None of need reminding of the vitriol poured out daily against GW Bush and everything around him by both the media and individuals. In fact, at my school, it was and is still OK to bash him, while any word even slightly against Obama gains you stony silence and glares.

There is a funny but slightly mean-spirited FB group "DEAR LORD, THIS YEAR YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTOR, PATRICK SWAYZE. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE ACTRESS, FARAH FAWCETT. YOU TOOK MY FAVORITE SINGER, MICHAEL JACKSON. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW, MY FAVORITE PRESIDENT IS BARACK OBAMA. AMEN". It looks like it was someone's sig file, or other meme, that was copied into an FB group. No big whoop. The goat getting more fans than Obama has the same spirit, if not the same lettering - that Obama is unpopular and making bad decisions for the country.

Well, to my displeasure, my otherwise-intelligent classmates are prone to joining this dumb group that actually takes the above-mentioned group at their word. Whether they are Christians or not, they are obviously too stupid to realize that prayers to God for the destruction of others aren't heard. God in His mercy might spare, but He does not destroy, unless it is already in His will. In the words of columnist Mike Royko, "God don't listen to jerks."
So a joke group that expresses disapproval towards our first socialist president gets taken as a serious threat? And liberals pride themselves on being intellectuals? I think not.

EDIT: Ok, after further reading of their page, evidently they're not stupid enough to think that God will listen to mal-prayers (because that involves believing in God - gasp! how awful). They have such a disdain for the rest of the country that they think some weirdo will become galvanized by the FB group and try to do the deed. Poppycock. Perhaps some dimly recalled memory of "Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?" addles their fug-filled minds. If they could apply the same supercilious disdain to themselves and their agenda as they do to everyone else, they...would be totally different people.

How the heck does that group have almost half a million members?

Ripple effect? A group of people join any group, their friends see the notice of joining and they decide to click, their friends, and so on. No wonder marketers are salivating over these trends.

I mean, even in facebook terms that's a pretty large group.
