Rivener sighed in frustration and slapped his hands back onto his forearms, glaring at the seat for a second before turning his gaze out the window. He tried keeping his arms crossed but, like some strange magnetic pull he couldn't deny, one of his fingers slipped free and crawled up towards his shoulder, gripping at the tightly-bound fabric and tugging lightly, scratching.

"Gah!" Riv exclaimed under his breath, flinching from the mild pain. "Are we going to be there soon, dammit?! This is getting ridiculous!"

Of course the cabbie had nothing to answer to that. He just blinked into the rear-view mirror and gulped, hoping the weird-looking half-body wasn't about to reach over the seat and strangle him. Something Riv looked like he was seriously considering, if this guy didn't put the pedal to the metal and get him to the damned lab NOW.

If Rivener had noticed he was out of wrappings BEFORE he took his shower, things would have been very different. He would not be fidgeting in his seat uncomfortably, his temper flaring as his wings twitched from the chafing bindings. The twitches sent small pangs of ache through the healing limbs, and the resulting discomfort was fraying on Rivener's last nerves. They better get there soon!

As the irate Sigel thought this, the car turned down a familiar block and Rivener spotted the building not far away. "OH thank god," he sighed, plastering himself to the window and hardly waiting for the car to come to a full stop before he bolted from it in the parking lot. He only barely remembered to throw a handful of 5's into the passenger seat beside the driver, dashing off a moment later.

Being here on his own wasn't really going to do much good; he'd need to wait for Aphi to re-do the bandages at home, but he could get a head start on fetching the damned things. If only he knew that they could use bandages from a store... But the Scorpion wasn't sure they weren't needing specialized Raevan-bandages or something, so he'd made the trip. Like a man with a purpose Rivener entered the lab, steady red gaze focusing on the person behind the counter-... A strangely-colored hairstyle he found very familiar indeed. "YOU!" He barked, frowning in determination and floating a little closer. "I need bandages, like these. Zack? Zeke? Zeck? ...ZEKE. Right? Bandages, please. HURRY. It itches like ******** crazy." Proving his point, the Scorpion clenched his eyes shut and bared his fangs, curling down as he gave in and reached behind a shoulder, scratching and scraping against the wing and to hell with the pain!

An entire day had passed and Zeke's face still reflected his disbelief. It wasn't the fact he had a car, no no, it was the fact the car was an Aston Martin and that Brad had just given it to him with a smile and a kiss on the lips. There was no room for argument but dammit he had tried to, only to be met with more affection that shut him up good. For now, and 'now' had since passed. The current 'now' had Zeke staring blankly out the Lab's front windows, head resting in his palm and totally not seeing what he was looking at.

Anastacia didn't get it. It was sleek, it was shiny, it was far superior than the cars she had seen parked in the apartment lot and on the street. Brad had said Zeke needed it, for both himself and her, and the older man had given it over without another word past the phrase "she's all yours" and hadn't taken any guff from Zeke; word, half chewed sound, or otherwise. Her guardian's face since then and near robotic, lost in thought motions were perplexing to the two day old Frei and since then she took to watching him from afar, vaguely amused as he would trip over himself or that cat-thing at home, though studying him all the same. She saw it as a good thing. It was Zeke's, and since Zeke was hers by extension the car was hers too. Like her mirror, she liked this thing, but what she didn't like at present was being back at the Lab.

Zul had said she would go "home" and home she went, but now they were back. Zeke had told her he wasn't dropping her off to stay, but instead that he had a job at this place, so she'd have to get used to coming back here twice a week and maybe sometimes more. She didn't like it, but she had no other choice in the matter. In compensation though, Zeke had opened the door behind the receptionist's desk that led into Alex's office, saying the spider femme could go in there if she so wanted while figuring Alex wouldn't mind and would understand. There were books and things in there; things she could keep herself entertained with rather than float aimlessly and restlessly around the bare in comparison lobby. And thus, she was in there now, though instead of browsing the books on the shelves or rustling through drawers, Anastacia was lying on the couch in the room - napping while it still wasn't touched by sunlight and because it was still too early for the young Raevan.

