I am curious. I mean of course you'd have to learn someway to like type the difference. Maybe some kind of download when you press a combination of keys to make a word. Such as CTRL+KA? I don't know. I am not very clever, but I am kinda sure there has to be SOME way to translate your English words to Japanese Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana...

I'm not sure about typing it through exactly and if you did... through my methods you'd have to remember a lot of ALT codes... You can add them individually from the "character map" located in the System Tool's folder under Program>Accessories. You can also use a firefox addon to translate words specifically. Maybe you should look into doing something that way?

There is a way to type kanji. I don't know the program, but I can explain how it works.
You would type your word and it would be translated into kanji and kana. You would then have to go through and correct any mistakes in the kanji (because different kanji can make the same sound) by clicking on it, thus opening a drop down menu, and picking out the kanji you are actually looking for.

はいいいいい〜
you just need to change the keyboard settings
if you have a pc, i have no idea on how to do it but if you have a mac:
1. go to system preferences, 2. click international 3. click the box that says "kotoeri" 4. select hiragana and katakana
at this point there should be an american flag next to the battery icon.
click it and go to hiragana type whatever you like hit the space button Bam~ 日本語
