Today found Pilot just sitting on one of the many Public benches watching the world go by. He was in a contemplative mood today, which was odd. Usually he didn’t bother to stop and think and observe the world. Instead he’d be holed up in his lab tinkering on his projects, never caring for what went on outside.
Giving a small sigh he shifted where he was sitting and stared down the road to a corner, like he was waiting for someone to walk out from around it.

Surprisingly, his timing to look over was correct, for right at that moment a young girl with long brown hair walked around the corner. Her thin frame was covered by thick overalls and a messy white shirt, and she wore a set of goggles over her eyes - tinted today to keep out the sun.
Upon spotting Pilot, Patton slowed a bit, eventually stopping by the older boy. "Hello." her voice was quiet, but then, it was anyway. "May I sit here?"

Pilot gave a small smile when he saw Patton; it was nice to see her again. “Hey.” His voice was just as quiet as hers; he was taking his cue from her. “Of course you may, it would be nice to have some company today.”

The girl took a seat before inquiring about his statement. "today? Is there a particular reason or were you just noting the date?" she asked, actually curious if this was meant to be a special day, "Or that you are alone most days and today is different with company?"

Pilot smile became slightly wider; he always loved Pattons way of thinking. “Just noting the date, though I usually am alone so today is a bit different.”
“Still, it’s been a while since we last saw each other, how are you?”

"I am well. My sisters have gotten a little tiresome and my brothers are going through a phase, so I felt the need to get out of the house." the girl explained, "How has your time machine been going? You mentioned last time we spoke that you were still missing some parts."
(ooc note: the "last time" means when I npced him on the night of the gala. you can just make up what he says :3)

“At times like these I am grateful to be an only child.” Pilot said in reply to her complaints about her siblings. When he was asked about his time machine he gave a tired sigh, “Not so well. I managed to acquire some of them but others aren’t so easy to find, I might need to make them from scratch but I don’t have a forge. At least I don’t think there is one in the house. That and I still haven’t managed to solve the Paradox problem that would occur if I used it. I’m thinking I might need to tweak it not only be a time machine but also a universe hopper because parallel universes are the only way I can see getting around the problem.”

"Parallel universe hopping might be a solution but then you'd have to completely alter certain parts of the schematics. Time is only one dimension to be traveling through, alternate universes are several. Plus, you'd still have issues with meeting your other selves in other times, but it wouldn't be as bad." the girl observed idly.

“Yes, I realise the problems inherit in my solution but my preliminary calculations look hopeful and I may not have to completely scrap the old schematics.” When she mentioned meeting himself he gave her an odd look, “If my machine works as planned why would I waste a time machine by staying within my own time line, there should be no problem. Unless...” here he developed a thoughtful look, “I program to completely deviant universes instead of the near stacks, those would be interesting to explore I suppose.”

"I was implying you didn't have to worry about it so long as you DIDN'T stay in your own timeline, which you had stated you weren't going to." Patton reaffirmed her stance before shaking her head, "I wouldn't allow for deviant timelines till after I'd tested on much more solid and stable ones."

Pilot gave a small pause as he thought on her words about deviant timelines before nodding in agreement firmly. “Yes, best not to mess with them. I could accidently end up in a universe with different fundamental constants and then WOOSH. No more me.”
Deciding to move on form the topic as it was quickly turning morbid he asked curiously, “So what have you been doing since the competition? Started any projects of your own?”

"A few minor projects for helping around the house." Patton agreed, "I made a marshmallow cannon at my sister's request. We're working on a device that can catch the fired marshmallows with chocolate bars but so far no luck. We keep breaking the chocolate."

A marshmallow cannon? He guessed there might have been a bit of challenge in figuring out how much force to use without harming the marshmallow but it seemed a bit small time for Pilot, but then again not everyone started off trying to make robots and time machines. Besides it had been a request and since he didn't have any siblings to make requests of him he couldn't exactly talk. "Don't think I can give you any tips there, seems more like a culinary problem then anything else."

"It is." Patton agreed, "Not particularly major or useful, I know, but it is keeping me busy during downtime. I don't have any major projects I feel particularly inclined to work on at present. And if I don't feel like working on them, they won't turn out well at all."

Ahhh, that Pilot could fully agree with, if you didn’t have the spark of inspiration for a project it would never get finished or be only mediocre if completed. “That’s just too bad, hopefully an idea will take you soon, before I started working on my big project I hated the times I was stuck without an idea. Not that I could do much then anyway.” He said with a small laugh at the end.
