Starpaw trekked out of the hollow tree and headed to the leader's den. Last night Hauntedheart told her that her destiny wasn't to be a medicine cat, and Starpaw had no mentor. "Thunderstar?" she said gleaming into her leader's hazel eyes "I need you."

Mistpaw rolled into the den and padded next to Starpaw and happily fell asleep even though she wanted someone to wake her up.

Mistpaw could hardly sleep that night. "Moonpaw?" she asked her friend, "Are you tired at all?" she hoped he would say no. It would be so fun to sneak out of camp!

"I want to as well, but you know, I think we should bring Icepelt and look for Hauntedheart, Icepelt is worried about her. Remember when that patrol found him? I can't believe how he survived that fox attack! Anywho Hauntedheart cared for him and helped him become his old self."

"Actually, I dont think thats a good idea. See you dont remember this probably. When one of our elders died. Hauntedheart and Starpaw were having a huge fight. Starpaw threatened to run away that night. But then we heard a screech. Me, Thunderstar and Starpaw went to see what was going on. What we found was Ashfoot dead, on Hauntedheart's favorite stone. The den was a mess. Worst of all, we couldn't find Hauntedheart anywhere. We sent messages to all the clans. We sent patrols everywhere. We picked up her scent for a while, but it ended near the bottomless pit." Mistpaw said, shivering. She hated that story. And she was a witness.
"Besides," Mistpaw said. "It would be so more fun if it was just the two of us." she purred.
