passed the learning stage. The Force is used to either; create a noise to distract a target somewhere far away, or, as Guardians or Masters can do, create a distraction directly into the mind of a target. If used in the right situations, it can be extremely effective in avoid conflict, or to produce an opening for an attack.
F o r c e C o n c e a l m e n t This Force Power allows the user to suppress the connection for the Force that other Force Users can sense. This too is left until the later stages of a Jedi's life because it can quite easily be abused. Guardians can only suppress their connection to the Force a small amount, just enough so they can deceive people of their actual connection to the Force, but not removing their trace of the Force all together. Masters can completely remove all connection to the Force so they seem as any other galactic civilian would to a Force User.
A l t e r E n v i r o n m e n t Alter Environment was a Force power that involved various techniques that allowed the user to manipulate nature, enabling the creation of phenomena such as Force whirlwinds or fog that could be used to attack or to shield the user from opponents. Plo Koon further modified this ability with his considerable knowledge of physics. Alter Environment could be used to manipulate temperatures, creating freezing sub-zero temperatures in seconds, or blistering heat that could burn. With this ability, a user could generate electrical discharges over broad expanses of ground, vacate areas of air, or increase the pressure of the air to burst eardrums. The power allowed a Force-adept to form small earthquakes and fissures or gather the moisture in the air to bring about flash floods. Moreover, Alter Environment could influence already existing natural occurrences. For instance, a thunderstorm could be manipulated to unleash a burst of lightning, rain clouds to start up torrential rains, or cause the sky to hail. Windswept seas could be coaxed to rear up in massive waves or form whirlpools. This ability utilized the innate Force energy, or life force, of the object being manipulated instead of the Force energy of the user. In other words, when a Jedi used this power, he would use a small amount of his own power to harness the innate power already present. This could lead to the formation of killer waves and lightning storms with minimum effort and concentration, and depending on the amount of energy expended, little stamina. A greater knowledge in physics would result in more precise control, and a larger range of methods this power could be used, as well as improve the time it took to enact. However, a being would need to monitor the effects in order to keep them from spreading to disastrous consequences.
B e a s t T r i c k Animal Friendship, also referred to as Beast Control or Beast Trick, was the Force ability to calm an animal. Once calmed, the animal would be tamed enough to be ridden or to simply remain calm.
B a t t l e P r e c o g n i t i o n The ability of foresight was perhaps universal to the Jedi or Force-sensitives and was manifested in the form of Force Visions of future events, or helped the Jedi predict his opponent's movements. Carnor Jax trained in the art. Plo Koon's former Master, Tyvokka was known to have advanced precognition powers.
F o r c e C o m b u s t i o n (restricted to Jedi Master and Sith Lord) Combustion was the Force ability that allowed users to cause an object explode by sheer force of will. It was rarely used on a person, and the effects on inanimate objects and persons was devastating. Depending on the size, density and vulnerability of the object in question, combustion would become harder or easier to use successfully. It is disputed whether combustion could be prevented and stopped if another force user concentrated on an object to prevent it from exploding. This may have canceled it out, or it may have done nothing. Yarael Poof was known to use this power. This may have been the power Irek Ismaren used to burn through stone. Darth Zannah may have used this power to make Darovit's hand explode.
B a t t l e M e d i t a t i o n Battle meditation was a Force ability which considerably boosted the morale, stamina, and overall battle prowess of an individual's allies while simultaneously reducing the opposition's combat-effectiveness by eroding their will to fight. With the Force, one could coordinate entire fleets of ships, allowing them to perform at maximum efficiency, acting as a single entity with the ability to counter every enemy move quickly and effectively. Though ideal for meditating large-scale conflicts, battle meditation was equally effective when employed for the benefit of one's comrades in small skirmishes, attacks, and duels.
B r e a t h C o n t r o l Using the Force power, breath control, a Jedi could literally numb the body's instinct to shut itself down after long periods without oxygen, allowing the user to be able to go without breathing for longer periods than he or she ordinarily could by using the Force to reserve the amounts of air in the lungs. It was believed that some users of the technique could hold their breath for hours or even days with this power. This ability used independently, however, would not prevent anything entering or leaving the respiratory system of the user. In some cases, the user would require some kind of Force barrier in, or around the nose/throat region to keep poisonous gases or water out. The necessity of such a barrier would depend on the air/water pressure in the direct vicinity, and the user's ability to naturally seal their airways. This was a very effective ability in situations where the air was very thin, underwater, or in any environment with toxic fumes.
