Kiyoshi waded out of the Kairi Pond and shook her raninbow dotted black fur. She purred slightly and then laid down on the bank and stretched. Purring still she fell asleep slightly.

Rasco's den was located just a little ways away from the Kairi pond. The big, black nova had just woken up a little bit ago and poked his head out, breathing in the fresh morning air. It woke him up a little bit, but he was still a bit sleepy from the night before.
"I'm going to go take a dip in the pond." He thought to himself, stretching and heading in that direction. When he arrived, he didn't notice the she-nova sleeping on the opposite bank.

Kiyoshi's nose twitched as the scent of male intruded on her peace. She lifter her head and moved her multi-colored ears forward to look at the big black Nova standing on the other shore. She sneezed from dirt on her delicate nose, and likely alerted the other Nova as to where she was. She she got up and slipped into the pond. Hoping he hadn't seen her.

Rasco had just stepped into the shallow part of the pond when he heard the sneeze. Perking his ears up, he looked quickly to the side. He didn't see any nova, but the water was rippling and he could swear he saw a dark shape slip under the water. He thought that maybe he just imagined it... but he slowly began to wade that way, just to see.

Kiyoshi sank down to the bottom and hoped her breathing exercises made it so she could hold her breath long enough to escape the scary looking Nova.
She stayed there for what felt like an eternity to her...

Rasco looked around for whatever had made the noise. But whatever it was, it was either gone or had gone deeper than he could go. He gave up after a while and swam out of the pond, shaking his fur dry. He felt more awake now.

It was then that she couldn't hold it any longer. She freaked out and flopped to the surface and struggled for a bit, then she laid still and floated face up on her back in the pond...

Rasco had started to walk away when he heard a splash. Quickly, he spun around and looked at the pond. "Ah ha! I knew I heard something!" He said, taking a few steps back towards the pond.

She was out. Unconscious and starting to slowly sink out of sight.

It took Rasco a second to realize that the other nova wasn't conscious. With widened eyes, he bounded to the bank and jumped in, grabbing the small female by the skin on her neck and tugging her to shore.

The waterlogged Nova coughed and sputtered. "Mmm... What...? Who...? Who are you...?" She breathed deeply of the cool air as if it were her last.

"Me? I'm the guy who just saved you!" Rasco said. He might've sounded a little mean, but he was just worried about the female nova. "What do you think you were doing under the water like that?"

She cringed at the sound of his voice, her ears rather sensitive. "I don't commonly get along with other Nova, so I hid..." She groaned slightly and winced coughing up some water....

The male nova sighed. She was going to need a place to rest and recover now. "Is your den close by? If not, you can rest at mine if you want." He offered, trying to be nice.

"N.. No.... Thank you but I will be fine..." She got up and shakily started to walk only to collapse and go into unconsciousness. Her dreams were wracked with the mean orange Nova who had tormented her all her life. Throwing dirt at her and pushing her in the lake... He just wouldn't stop...
She groaned in her sleep, and whimpered.