Just outside that room, Zeke's staring soon came to an end as the door burst open on its hinges and Zeke was then barked at. The vet sat up straight and blinked several times to adjust his eyes back to the lobby's dark in comparison interior, though even with the help it didn't clear up fast enough. Through that haze he saw the Sigel floating toward him and Zeke remembered the last time he saw the older Raevan - being carried in with Lucia late last month. Before that though...It was likely a full year since he had seen him and the little red whale too. The man with the dual-colored hair didn't have time to reminisce as those barked, demanding words stung his ears and the human immediately stood up once the swear left the Sigel's lips.

"Rivener!" He said in a nearly hissed tone. "Yes it's Zeke, but shh! Don't swear in here man!" One of the last things he wanted was his ward to pick up foul language, even if she was asleep and if he himself did curse on occasion (but definitely not around Anastacia). His eyes flicked to the door but the sound of leathery scraping made him turn back, reaching across the desk's metal top to grab the Sigel's arm.

"And don't scratch! You'll only make yourself worse!"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 26, 2010 8:30 pm

The Scorpion growled and groaned but relented as Zeke tried to pull his arm away from the scratching. That little bit of friction had helped, but it left Riv's wing throbbing with dull aches all over. "I know, I shouldn't, but guh-! I showered then noticed there were no bandages left, so I came over to get some right away... but now the bandages are all dry and chafing and they feel like they're not sitting right. I just want the bandages and then I'll be going home so Aphi can wrap these stupid things-... Why can't I swear?"

That last bit was a little out of the blue, but the words only now sunk in. Rivener wasn't distracted enough to let the grimace of discomfort fall from his face, but talking about something else DID help keep his mind off the fact that his wings were twitching up a storm. One of his hands slowly migrated up again to start scritching at the joint between shoulder blade and wing, and Riv snarled as he caught himself doing it.

"This is so stupid! How long does it take for wings to heal anyway?! You're a vet- how long does it take? You should know about wings, right?" Although Riv wasn't an animal, and no animal he knew of had wings quite like his... it was still the same thing in essence, right? Zeke should know!

When the Sigel relented Zeke dropped his hand from his forearm, looking a bit perplexed as Rivener explained his situation. Had he...?

"Did you forget to take your bandages off before you showered?" He couldn't see the bandages too well but if they were now dry and chafing, Rivener had pretty much just made himself into a piece of aching paper mache art. He shook his head again, though not to clear the slowly retreated grey haze, just the fact he might have to cut the adolescent Raevan out of his binds and then wrap him back up again. Lucia had been one thing - her wounds had mostly been on her skin - but Riv was different and his injuries were likely out of Zeke's ability. In his career as a veterinarian he had helped to set plenty of broken wings, but nothing quite like this. Riv's wings were by far the largest he'd ever encountered and he was certainly no canary. Still though, Zeke would do what he could if it came to that, but hopefully if it did he could nab Kyou from upstairs or simply even make it so Riv's ride home wasn't a bumpy cab ride. He now had the car to do it after all.

"...Why can't I swear?" Zeke paused just as he turned the desk corner, looking at the Sigel and automatically raising his arm to point at the still-open door and the being who was napping beyond.

"Because--"

"Zeke. Early." And he was cut off with two short words spoken in a soft but snapped tone. Now floating at the invisible line that extended from the point of the human's index finger was Anastacia; rubbing one of her two "normal" eyes with the edge of her hand while the other five were focused on the multi-colored blur before her. Rivener's ordering thunder and the slam of the door had been enough to jostle the Frei from her cat nap, and she wasn't smiling at that fact. Instead she looked disgruntled, and once she dropped her hand her arms crossed over her partial chest, attention focusing on her guardian for the moment in that stern manner that spoke volumes over the fact she was not a morning person.

"--Of her. Hello Anya, did we wake you?" He had to chuckle at his ward's expression, especially as it broke to let a yawn through. She would not like his usual schedule if this was the case. The spindly array of spider's legs atop her head stretched out and back behind her head while the hand she used to rub her eye raised up to hover an inch or two away from her red-lipped mouth.

