Kahili ran across the fields as water fell from the sky, soaking her coat, her hair and straight to her bones it felt like. The grassy plains were endless, it seemed there weren’t any trees left and if there were any they weren’t tall enough to provide any protection. Onward she went until, finally, a small thicket of trees came into view and she quickly ducked inside and out of the pouring rain. “Damn spring storms,” she muttered unhappily as she shook herself off. Despite that, she was still cold and wet and would, no doubt, start shivering soon.
Lately things hadn’t been going so well for her. She was by herself, which normally wasn’t a big deal but she’d been that way for so long it was starting to get boring. And lonely. Next, she’d heard many rumors of her younger family members multiplying like bunnies. What the hell? She never even saw her so-called boyfriend once in probably five months! Now all these young things were having their own kids, probably not even knowing what they were doing. Speaking of that boyfriend, what was the deal there? Seriously, if he didn’t have any time for her, what was the point of even being together? Sure they cared for each other but they sure hadn’t been showing it lately. And she never loved him, she’d never gotten that far and even now she was falling out of like with him. Way too much had been happening and none of it any good for her.
So now here she was, alone, cold, not very happy with life itself, and just all around moody.

Hmm... rain, that was interesting. Now, the precipitation wasn't a burden, just a slight irritation. It was good for the armored Kalona, that it washed away her scent from any possible prey. But, on the other hand, it washed away the scent of any possible prey. Vera snorted, a puff of steam escaping from her nostrils.
Looking around, the large horse gave her wings a small flap, ridding them of the excess water clinging to them, before walking through the fields. Over time, she came across a thicket of trees and approached it. Possibly, she could set up some sort of ambush from there on some pitiful creature. Her spaded tail slashed from the thought as she slowly headed into the trees.

Kahili had been planning on riding out the rain in her small thicket of trees and, once it had warmed up a bit, she would continue on her way. Her mind had started to wander and she wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings until a strange sound snapped her back to reality. It was the rain hitting against something. It had a metallic sound to it and when she peeked out to see what it could be she saw a strangely armored kalona headed her way. Great. Just what I need is a pest to bully me around today. She backed off a bit and stepped back further into the trees to keep her distance from the beast.
Kahili'd had a fairly sheltered life and to her, Kalonas and Skinwalkers were more of a nuisance than a threat. Thinking they were better than others and pushing everyone else around, it was pathetic. She didn't show them any respect because they wouldn't show her any. If it weren't for her family stopping her in the past, she probably would have gotten seriously injured for mouthing off to one, one too many times.
Now one of those very same bullies was coming into her temporary shelter. She watched and waited for what would happen next, knowing fully well her day was most likely not going to get any better.

The dragon was unaware that she had company in the thicket, the rain dampening her sense of smell, quite literally. It was hearing something moving that caught her attention, certain she spotted movement as well. Her orange eyes continued to watch for what was in the trees with her.
Her lip curled in a snarl, revealing her fangs slightly, a bit annoyed that she wasn't alone. But, then she thought of something. It wouldn't be such a bad thing if whatever that was there could be turned into a possible meal. With that, the large mare started to walk in the direction of the thing moving away from her.

Of course it would come closer. It didn’t seem like she was going to get away being unseen so she backed up a little more and snorted. “What do you want? I’m just trying to stay out of the rain and it seems you are too so why can’t we just share the shelter? Won’t kill you.” She really was naïve, she had no idea how temperamental kalona could be and she was just running her mouth like it was no big deal. If this kalona was one of the meaner ones, she was in for it. What made it worse, she probably wouldn’t even think of running until it was too late.

Vera chuckled softly to herself at the attempt of whatever it was to conceal itself more from her. She could already smell it, and from its reaction, could tell it was a Lesser. A Kalona wouldn't back away from a threat. She took a few more steps before the other finally spoke to her. At the comment, the dragon snorted, a puff of smoke coming from her nostrils. "Hmph... for someone who wishes to get along, you sure have a big mouth. As for what I want, I just wanted to see who was cowarding from me, but that might change to wanting a meal if you keep running your mouth." She retorted, swishing her tail, the sound of metal slashing against bark being heard behind her.

Irritating creatures these Kalona were. "Running my mouth? I've barely said anything. And you just wanna jump right to eating someone. Typical. Fine, you want the shelter? Whatever I'll go somewhere else since someone obviously didn't learn how to share when they were younger." She just kept digging herself deeper and deeper into a hole and somehow she just couldn't drop the shovel. Where was she going to go though? This was like the only clump of trees within eyesight. Just great, she had to go get soaked again because the grumpy Kalona was having a bad day. Just perfect!

She snorted. "Really? You call telling me to find another shelter not running your mouth? You call what you're doing now not running you mouth?! Hmph... I thought non-kalonas were more welcoming." She retorted, idly scratching an itch with a low branch on a tree, still remaining rather calm despite the mare's determination to get her to attack her. "Now, since arriving, have I tried to kill you? So, would that really mean that I wanted to eat you? Plus, it is obvious that I can share... you're the one running yourself out of the shelter." She answered, bringing her gaze up to the mare, now quite curious how the mare will react... wondering if she truly wanted to shorten her life.

Kahili then stood her ground. It was cold, raining, and miserable out there and damnit she wanted to stay here. "Okay then we can come to some sort of agreement and both stay here like civilized people until the rain stops. I can stay over here, and you over there or vise versa, whatever. I doubt you'd want to have some girl chat time so I'll just stay quiet." That was pretty straightforward and reasonable right? If the grumpy mare thought she was 'running her mouth' again then well she certainly had problems.

Vera just stood where she was, her wings fluttering to get the droplets of water that had collected on them off. Soon, she shook herself out, though it proved to be a little bit difficult, with the confines of the trees and their branches snagging on her armor. She snorted softly at that, but freed herself. She looked to the mare that she was sharing the 'shelter' with and rolled her eyes at how she just continued to talk. She had to wonder if she gabbed this much with her family and how they tolerated it if she did.

Kahili stayed where she was, glancing over at the other mare now and then. She really really hoped the rain would stop soon though. It was awkward just standing here with a sour puss like her, of course she couldn't get someone nice and friendly to chat with on this dreary day. Nope, she got the grouchy Kalona mare. She didn't even know if she should try to make conversation or not. Probably not, if she wanted to talk she could take the initiative.

As the kalona mare rested under her reprieve from the rain, she stretched out her wings lightly. She was just going to chill in the patch of trees quietly, but she had noticed the other mare constantly moving her attention back and forth to her. With that, she snorted. "Is there something wrong? You're constantly looking over here for someone that didn't seem to want anything to do with me?"
