Nanaki yawned sleepily as the morning sunlight woke him. It seemed that lately he'd been unable to get much rest. The time spent at the beach had resulted in some very... pleasurable activities... but as the pregnancy got further along he found Yury to be a bit hard to handle at times with all of the hormones running rampant throughout her rather well expanded body. Since he didn't want to say anything that would hurt her feelings when she was starting to irritate him, and he knew it wasn't her fault she was acting that way, he had often disappeared on long trips to find food or medicine or something nice to take back to her.
They had settled down near the river, just a half day or so away from the beach and their home consisted of a nice willow and down closer to the water there was a nice cave which would be a good place to raise the pups so they weren't out in the open. He was very proud of himself for finding the place and even happier when he found the surrounding area to be a good source for medicinal herbs as well as prey.
A day earlier the big event had happened, Yury had finally popped, much to his relief and excitement. As he looked upon his three offspring he felt such a surge of pride that he couldn't figure out how to express it correctly and so he settled for licking and nuzzling his pups as well as his lovely mate.
Now though, the pups were safely tucked away, where they would stay until their eyes opened and they were able to start exploring. Yury would stay with them, he knew, and he also knew she would be very hungry. With this thought in mind he rose to his paws, stretched and then looked over at her wondering if he should wake her and let her know where he was going or not.

Yury was dead tired from her labor and knowing her babies where safe she was able to relax and feel asleep quickly. This past month she seemed to always be moody and with her big belly all she could do is wobble around. But those days are over for now and she gladly rested.
She laid snuggled up to her pups with where snuggled into baskets to keep them safe. One of the babies had fire on her just like her father and when she was placed into the basket it caught on fire. Yury looked up at Nanaki worried but he reassured her everything would be fine. The fire wouldn't burn the basket and she was right or the ones her two brothers laid. With everything seeming to flow perfectly she dozed off dreaming about there nights on the beach, under that star light sky.
Yury rolled over to where Nanaki was and by her surprise there was a cold empty space. Her eyes shoot open and she sat up and looked around to see Nanaki up like he was going out. "Where are you going dear?" she asked rubbing her eyes a little. It felt so nice to be able to move like how she use it before her pregnancy.

Nanaki didn't have to ponder whether to wake her or not for long because when she rolled over and realized he wasn't there she awoke quickly. He smiled at her and walked closer so he could nuzzle her. "Well, I was on my way to get you breakfast, unless you're not hungry and you'd rather I stay?" his eyes shimmered with the pure joy he felt.
He was convinced he had the most wonderful mate and pups in the world and he couldn't believe that they were really his to love and protect.

When Nananki nuzzled her she nuzzled him back and gave him a small kiss. Right as Yury was going to tell him she wasn't that hungry her tummy growled. "Breakfast would be good"She said embarrassed as her white fur turned pink as she blushed and turned her head away. She slightly turned back to Nanaki knowing he found it funny and just gave a innocent smile. She was lucky to have such a wonderful mate that she could spend the rest of her life with.

Nanaki grinned when her stomach growled. "That's what I thought." he chuckled quietly before brushing his tail along her side. "I'll return as quickly as I can. Don't disappear on me okay?" he flashed her the brightest smile that he'd ever managed and headed off through the cave entrance.
As he walked he pondered over what she might like to have for breakfast. He knew that the smell of fish had made her sick for awhile during her pregnancy and so he was reluctant to go for that, not even considering the fact that he was horrible at fishing anyway, so that option was out. As he continued wandering he came across a recent path of a rabbit. He smirked and quickly turned to follow the trail. As he made his way over the dunes he saw the plump rabbit hopping slowly along ahead of him, stopping to nibble on the small shoots of grass that were sprouting out of the desert sands.
He dropped into a hunters crouch and stalked towards it. When he was close enough he surged forward, the sudden movement alerted the rabbit to the danger it was in but by then it was too late. He had the rabbit by the throat and was carrying it back to his mate within moments.
As he returned to the den he entered and waited a moment for his eyes to adjust to the dimmer lighting before walking over to Yury and setting it down in front of her. "Breakfast is served pretty lady."

Yury giggles on Nanakis last comment and shouted back at him as he left. "Ya like there is so many place i got carrying 3 baskets." Soon after he was gone to hunt. "I hope her doesn't bring fish....that is the last thing i want to see." she mumbles to herself.
Suddenly she herd a squeak from one of the baskets and quickly turned to it see if anything was wrong. She walked over to the basket on the far right where the squeak come from. She gently poked the basket with her nose and it Squeaked again plus she could hear movement for the basket.. "awwww, Isamu. Are you haven't a nightmare" she gently spoke to it. She wasn't 100% sure what to do but then she remembered what her mother use to do.
Yury gently rocked the basket back and forth with her paw and started to sing a lullaby to him. In the middle of her song Nanaki popped in. "Shhhh, they are sleeping" she told him and continued with the song. Once she was done singing she walked over to her mate and nuzzled him lovingly. "Lets eat outside so we wont disturb them" She suggested as she grabbed the rabbit in her jaws.

Nanaki tilted his head to the side as he watched his mate soothing one of their pups. After she had finished the lullaby and walked to him he nuzzled her in return and followed her out of the den to rest in the warm sunshine. Sitting down beside Yury he sighed in contentment and waited for her to eat her fill of breakfast. He could always catch something else for himself if he was still hungry but she was feeding their pups as well and he would not eat a bite until she was satisfied.
"Yury..." he spoke and then paused, unsure of how to continue. "do... do you think that I will be a good father?" He decided to just say what was on his mind rather than think of a good way to word his concern. All he had thought about since the pups had been conceived was whether or not he would be a good father. He hadn't had the best relationship with his own father when he was young and he feared that he may be the same.

Once they moved to outside she say by the entrance of the ben. Now that she became a mother she natural instincts started to take over. For instance she would never walk 5 feet away from her den and always kept a careful watch over her surroundings. Even though she would worry something when Nanaki left for long periods of time, she would be scared someone would try to take there pups and she wont be able to protect them by herself. She then shook such thoughts out of her head and proceed to eat the Rabbit Nanaki provided.
Well she was eating Nanaki suddenly asked he the question. Yury quickly looked at him with her big blue eyes and just smiled loving at him. "Of course you will make a great father, babe."She continued " You are a great protector so i know our pups will be safe. Also you know a lot so then they get older you can teach then so much stuff. And i know they will be able to go to you then they are in trouble." Yury gently nuzzled and kissed Nanaki to reinsure him along with wrapping her tail around him. " Your a great mate, and you will be a great father too. Just don't contradicting yourself to much." She added as well.

Nanaki tried to calm down and let her response reassure him and he did feel better, sort of, but he was still worried that he might end up like his father. He let it go though so he wouldn't upset Yury and watched as she finished eating the rabbit. "Are you still hungry?" he asked her knowing that she had to eat for herself as well as their three pups.
Rising to his paws he looked around for something he could do. He was feeling a little uncomfortable now after showing off the more sensitive side of himself and confiding in her about his fears. He knew that it was irrational but he couldn't help it, blame it on the male ego if you will but he wasn't comfortable having the one who looked to him for protection knowing that he was in the middle of a vicious battle inside of himself.