"Yes." Was the terse, unhappy reply as soon as that yawn ended. At that time she realized her guardian had said "we" and her gaze wavered from Zeke's out of focus blur to the nearly there but not quite half-blur that was Rivener. Her larger than average wings flared as though taken by mild surprise and her crown again creaked into a raised formation (though not so far back as her yawn had sent them). She squinted to bring the older male into focus and that helped some, causing her lavender eyes to widen a touch at what she saw. If Zul was different than her, Rivener was more so. This...Was strange.

"Anya, this is Rivener." Zeke brought himself right around, foregoing an apology for waking the newborn to instead move behind the Sigel to check his damage. Yup, definitely glued himself in there good but, luckily, would only require scissors to free. The fact Rivener had supplied more questions since that moment wasn't lost on Zeke, instead they were just being pushed to the side for the moment in favor of introductions. "Rivener," he moved into the middle of the floor, close enough that Anya could see him without the fuzzy hindrance the veterinarian didn't know was there. "This is Anastacia; my Raevan."

Even if Zeke HAD been avoiding the Sigel's questions, Rivener couldn't have cared less at the moment. The instant that feminine voice snapped at them from the doorway, Riv's attention had completely and fully become focused on the other presence. His entire body flinched with the shock of meeting someone so very much like him. There were differences, of course, but he felt akin to her the same way he felt akin to Vyn... Although this time around that kinship came with the almost uncontrollable urge to float over there and touch that girl all over, whisper things to her, run his fingers through her hair and feel its strands. They'd be like silk, he suddenly thought. The only thing that held him back was the strong mental reminder of ZUL. Riv had promised himself he wouldn't flirt anymore, but holy hell in a basket, he REALLY wanted to!

Despite his best intentions to behave, Rivener's smile had turned into that bedroomy, honey-coated, come-hither smirk he used so very often when he was younger.

Zeke had moved to check Rivener's bandages but the Scorpion couldn't even bring himself to notice. His eyes remained fixated on the spider queen, and the only evidence of his strong desire to close the distance between them was a stiff tension in his shoulders. "Hello, Anastacia," Rivener greeted, his voice dripping with sensuality. He angled his head at her, eyes lidding with contentment. "You are very very-..." what was a good word? "-perfect."

Ohhh, Heavens help him if she came closer on his own. He might have a hard time explaining his behavior to Zul.

Even with introductions made by her guardian, Anastacia remained in the same spot, neither approaching nor backing off. Her defensive display remained up but it would be clear to the other two males in the room it was slowly starting to ease in her wings. Her crown remained erect, however, as the wheels in the newborn's head turned. She wasn't aware she looked older than practically all the Frei's - her facial appearance almost akin to the Sigels - but it didn't take her long to figure this Rivener was older than her. Her lavender eyes dipped down and she saw her lack of anything below her bust line - rune and ribbon not counting in the moment. There was a faint urge to go over there and prod the red and black male a few times, to see how this difference was possible, but Anya remained put, attention going back to the Sigel.

"Hello Anastacia,"

"Welcome." It was the same word Zul had spoken to her first the day Zeke had come to take her home and so the newborn thought it was appropriate to use now. At some point she would learn about the commonly spoken and right greetings to use, but for now 'welcome' was the word at the forefront of her minimal vocabulary. Her expression at his smile and the eyes he made at her didn't change. This was mostly because she couldn't rightly see it, but if she was able to her youthfulness would have dictated she not know what it meant anyway.

While Anya wouldn't have known, Zeke was acquainted with such tone and expression. He had been looking at his ward with a contrasting parental sort of pride so he hadn't seen Riv's smile or expression toward his Raevan, but that tone; that honey-coated, low lilt of a purr, caused the face of the man with the dual-colored hair to slowly lose that parental beaming and instead - slowly, as he turned - change into a mixed expression of disbelief and tight lipped beginnings of parental protection. He wasn't staring daggers at Riv - yet - but he could, and would, should that continue.

Riv's compliment of calling her perfect of all things played to the female's vanity that had been sparked by that mirror she had found two days prior. Her chin raised, accenting her sharp-angled features just that much more and Anastacia's floating inched her height up; proud and assured of her beauty. Her wings flared anew, but it was in a very much decidedly not defensive manner. She gave no reply of thanks, but her stance and appearance glowed that Rivener had hit home on a right spot, and this wasn't lost on Zeke.

