Evari was...somewhere...to be honest neither Xai nor Tyyne really knew where she was, but they knew she was somewhere. She could be anywhere, but Xai knew she was still somewhere and that was all that mattered, right? But Xai had decided she wanted to finally see what an electronics store here on Gaia was like, but then Tyyne would be left home alone! ...The solution? Bring Tyyne along. And so the pair had set off to have a day for just the two of them, including lunch and maybe even a movie later. After Xai's curiosity had been appeased, anyway.
Unfortunately this wasn't exactly what Tyyne would call fun. Gadgets and computers and technology was more Xai's thing, and Tyyne would rather just go out into their own back yard and try to grow a garden. That was more Tyyne's speed. But she was a good girl and dutifully followed alongside her mother, looking around at all the things around them. Sigh. If only she could find someone else to talk to.
"Is something the matter, Tyyne?" Xai asked, sensing Tyyne's discomfort. Tyyne blinked, her ears perking up high and turning her head to look up at Xai with large doe eyes.
"Um, n-no. I'm okay." She lied. Xai seemed to buy it though...mostly.
"Well, just let me know if you need anything, Tyyne." Tyyne nodded, playing with a lock of hair and sighing as she looked around again. Come on...come on! There had to be something. Anything. Something green? And living?

Today, Donovan needed to settle an urge. An urge to look at new gizmos, and maybe gets some parts and things for ongoing projects. He had a list, and all he had to do was go out and check it off. He walked down the street, carrying Vance in his arms. He didn't have the patience to walk at a toddler's pace, so anytime they went out, the little boy was carried.
Donovan entered the store and set the boy down. He couldn't very well get his stuff with a kid in his arms. It would be difficult. Donovan knelt down the the boy's level, holding his shoulders and looking him straight in the eye. "Okay Vance. Remember what I said earlier?" "Noooo touching!" The boy replied. Donovan nodded and stood up. "Good. Stick close and try not to horse around." He couldn't very well let the boy spread his oozy mucus everywhere. It was bad enough at home, let alone a place he would have to pay money to buy things the tot could potentially soil.
Donovan began looking around, spotting the lovely lady ahead of him. He'd seen cute girls, hot girls, smokin' girls. But this girl was out of this world! "Hey baby. What's up?" He asked with a smirk and a raised brow. Vance was clinging to Donovan's pant leg staring at the weird girl with four legs near the tall lady. Was she an animal? Or a girl? "Daddy, wassat?" The boy asked, pointing at the fawn girl.

At first Xai didn't answer to the question. She wasn't a baby, why would she answer? Sure, she was practically a baby on Ursontaea but...this wasn't Ursontaea. But Tyyne realized that this man was talking to her mother and so she tugged at the hem of her dress, making her blink and look down at her and then the man being pointed at by the little fawn girl. Oh...he was talking to her? Xai blinked and tilted her head. "Um..." Oh! Right! What's up wasn't literal here, he wanted to know how she was doing! "Not...much? And yourself?"
Tyyne blinked, holding onto the hem of Xai's dress and hiding the bottom half of her body behind the woman's legs. Granted that was about as effective as hiding an elephant behind a stop sign but it was the thought that counted. Wassat? What's that, right? Well...well she...she was a girl! "I-I'm...Tyyne." She was Tyyne! What more did it matter? But other than that he was...rather adorable. His little pajamas were so cute!