C o m p r e h e n d S p e e c h Comprehend Speech is a Force ability that enables a Jedi to understand the spoken language of any sentient he/she is interacting with, though it does not necessarily allow him/her to speak it, merely understand the general meaning. It is possibly an extension of the Telepathy power, as Revan was described as "ripping the Rakatan language from their minds," comprehending their tongue only moments after meeting them. Obi-Wan Kenobi also demonstrated this ability on Nelvaan, having been able to understand and translate the speech of a Nelvaanian shaman Orvos, though some of the nuances of the speech evaded him. This power proved ineffective at comprending the language of extremely xenophobic cultures, as evidenced by Revan's inability to understand the Sand People dialect. It can be guessed that cultures that actively refuse contact with other cultures, such as not caring whether a particular individual can communicate with them or not, can negate this ability. Use of the ability is aided if the sentient itself is Force-sensitive to some degree, as demonstrated when Luke Skywalker encountered the Qom Jha on Nirauan, and found he understood their language without making an attempt to interpret it.
F o r c e B e l l o w Force bellow was a power in which the user would amplify their voice using the Force. The insane Jedi Master Joruus C'baoth used this power while on board Grand Admiral Thrawn's command ship, the Chimaera. C'baoth usually startled Gilad Pellaeon, the captain of the ship, as he entered the bridge bellowing Thrawn's name. Ithorian Jedi were capable of using this power as well, amplifying their voices to immense proportions to destroy obstructions. The Ithorian Jedi Roron Corobb was one who used this technique in combat during the Clone Wars.
F o r c e C o m p r e h e n s i o n Force Comprehension was the ability to absorb and interpret great quantities of information rapidly by speeding up the user's neural processes. Force Comprehension required that the user possess at least a basic knowledge of the topic he was comprehending. Without this knowledge the user would simply speed up his neural processes and exhaust himself. Many Force users were wary of this ability, since on occasion knowledge learned at such a fast pace elicited strong emotions in the user. Therefore, the technique was not commonly used by the Jedi. Force comprehension found little favor with the Sith as well, simply because they don't have to worry for the strong emotions. For these reasons, Force comprehension was considered to be a universal power.
F o r c e D e f l e c t i o n Force Deflection was a Force power used by Jedi and Sith who were without a lightsaber, or chose not to carry one. It is unknown exactly if the Jedi and Sith merely created a wall using the Force to deflect blaster bolts and Force Powers, or if they actually deflected them back with their hand. It took much skill in the Force to use this, however, and most Jedi used their lightsabers instead to deflect incoming attacks.
F o r c e F l i g h t Force Flight was a Force power that enabled the user to telekinectically move themselves toward a specific destination, taking levitation (see above) to an extreme degree. To use this Force power took a great deal of concentration.

F o r c e H e a l Due to the complexity of this move, learning is strictly limited to Masters of the Force. By using the Force to influence the midi-chlorians within the body, Force Heal can be used to so cure minor cuts or wounds, neutralize weak poisons as well as temporarily numbing the pain of more serious injuries. This ability is rarely used in combat as much concentration is required, even more the most experienced users. For new learning to this power, large amounts of Meditation are needed for even the slightest of injury. It is normally used if there are no other, more efficient means of medication available.
A f f e c t M i n d Due to how easily this Force power can be manipulated for selfish purposes, it is limited to only those who have passed the learning stage and have become fully fledged Jedi. Through the Force, and user can trick a target into performing tasks that they would otherwise not do. Though not requiring too much concentration to use when fully mastered, it is often used outside of combat, due to it impracticality in dangerous situations. The largest drawback to this power is that it does not work on the strong minded, such as other Force Users, as well as certain races within the galaxy.