"Yes she's beautiful," he agreed, eying Riv with more than just a twinge of bitter taste in his mouth, "very beautiful for a two day old Frei. She's just blossoming." He made sure to stress the spider femme's age, certain her newborn status would make Rivener back off despite her mature looks and large wings. Even so, he knew Zul was smitten with this Sigel - spoke about him fondly the first time Zeke met the demon - and in his first meeting with Rivener merely saying the word 'Zul' had saved him from getting stung. So as far as Zeke knew, Zul and Rivener were an item and yet here Rivener was using a come on voice around a Frei who had just popped in, hadn't even looked at him until just a moment ago, and who's name had only just been revealed. He was slowly dropping points with Zeke and no matter what happened during this time between now and Rivener leaving, Zeke wasn't liable to forget this.

Zeke's words of her being beautiful only fed the Frei's beginning vanity and, in her mind, in order to get more looks, she should be closer. Still ever the aloof one she didn't come too close to them, but close enough that both males were crystal clear in her eyes. Anastacia now saw Rivener for what he was and, like the Sigel, felt that they were similar in a way she and Zul were not. Though...He and Zul shared something too, but Anya didn't stop to wonder about it and her lack of it. Now that she was closer, she could look the older Raevan over without metaphorical Vaseline over her lenses and while the two sets on her brows remained still on his face, the lavender pair started roaming; trying to work how this..."more" was possible.

"So," Zeke spoke up, trying to get Rivener's attention back on him, especially as he saw Anya get closer out of the corner of his eye. No bad influences, not this early, not over his dead body. "How many rolls of bandages do you need?" If he could get Riv his bandages, and fast, he should be gone in just as much time. Or so Zeke hoped.

Rivener grinned, delighted at the reaction he'd gotten for his compliment. She reacted just like he himself would have: flared wings, turned-up chin, floating higher, displaying that which had earned her that compliment in the first place. The Sigel chuckled in very pleased amusement, completely ignoring Zeke now. Until the man spoke, that is.

Red eyes flicked to the vet momentarily, wide and surprised. "Two days?" he repeated, impressed. "And she already uses words without hesitation, clear and eloquent like that? Hrm, she's going to be a wonderful conversationalist." The Scorpion's grin turned into molten honey again as red eyes slid back to the girl. She was moving closer now, and without thinking Rivener inched back the tiniest bit, his mind going through the litany over and over: Remember Zul, Remember Zul, Remember Zul!

She was looking at him all over, and Rivener hated that he wasn't perfectly healthy for her to see. His wings, his best feature to compare to the spider-like Frei, were hidden in those damned itchy bandages! As much as he regretted that, Rivener couldn't bring himself to balk from her eyes: he stretched himself to full height and ran a hand through his hair, brushing it over a shoulder. He relished her gaze drawing along his abs, the proof of his maturity... at least physically.

"Hm?" Riv vaguely registered Zeke was talking to him, and mentally back-tracked to figure out the question. "Oh, bandage rolls... uh, like ten?" That should last him a good couple weeks, and hopefully soon he won't need them anymore... He'd have to remember to come back and show off his wings to Anya sometime too: then she'd see they were VERY alike. Rivener lightly licked at his lips, suppressing a shudder. REMEMBER ZUL, DAMNIT!

While she couldn't fully understand the larger words Rivener was using in regards to her, the tone was enough. It played to her vanity and she only displayed that self pride more, this time unfurling the crown of legs atop her head as far as they could go without harming herself. She felt damn good about herself. She always did, but this was an ego trip. It oozed into her very core and strummed the right cords, though unlike any others, she would not bend over backward for this older Raevan in order to get more appealing words. He would give them to her, just because she was as she was. No other reason for them.

"Hmm." It was the only sound the spider queen made as she continued to and finally finished turning her eyes over Rivener's form. Different. Half a Zeke, really. But despite the differences they were similar in some odd way that she could neither grasp nor explain, even with that niggling feeling he was the same as Zul in a similarly hard to figure way. She was the enigma child - a title given to her long before her birth and that she was unaware of - but at the moment and to her, Rivener was the enigma. Similar but not. Foreign but oddly natural. Hard to explain, especially as he drew a hand through his hair and wafted it back. She couldn't figure that action out at all.

