A new year comes and I must say, we all look forward to what it will bring.
Well i'm sure all of this and more is being said in other threads, but there is one thing I'm interested in, what will Nightwish sound like this year?
I'm not just talking about Tarja leaving either.
I'm wondering what sound the band shall take, for once...departed greatly from their usual style, and I sadly found a few true gems i the album. the rest...were great, but did not move me or inspire me like Century Child did, I know Nightwish is evolving, but I hope they advance, but maintain that theatrical flair that made me fall in love with them.

I hope Nightwish goes back to a style a little more Oceanborn than Once. Oceanborn was, in my opinion, their absolute best album. Century Child was in a close second, but most of the tempos in those songs were slower that on other albums. I liked the more power metal feel to the Oceanborn stuff.
But whatever it is Nightwish does, I'm probably going to like it, especially now that my tastes have graduated into more of a harder sound.

I am in complete agreement. they should go back to Oceanborn way. i don't yet have Century Child but the second best album for me is Wishmaster.

Indeed, Oceanborn andCentury child are their best albums...Once seemed too...well..hard. I don't like to feel as if my ears are being assaulted ^u^
Though I did like a few of their newer songs, still, i liked their old style a wee bit more.

I don't like to feel as if my ears are being assaulted ^u^ I didn't find Once to be assaulting on my ears, I even want to find the sheet music for some of the songs. Some of the older stuff is a bit too much out of my taste, but I haven't found a song by them I dislike yet.
On a side note..

Request it though, and I'll make some fa-reeking big haikus (as in groups of them). To everyone else, don't judge me, but Wishmaster is still my favourite album, although I agree with Jibbie that I haven't found a Nightwish song I don't like (although Creek Mary's Blood makes me giggle because it's cheesey).

gonk My Angels Fall First CD is missing Angels Fall First! WHAA??? nooo that is sad cry crying crying xd when i bought that CD i first thought wow its different more peacefull in the way it sounds compared to oceanborn. then i got use to it and i listen to it more than the other CD's.

I'm actually listening to Once right now... smile . I won't say it's my favorite, because I can't choose just one, but it's the one I listen to the most... probably because it has Ghost Love Score on it and I listen to that song multiple times a day.
And I can't comment on comparing different cds, especially on the wonderfulness on Wishmaster or Oceanborn, since I do not own those as of yet (soon, soon, I'm hopinggggg). I don't see Once as being more hard, but that's just me.
Damn, I was going to say something else, but my brain isn't functioning
Maybe because it's 5 in the morning...
Oh yea, there is that.

Until Sunday I stayed up 'til earliest 4, latest 7 each night/day. But now I'm back to 3 AM because of school.
