You can buy those cardboard boxes at those craft shops. And they cost a fortune right. Why don't we just make our own? One problem: How? Does any one know? neutral exclaim exclaim burning_eyes

Use shoe boxes.
Do a search for "how to make a box." There should be patterns, but basic geometry has always worked for me. You don't need to add tabs to the sides if you tape the corners with a strong tape, like packing tape.

Yes. After you make a few and get the hang of it, try some other shapes. I've seen boxes shaped like pumpkins, with lids, but haven't taken the time to make one. I think you could start with a pattern for a simple ball, and go from there. The pumpkin boxes were covered with ornately patterned fabrics, and were just beautiful.