Zeke could though, and he bit the inside of his cheek as Rivener's words were turned back toward the matter he had come to the Lab for. Ten eh? He'd give him an entire box so he wouldn't have to count them out! Plus there tended to be a dozen in one cardboard package and it never hurt to be safe rather than sorry, but that was besides the point at the moment. Zeke knew already that his ward had a curious streak and even though she didn't like to be touched and tended to be aloof, he didn't want to take chances with the older - and decidedly irresponsible and selfish - Raevan in the same room as her.

"Ten," he said, making his tone out to one that meant Rivener should come with him without outright saying it, "okay. I'll give you an even dozen, how about that? That way if anything should happen you have a couple more on hand, just in case."

From the Sigel, Zeke's attention turned toward Anya. His expression lightened toward his ward, smiling gently at her though she wasn't looking at him in any way from what he could tell. No, her attention was wholly on the bearer of good compliments and strange, older appearances. Zeke wasn't sure what her opinion of himself was, but he also wasn't sure what her assumptions of the Scorpion was either. He had to admit to himself he hoped it wasn't positive, if Riv was acting this way around her now - especially when he was supposed to be something with Zul - he couldn't imagine what could happen months or years down the line.

Bad impressions. That's what. He had a feeling he knew what it was like to be his mother right now.

"Anya," Zeke said with a happier, lighter tone that he always used with her, "I'm gonna take Riv to get what he needs now. You can go on ahead and go back to sleeping, I promise there won't be any noise to bother you."

That would have been appealing to the Frei before, but now that she had her curiosity in full swing and her ego stroked, she wasn't going to listen to that. She was still feeling the grips of being partly awake, but she had to figure out more. Her nap could be put off until later, there'd be plenty of time to sleep with how dull this place seemed otherwise and Rivener was a change in that dullness that she could stay behind until he did finally leave and put the Lab back in its usual rut.

"No," she replied, her eyes only giving Zeke an acknowledging flick, "I will go too." Her tone held finality.

Rivener could have laughed out loud. Now that he bothered to pay the human any attention (BARELY any attention, as most of it was still quite captured by the spidery Raevan examining him), he could tell Zeke was trying to separate him from Anastacia. The girl had just outright denied that idea altogether, very clearly stating that she'd be coming along and that was that. What strong will! She was going to be leading Zeke around like he was her servant, wasn't she? Rivener didn't laugh, no, but he couldn't quite stop the smug grin from his face.

"I'm right behind you," he informed the lab worker, following Zeke into the room where he supposedly kept the bandages. The whole while, though, Riv's attention didn't waver from Anya, looking at her with the same intensity she was reserving for him. The smug grin returned to the sultry, ultimately-pleased smile of before, Rivener all but preening as he was examined. Damn his broken wings... he could have made SUCH an impression on her otherwise. Although he felt he'd made a good impression already.

"You sleep a lot, Anastacia?" Riv asked, wanting to try and draw conversation from the girl. She wasn't the talkative type, not with words. Body language was another matter, however. She said plenty with that. Riv decided to use some of his own: he tested his boundaries by floating just a tiny bit closer to her, tilting his head to admire her crown of spider-legs.

Zeke wanted to say something to his ward's firm, assured tone, but he couldn't make any sound come out. He was flabbergasted! Then again, he shouldn't be should he? Anastacia had her curious side and Rivener was something shiny and new in the Lab. It was only natural she wouldn't want to go back into the quiet room devoid of interesting objects or people. Well...It seemed he couldn't change her opinion. The trip wouldn't take long anyway. In and out, in and out.

"Okay, you can come along." He kept that friendly smile going at his Raevan, but tapped Rivener on the arm to follow before leading the march. "This way. We've got a whole storage closet full."