The bewildered reaction did little to hurt the young man's confidence. He had a lot of it, and had dealt with much worse as far as a woman's interest was. The fact the young lady was actually oblivious to his come on wasn't caught. He just figured she was playing hard to get. "Faantastic. You into electronices? Need help with anything? I'm on a bit of an errand myself." He said smoothly, sliding his hands in his pockets, keeping his expression relaxed.
This 'Tynne' thing seemed shy, and was apparently a girl AND an animal. Who could he judge? he was part frog, not like he cared. Vance leaned over to the side to get a better look at the 'hiding' girl. "I'm Vance." He said, standing straight again. He kept hold of his dad's pant leg for now, just cause. He looked around him. Gadgets and things that weren't doing something cool were lame. Where was the flashing lights? He looked up and tugged on the pant leg. "Daddy... I wanna look at stuff. I won't touch." He said shyly, not wanting to be reprimanded for wandering without permission.
"Go ahead, kiddo." Donovan said with a wave. The man was a bit distracted right now. Vance let go and wandered passed Tynne, looking at her for a moment then over at the toys. "Ooooh!" The boy toddled over to the remote cars and other colorful gizmos. He looked back at the girl again. She was a lot more interesting than the toys. "Do you like stuff too?"

Goodness, this man was helpful! Hey...hey wait a second! This was the first time she got to speak to a man on this planet for more than a minute! A-and Evari wasn't around to make his adorable little boy cry! Yes! Her face lit up with joy and she shook her head, turning fully to face the man and clapping her hands together under her chin. "I'm just here to satisfy my own curiosity! I have never been to a store like this before." On Gaia, anyway! Things were so much different here than they were back on Urstontaea! "What is your errand for?" It couldn't be that he himself was merely curious as well? Hmmm...did she need help with anything? Everything here looked so strangely...primitive compared to her home! Ooh except that monitor over there! It looked like one in her parents' bedroom! Only much, much smaller. She did want to check it out...but...but she was meeting a man! She wanted to meet him! Oh, but when you were meeting someone you had to introduce yourself. Right, right. People here didn't have data rings. She held out one of her hands, the other resting behind her back and a big smile on her face. "I am Xaisholi--...Xai!" Another thing she was having a hard time with; her name was apparently a mouthful here.
"It's very nice to meet you, Vance." Tyyne said with a little smile, still hanging onto Xai's dress. She watched him interact a moment with his father and blinked. He was just...going to let him? But Vance was so little! It would take no effort to come right up, scoop him into one's arms and run! She frowned at that thought and let go of Xai, wringing her hands together awkwardly at her waist and stepping out from behind her guardian. This boy was so little, there was no way he could hurt her. Right? Ah! He was walking away! Tyyne's ears flicked as she hurriedly turned around to follow after him. She was a big girl, Xai was right there and she could call to her. She blinked, peering over Vance to look at the toys as well.
Ehhh...none of this was anything she liked. Tyyne wasn't into cars, electronic stuff, do-dads...gah! He was talking to her! Her ears flicked and she looked from the toys to the little boy again, playing with a lock of her hair and smiling shyly. "Um...well...not this stuff. I like flowers." Flowers, trees. Living things that she could grow and take care of, things that depended on her. "Do you like these things?" Oh, but maybe that was a stupid question. Why would he want to look at these things if he didn't like them?

This chic seemed very... naive. Otherworldly, yet more like that in the sense she was a foreigner exploring a different country or something. He could dig that. He'd play the helpful local, no problem. "I need batteries, adapters, and some other things. Also here to check out the latest gizmos."
He took the hand held out to him and shook his gently. "Pleasure to meet you, Xai. I'm Donovan Hart." This was gonna be fun!
---
This girl talked weird! All fancy like. Vance found it fascinating. "Flowers pretty." Vance said with a smile. He liked those too, but they didn't make cool noises. "Yeah!" He said in regards to liking the toys. He tilted his head then, fidgeting with the fabric of his clothes. "But I'm not 'llowed to touch any here." It's no fun just looking, after all. He wanted to play! He crawled back onto his feet again, looking up at the girl/fawn Tynne person. "S'boring here." He pouted suddenly.