F o r c e B l i n d i n g Force Blinding was a telekinetic light side Force power. Upon use of this technique, a blinding flash of energy emanated from a user's hand, manifesting as a flash of light that overloaded a target's vision, causing temporary blindness. A powerful tool of the light side, a Jedi could obfuscate an opponent's sight, making it difficult for the adversary to spot and attack the Jedi or anyone else. However, a trained Force-sensitive who had prepared himself could defend against this technique by using Force Sight. Still, if the Jedi could blind an unprepared enemy before they reached out with Force Sight, the blind could still be effective. Although it was classically a light side power, both the Dark Jedi Yun and the Force apparition Dark Mara were able to use it.
F o r c e L i g h t (Restricted to Jedi Masters) Force light was an immense light-side Force power used by Jedi. When used against a darksider, Force light would weaken the darksider's connection to the Force. With the light of the Force, a Jedi could either purge or contain dark side manifestations or nexus points, whether in places, spirits, or even living persons, though sometimes to detrimental effect. By channeling the Force into withering blasts of light-side energy, the darkness can then be diminished or destroyed permanently. Force light could also be used to sever the bond between a Sith battlelord and his or her followers.
W a l l o f L i g h t (Restricted to Council Members) A Wall of light was an immense Force power used by Jedi. Though similar to the Jedi ability Force Light, this ability was unique in that it required the collective focus of multiple Jedi, simultaneously channeling their Force power into a single, devastating attack. Using the light side of the Force, the group of Jedi could create a wall of light side energy, that effectively traps the dark side spirit or taint within a specific location. When used against an individual, the power was similar to blocking one's connection to the Force, and could either be a temporary confinement or a permanent blockage. This ability required a great concentration of light side power, as it could have potentially deleterious results.
P r o t e c t i o n B u b b l e A Protection Bubble, bubble of safety,[1] was a Force power, probably related to Force Protection. With this ability, the user could create a defensive sphere around their body. It is described as a shimmering blue globe of energy. It could protect the user from a wide range of attacks, deflect laser blasts, defend against lightsabers, vacuums and even inflict certain amounts of damage upon contact with the enemy. Protection bubbles can also be used offensively. Should the user surround the attacker in a Protection bubble, it is possible the attacker will become a victim of their own attack, having been trapped within its destructive radius. Due to the extreme concentration of needed to sustain the bubble however, the user would have to be momentarily immobile in order to enact the bubble, and sometimes, completely stationary in order to sustain it. In a creative and desperate display, the Ithorian Jedi Master Worror used a Protection bubble to subdue Darth Bane during the last moments of their duel on Tython. Worror trapped both he and Bane within the bubble to protect Johun Othone from the Dark Lord's barrage of Force lightning. The lightning however was not strong enough to penetrate the bubble; instead of reaching its intended target (Othone), it ricocheted against the inner surface of the bubble, killing Worror and grievously electrocuting Darth Bane. Cin Drallig used this power to protect himself while he meditated and healed during his duel with Darth Vader in the Jedi Temple.[4] Sith Lord Darth Azard was skilled in the use of this technique, using it to protect himself from an explosion and a fall after his duel with Imperial Master Treis Sinde.[3] Sinde himself employed a protection bubble while assisting Mon Calamari refugees on Dac.[5]
F o r c e S t u n (And its Advanced Versions Force Stun was a Force power that could temporarily deaden the senses and perceptions of a targeted enemy. It was often used when a Jedi faced a large number of opponents or if they wished to disable an enemy long enough to flee from or apprehend them. To use the power, the Jedi would use the Force to induce them into a catatonic state. Beings or creatures with a high degree of willpower could resist the effects of this power. In addition, it was ineffective against droids and other inorganic beings. Although it was only used against a single enemy, the Jedi Master and famed Guardian Kavar, a known practitioner of this power, was able to stun multiple targets simultaneously.
Force Stasis was a more potent version of Force Stun. The Jedi would use the Force to deaden the senses of an enemy, inducing a near-catatonic state and in effect freezing that person or being in place. This power was very useful when the Force-user was stuck in tight spots against a superior number of foes.
Stasis Field was the highest level of Force Stun. Often learned and practiced by higher-level Jedi Knights and Masters, this power allowed the Force-user to put multiple enemies into brief, non-harmful catatonic states at one time, allowing for quick escapes or to avoid protracted confrontations against seemingly overwhelming numbers. This power could also be used to avoid combat entirely, if the wielder wished to apprehend or sneak by opponents put into stasis.