She needn't her guardian's permission to join the parade. As soon as the procession started to move, Anastacia went right along with it, only making pause to debate where to float. Before Rivener, after Rivener, next to Rivener...Well...She didn't want to be touched BY Rivener, that was for sure, but leading up the rear didn't seem agreeable either. With no other option the spider queen took to the middle, but floated in such a way she was closer to the Sigel than to her guardian and had optimal room to move as needed. It wasn't the best place, but it suited her needs just fine.

"You sleep a lot, Anastacia?"

The Frei turned toward the Sigel at his question, one leg of her crown flicking idly as she took it in. She slept enough, but not a lot in her books. It was just so drab and early here that she couldn't help but nod off on the couch in Zeke's office. And Zeke didn't harass her about it, so why not?

"She's definitely not a morning Raevan." Zeke offered helpfully from the front when his Raevan gave no reply. The Frei ignored him.

"It's early," was her reply, and Zeke had no influence on it. She didn't shrug nor smile when she spoke, instead looking flat at the Sigel and continuing to take him in. He was so strange and she couldn't place why...But then he moved closer to her and that train of thought stopped.

It wasn't too close to be touching her, but the Sigel moved close enough that she felt he would and she wouldn't have that. Her neutral expression changed as her brows furrowed ever so slightly and the Frei immediately moved back and away from Rivener. As a warning she ceased her crown's idle flicking and instead raised all points, giving the older Raevan a look just as sharp as those legs were. Her wings didn't flare, but she still meant what she was trying to get across - do not touch.
PostPosted: Wed May 25, 2011 12:55 pm

Rivener raised both eyebrows innocently as the spider queen put blatant distance between them, not hiding her displeasure in the least. As Riv had thought, she spoke mostly through her body: that icy glare, the crown of legs splayed up in irritation. She was as mysterious and intriguing to interact with as Roux, all those years ago. He grinned, backing away slightly to show he wasn't going to push things. "Alright, I understand. I'm sorry I was too close. I just wanted a look at your lovely crown." A bit of a lie, but he'd stick to it.

He faced front again and continued behind Zeke into the storage room, latching onto the previous topic, one of the safer ones so far. "I understand not liking mornings. I don't like early either," he added specifically for Anya, speaking low, like it was a secret between them. Raevans versus humans. His smile was honey-hued. "I much prefer night time. Do you stay up past dark very much?" It was just inane conversation, but every little hint of the other arachnid's behavior was a trophy. The more Riv found out, the more he wanted to delve deeper and understand.

From a purely curious point of view, he told himself, once again struck with a chord of guilt as he thought of Zul. Because she's so similar to me.

Lovely.

It was a compliment, and it was soaked in and relished, but it didn't mean the Frei's defenses went down so easily. Anastacia waited until Rivener floated back and even when he did she still waited a few moments more before slowly letting her crown and gaze settle back down to normal, though she still eyed him warily. However, once she was back to her regular state, she did have to note how easily he listened to words that weren't spoken. He didn't mess with her and didn't tempt fate by trying to get closer, much like Zeke. Already she had good feelings that she could use this display to her advantage and was rather pleased he didn't try to get nearer. He listened, and that was good, but he was also quickly back to talking.

So he was more like her than she thought. Not just in appearance somehow, but in mind. He didn't like the early morning, she didn't, they were similar again. Then his voice lowered and she had to lean her head in toward him to catch his words. Night time? Night time was fine, it was easier on her eyes than the blinding light of morning or day but how long past dark did he mean? Zeke went to bed later than she did, but she went to bed long after the sky was dark and the lights on the street were turned on by some strange magic. The gears turned in her head. Thoughts whirled and were recollected and Anastacia thought about what was being asked. How long after dark was she awake? The day she was brought home she didn't stay up very long because the day had tired her. Yesterday she had been awake longer, but she didn't know how long.

The Frei began to shake her head in an 'I don't know' response to the question, but Zeke's voice from ahead of her stopped the virus Frei midway.

"Here we are, Rivener." Zeke was watching them once he came to a stop but had the door open in a jiffy once his hand rested on the handle. With a faint smile he immediately ducked inside and began rooting around amongst the boxes. "They should be around here somewhe--Ah ha!"