Oh, he needed batteries? The voltage on these batteries looked just awful though! How did they power anything? Xai picked up a battery package that had been abandoned by someone else and clearly didn't belong in this aisle, scanning over the package and then looking at Donovan. "I could give you something better than these." She mused quite honestly, tapping at her lips with a thoughtful look on her face until Xai smiled at Donovan, putting the battery package back on the shelf where she found it and holding her hands behind her back. Yes, she would give him better power sources for his electronics.
"It's very nice to meet you! Would it be alright for me to accompany you, Donovan~?" She wanted to see the things he wanted to look at! Xai shook hands once and then brought her hand behind her back again, rocking from toe to heel.
Oh, Vance agreed that flowers were pretty! That was good! If only she could grow some here though. But what he said confused her, tilting her head and flicking her ears. "Why can't you touch anything?" Xai had never told her not to touch anything before. And children didn't usually get in trouble for wanting to try out a toy before it was bought! But she did agree that it was boring here. Tyyne sighed and nodded, looking around. There had to be some way to entertain themselves here.
"It is boring...um...we could play a game?" Oh, but Tyyne had never spent time with a kid to play games with without her sister around. Quinn had frightened her more than entertained her, but then everything frightened her that day. Even water! Haha, how silly. But did he know any games? She hoped he would.

Donovan raised his brow with a slight smirk. "Oh? Are these not powerful enough for your tastes?" A battery was a battery. What more was there? As a mechanic and would-be inventor, he had to know. "Pleasure is all mine. I'd like that." He said slyly to Xai, leading the way down one of the aisles. "I'm also toying with the idea of updating the speakers in my work truck, so I might take a look at what they've got to offer."
"Hands stick." He replied, holding up his mitted hands for now. Maybe it was safe to handle toys with the mitts on, but Donovan was strict when it came to conduct in public. Apparently he had seen one too many bad kids run amok in stores with the parents ignoring them like they were in some sort of playground. He'd made it clear to respect property that wasn't his. "Said if not mine. doooon't touch."
"Okay!" He said happily. What game though? His daddy always played with him, but did he remember what games? He wasn't allowed to play in a store though... "Is it allowed?"

"These would not power my home for ten minutes." Xai explained very seriously, catching the strange tone in Donovan's voice when he said he would like her to join him. That was strange, she'd never heard anyone speak that way before. "Oh? That sounds interesting. I do not own a truck." Or a car. The only vehicle she had was...well...her house. Hm...that'd be interesting to check out!
Tyyne blinked, staring at the mittened hands curiously. So if he touched things they'd get stuck? Oh dear! That wouldn't do! What if he wanted to eat? Did his food get stuck too? She could understand why he shouldn't touch things that weren't his though, even if they didn't stick to his hands with the mittens on it was still just a common courtesy not to touch things that weren't yours. She hummed thoughtfully at his question on permission, tugging the bottom of Xai's dress. "Momma? Can I play a game with Vance?" Xai looked down at the two and nodded, looking surprised. Evari never asked permission! This was new!
"Of course! If that's alright with Donovan?" Both Xai and Tyyne turned their gazed at the man, the only one left to give permission. Tyyne was a good girl! She'd never do something that Evari would do. Vance would be safe with her!

Was she being serious? She sounded like it. "Well, I don't think these are meant for that kind of power to begin with." And who needed batteries to power a home, anyway? It was a bit much for a comparison. "More like small toys and remote controls."
"I need it for work." He replied with a smirk, slipping his hands in his pockets and leaning a bit. "I'm a mechanic, so I tend to have to haul things all over town. I work from my garage."
Donovan looked down at the little girl, then back up to Xai. "S'alright with me." He had no intention of letting the girl distract Vance for him. It was quality time with this fine young woman now. Vance got up and shuffled over to Tynne, looking up at her happily. "Play what?"