F o r c e V a l o r Force Valor was a light side Force power that increased the resolve, accuracy, and speed of one's self and one's allies. Tapping into the Force, a Jedi could increase the rate at which one's capacities functioned, allowing the body to move more quickly, strike more powerfully, and fight with improved accuracy. The more wise, charismatic, and skilled the caster was, the more profound the effects of Force Valor were. Yoda used this ability to overcome the infirmities of old age, which was quite necessary for a practitioner of Form IV lightsaber combat.
R e v i t a l i z e (Reserved for Jedi Masters) Revitalize was a light side Force technique that revitalized an exhausted, wounded user, unconscious, and/or whoever the user directed it at. Being a Force-based power, it did not work on non-organics such as droids.

F o r c e D r a i n The use of this Force Power is strictly forbidden by the Jedi, as it often used by "Rogue" or "Dark" Force Users. By tapping into a target through the Force, the user can draw small amounts of stamina out which are flooded into the user for regeneration. This move rarely kills a target and is more often used to tire an opponent or as torture, rather than to actually do damage. For the most part, the effects of this move are extremely limited, except when used by a well trained Force User, such as a Master. Learners are never taught this move as it can be seen as an excuse not to advance one's training in other areas because they feel any loss can be recovered by Force Drain.
F o r c e C h o k e Force Choke is a Force power fueled by anger and mistrust. It consists of manipulating the Force Aura round a specific part of the body, normally the throat, and tightening it. As the name suggests, it is used to choke enemies, however, it can be used to restrain enemies, but without causing any damage to them. This move is generally only effective outside of combat situations, as a great deal of concentration is needed to locate specific parts of the body, especially smaller parts like the neck.
F o r c e L i g h t n i n g Force Lightning is one of the most recognizable Dark Side Force powers. It is used by using pent-up rage, over both long and short time periods, then releasing it in the form of blue electrical energy from the finger tips. For lower ranked characters, it is only released as a small zap, at most numbing certain limbs of the target for a few seconds. As the ranks progress, the power also increased, eventually being able to burn the organs of enemies. In some cases, the Dark Lord of the Sith can use this power to such a extent that they can create Force "Storms" to strike, and quite likely kill, multiple targets at once.
D e a d l y S i g h t Deadly Sight was a power of the dark side, focusing the user's hatred into deadly energy. With it, Dark Jedi could inflict pain and injury upon their foes merely by looking at them, causing victim's body to burn and smoke as they died. With this power, the user could damage entire groups of foes within their field of vision. Tiring to sustain, it was inefficient in terms of the strain caused on the user's Force reserves, but was nevertheless effective in the right situation. It should be noted that Deadly Sight injured everyone that the user looked at, including allies and civilians; it is unknown whether or not it could be refined, especially because of its dark nature.
D r a i n K n o w l e d g e Drain Knowledge was a dark side ability used to extract knowledge out of a sentient without his or her consent. Beyond simple reading of thoughts, the Drain Knowledge ability disrupted the Force to steal deep memories and information in a violent and merciless way. Such a process might damage the subject psychologically.
F o r c e D e s t r u c t i o n Force Destruction was a dark side Force power used by certain gifted Sith and Dark Jedi, allowing them to create a massive energy field and throw it in any direction. When used, a massive amount of energy was stored up within the user, drawn from the dark side of the Force, and with incredible concentration, the energy could be discharged using the user's own body as a conduit. Usually fired through the arm or hand, it could blast a large radius vaporizing anyone who got too near it. Even those who escaped direct contact with the blast would be pushed asunder by the power's backlash.[1] Using Force Destruction was a very exhausting power requiring a great deal of focus and concentration and could only be used a few times without requiring the user to rest. Jerec was the most famous person to have used this ability, applying it against Kyle Katarn in the Valley of the Jedi. Boc Aseca was also known to have used this Force power.
F o r c e D r a i n Force drain referred to a spectrum of offensive and defensive Force powers, tied to the same concept, which used the dark side of the Force to tap into the strengths of an organic target. Mastery of each technique could scale the area of effect, sometimes dramatically, or exhaust the victims almost instantaneously.