The raver returned with a short rectangular cardboard box in hand and shut the door behind him with his hip. With a finger he cut the tape holding the lid in place and peered inside, doing a quick count. Twelve rolls in four lines of three. Just enough to get Rivener's wings bandaged with two more left over as a 'just in case'. What's more, just enough to get him out and away from the newborn Frei.

"Twelve rolls, just like I said." Zeke strode forward and offered the box to the Sigel, smiling in his friendly way even as Anastacia backed away from him and cast the same sharp glare at her guardian. It was no mask or ruse, but he had been keeping an ear out on the two Raevan's conversation. Nothing bad was said of course, but Rivener's tone...Rivener's tone... "If you have any extra left over, I'm sure Kyou would be fine with you keeping it. Never hurts to have some extra after all!"
PostPosted: Wed May 25, 2011 1:32 pm

He hadn't expected the question to warrant such deep thought, the spider queen at his side focusing inward, turning things over. Rivener's smile twitched up a little broader, but he didn't interrupt. Perhaps he'd been too quick to assume she was aware of everything around her; two days wasn't enough to come to grips with the concept of night and day, or time in general. He'd been too impressed, too interested. Now, though, she'd reminded him with that silent shake of lacking knowledge.

She'd not even finished one full shake when Zeke piped up, drawing attention back to himself ahead. Rivener's eyes eventually migrated over to the dual-colored hair as it ducked through the boxes. A package of bandages was produced, Zeke counting them out before handing the whole box over.

With the arrival of the box came the death of Rivener's real excuse to be here. He sighed deeply and accepted the cardboard thing, tucking it under an arm. "Well then. I guess I should get going so I can replace these." He turned towards Anya, dismissing Zeke entirely now that he had no more need of the human. The polite smile he'd sent the Lab worker once again turned sultry and smooth as he focused on the Frei instead. "I won't keep you up much longer, pretty Anastacia. If you'd like, I would enjoy coming to visit you again to show you my wings when they're better. I'm certain you'll like them. And then you'd maybe see why we are so alike." He winked at her, flashing a debonair grin. "Will you say goodbye to me by the door to outside?"

He knew she was a little self-centered and might not want to escort him that far, but the question was another little test to see what she would do. Riv relished finding out the answer.

Zeke knew he was being blown off once he handed the bandages over but didn't say much to it. Instead he just bit his tongue and continued to smile, all the while keeping a sharp eye on his ward and the Raevan who was likely less of a stranger to her by now.

Like Rivener, the virus Frei went right back to ignoring her guardian once the man handed over what Rivener came her for. She had no interest in the box or its contents either and so her eyes remained trained on the Sigel's face. Words, words, words, he was talking again and she could tell he was more apt for conversation than she was. She didn't feel troubled by this however, because it seemed she had gotten her point across well enough without talking. This idea also intrigued her, but she didn't focus on it just yet. Rivener had called her 'pretty' and much like his first words this stroked her vanity just right, making her inclined and agreeable.

She nodded, but then stopped to look at the man she had left waiting in the hall behind her. Zeke was eying Rivener now and there was something in her guardian's eyes she couldn't figure out. It wasn't like him though, but she cared very little about him right now. However...Would he put up a fight about her seeing Rivener out?

The vet felt eyes on him and turned to see his Raevan staring at him and from his point of view it looked as though she were questioning him instead of studying him like a rat in a cage. She would see Rivener again at some point, that he knew full well and it was inevitable, so the question was--

"We're going that way anyway, Anya," Zeke said mildly, smiling gently at her, "So I guess it's okay..." Her learning manners was a good thing, but he WOULD be watching all the same.

To this reply - again not that she needed it, she just wanted to see if he'd react negatively - a small smile ghosted over the Frei's face before quickly vanishing. She turned back to the older Raevan and nodded again, then turned her back on her man to follow Rivener out. At the door into the lobby she floated back with a wince for a moment - the light! The damn light! Especially to the eyes on her brow! - but kept up with the soon-departing older male. She crossed the room easily enough but Anastacia stopped short of the door. This was as far as she would go, Rivener could make the rest of the trip himself. She had greeted him before, and now - like he asked - she would give him his farewell. With a downright regal raise of her chin to the Sigel, Anastacia spoke in her cool, quiet tone:

"Goodbye." That was all that was needed.