Xai blinked, rubbing the back of her neck a bit. "Ah...what I mean to say is...their power is too weak. I'm not sure how they can keep anything working for too long." Then again from what she'd seen technology here was so much different from Urstontaea's. Maybe this really was all these needed...peculiar! "Ha...I see." Guess that made sense, but she could still try and offer him something better so he wouldn't have to keep coming back for silly batteries!
"Oh. That sounds interesting!" Xai said very enthusiastically, smiling again and no longer feeling embarrassed. "I'd like to see that!"
Tyyne was glad the adults had each other to keep company and that they both had given their permission for her and Vance to play a game. Hm...what could they play that didn't make him touch anything or risk getting things stuck? Something they would both enjoy. "Um...hide and seek?" Oh, maybe not. He was so little she didn't want to get him or herself lost. That would be terrible! They couldn't touch the toys though, or rather Vance wouldn't, and she couldn't let him on her back it hurt too much...tag? But she'd be too fast.
This was hard!

"Ah right. Well, until someone makes unlimited sources of power, I'll have to keep coming back for batteries." He said with a shrug. Though, the idea of an unlimited power source thrilled him. One day he would have the know-how to look into it. "One day.." He mused thoughtfully.
"The truck or the garage? I'm obliged to show you both." He said slyly with a smart smirk on his face. The only thing that bothered him would be the children. There would be no hanky panky with kids about. But, he could still get familiar with this girl, for certain.
Vance nodded vigorously at the older girl. "Kay! Wassat?" He asked innocently. He'd never played that game before!

"I can still give you something better so you will not have to come back over and over. It recharges itself with the energy from your brain waves." Xai smiled. "Though even the number of recharges is limited. But...you would only need to replace it every few decades." This didn't seem odd to Xai, considering an Ursontaean's lifespan, but she would be more than happy to give him one! Hopefully it wouldn't overload any of Donovan's systems. Eh heh. She hummed thoughtfully at the offer to show her both his truck and his garage, noting his very strange expression and tone of voice. That was odd, she was going to have to ask Switch and Luis what these strange behaviors were all about. They didn't make sense to her. "I would like to see both!"
Okay so maybe she was right. He didn't know what hide and seek was...but...it was such an easy game, it would be easy to explain! "Well, one person counts and makes sure they can't see anything...and whoever else is playing has to go hide." Tyyne explained with a smile. "And then when they finish counting they have to go look for the others." It was fun even with two people! Unless that second person was Evari, but Vance was nothing like Evari.
"Ummm...if that game is no good I can try to think of something else?"

Donovan tried not to look too dumbfounded by what this strange woman was telling him. Batteries... that ran on brain waves. Riiiight. Maybe this was one of those loopy chicks that skip their meds. A bit dangerous. Not quite his cup of tea. He smirked at her enthusiasm about seeing his truck and workshop. "I'm sure you would. You can see one of them soon enough. I still need to get some stuff." He looked around the store for the parts and gadgets he needed; adapters, laptop battery, and other miscellaneous things.
Vance looked at the girl awestruck as she explained the game, nodding with his mouth agape. "No, I wanna play it!" He exclaimed at her insecurity. All he had to do was count and not look? Cool! .... "B...but I can't count yet.." He looked almost dejected, wimpering a bit at his loss.

It would probably make more sense if Donovan saw them. They weren't actually 'batteries', more...power cores. She would definitely have to bring him and Vance to her home and show him what she was talking about. Xai was still very excited as she followed Donovan around, watching him pick out different things. How could Gaians use these things? They were so inefficient! She would have to try and share some things with Donovan...oooh maybe Switch and Luis would like some things as well! "So after you have finished your errand would you like to come to my house?" So she could show him what he was missing out on!
Awww! He was so cute! Tyyne giggled, cheered by the little boy's enthusiasm to play this game. He was so much littler and nicer than Evari, she trusted their game wouldn't turn out quite the same as whenever she played it with her older sister. "Then I will count first, and you can listen and copy me." Tyyne said gently, gasping when Vance began to whimper. Oh no! Don't cry! She quickly reached down, bending her front legs a little to lower herself enough to hug the boy in a comforting manner. "I-it's okay! Counting is easy!" Just don't cry! Gah!