F o r c e F e a r Force fear was a dark side Force power and possibly a dark side variant on the Jedi mind trick, used around 4,000 BBY by Sith and Jedi with dark side tendencies. The wielder would strike directly at the deepest parts of the target's mind, causing an uncontrollable shaking fear that would wreak havoc with the target's capabilities. Through pure force of will alone, a user could cause them to lose their courage completely, and if left undefended, the effects could be severe, rapidly demoralizing the enemy with a feeling of hopelessness and regret. Depending on the victim, it would caused them to either cower defenselessly or flee from their opponent outright. Force Fear is classified as a Dark Side power due to the fact that fear is an emotion of the Dark Side. However, as with many powers, it's the intent behind its use that counts, and Jedi would sometimes use it to defuse a potential dangerous situation. For instance, Luke Skywalker using this power on the animal denizens of lower Coruscant to protect himself and his companions during the Corellian crisis. He opts to jolt the animal's minds with fear since he is faced with a large pack and fear is the most readily recognizable emotion available. He does this to preserve everyone's life however.
Force fear had two advanced variants, Force horror and Force insanity. Force horror enabled the Force user to cause multiple enemies to enter into a catatonic state of panic that was more severe and more difficult to defend than the basic Force fear. In similarity, Force insanity also enabled the Force user to affect multiple enemies at once, although to an even greater range than its predecessor. As the most advanced form of Force fear, its effect was much more devastating, with the victims possibly descending into an utter state of frenzied madness and deranged mania as their situation seemed to suddenly become hopeless. edit Force projection
F o r c e C o r r u p t i o n Force corrupt or Force corruption was a dark side ability that could temporarily manipulate the minds of other sentient beings and make them serve one's own cause. During the Galactic Civil War, it was sometimes employed by the Force users of the Galactic Empire, possibly including Mara Jade and Palpatine himself, taking control of enemy soldiers and making them serve the cause of the Empire by attacking other enemy units.
Force corrupt is possibly a dark side variant of the Jedi mind trick, wherein the Force-user employs similar principles, but to influence the target for violent purposes rather than deceiving them.
F o r c e W i n d An ancient Sith technique. This power would allow the Force user to manipulate and channel air currents to form a powerful and destructive tornado that could lift up targets and fling them about.[8]
F o r c e S c r e a m If a Dark Jedi was being beaten and frustrated by his foe, he might let out an enraged scream (amplified through the Force) that triggered shock waves that rippled through the Force. This caused devastation to any that were unfortunate enough to be in close proximity. Like many dark side force powers, it allowed the user to use powerful negative emotions as a weapon, albeit involuntarily in this case. The Force scream has been called “a wave of hatred, amplified and fueled by the dark side, that is capable of smashing through mental and physical defenses with ease.” A number of references to Dark Jedi in Old Republic archives often mentioned the Dark Jedi violently losing control in the final moments of battle.
F o r c e C r u s h Possibly the most violent Force ability known to the Sith and the Jedi, this deadly technique lifted the opponent into the air and, as they were floating, their body would implode as it was crushed by the Force. Common among followers of the dark side, by 3,951 BBY many Force users could use the ability. During the latter part of the Clone Wars, Mace Windu used Force Crush on General Grievous as Grievous was attempting to transfer his captive Palpatine to the Invisible Hand, thus crushing one of the few organs he had left: his lungs. This was in part responsible for his constant choking and coughing throughout the rest of his life. Though his lungs could have been repaired with surgery, he didn't live long enough to get it. Darth Vader, who would not hesitate to use Force Crush and similar techniques on Imperial personnel that he deemed incompetent, was capable of crushing small vehicles on the battlefield. Even during the end of the Clone Wars, Anakin displayed this power on Nelvaan when he used it to break the Techno Union scientist before his attempt to escape.
K i n e t i t e Kinetite was a sphere of restrained kinetic energy which could be thrown at an enemy. The ball was fist-sized and could batter down most obstacles in its path. Some Sith Masters had been known to flatten ferrocrete bunkers with kinetite.[source?] Nevertheless, if the target of the kinetite employed the Force defensively, the kinetite could be easily deflected back to its owner.
S p e a r o f M i d n i g h t B l a c k The spear of midnight black was an ancient dark side Force power. It enabled the Force-user to summon the Force and forge with it an invisible spear from dark side energies which could be hurled at opponents, killing or injuring them as if it were a real, physical spear.
