This is also the only way to get Pikachu without trading it into the game - it doesn't appear in the wild in Heart Gold and Soul Silver!
For the record, Pikachu does appear wild in HG/SS aside from the Pokewalker. They have an uncommon appearance in Viridian Forest.I suppose I should rephrase that to "Pikachu doesn't appear in the wild in Johto" then.
sweatdrop I haven't actually made it very far in the game yet, yet alone to the Kanto portion of the game, so I completely forgot about that.
Here's what I can tell you all about the Yellow Route:
* It appears to be contain only Pikachu (at least, that's all I've encountered so far).
* Depending on the type of pokemon you use, you can either get a "typical" Pikachu or a Pikachu with special moves. So far I can confirm that Normal, Bug, and Electric types all give you a "typical" Pikachu, while Rock types will give a "special" one.
* The "typical" Pikachu is at level 10 and is holding an Oran Berry. The nature differs, but the moves are the same: ThunderShock, Growl, and Tail Whip.
* So far I've gotten three "special" Pikachus, though there could easily be more:
Level 13 holding a Leppa Berry with the moves Flail, Helping Hand, Shockwave, and Thunder Wave
Level 10 holding a TinyMushroom with the moves ThunderShock, Growl, Tail Whip, and Thunder Wave
Level 14 holding a Lum Berry with the moves Surf, Thunderbolt, ThunderWave, and Quick Attack
* The following items have been found, along with the number of times found and the number of steps taken:
Miracle Seed - 1 - 8,558 steps
Big Root - 2 - 8,558 steps; 4,733 steps
Aspear Berry - 4 - 8,558 steps; 4,733 steps; 6,516 steps
Rawst Berry - 2 - 8,947 steps; 4,733 steps
BigMushroom - 1 - 6,516 steps
* Trading items between two Pokewalkers on the Yellow Route, I got the following items:
Light Ball
Thunderstone
Big Root (2)
If any of the rest of you have the root and have been keeping track of it, post your findings here!
